In a recent study published in Spine, several work-related factors were examined in regards to neck pain. All of the data that was studied came from workers in the United States with back and neck pain and were classified and ranked based on the type of job and the amount of hours worked.

The first category listed the top five job groups with significantly higher neck pain, which started out with people in the military. Arts, design, entertainment, sports, and media were the second group listed, followed by life, physical, and social science. Fourth was healthcare support, and fifth was installation, maintenance, and repair.

The second portion of the study showed that people who work 46 hours to 59 hours per week and those who work 60 hours per week were more likely to report neck pain than those who worked 40 hours per week or less.
