Baking can be an extremely effective stress buster. Recent surveys show that a large percentage of people benefit emotionally from the simple activity of baking. Experts believe this to be true because baking, like other creative activities, allows people to express themselves, which in turn lowers stress. Some people have derived benefits from “pie therapy” — a class in which people bake and discuss their feelings. Finally, some find that baking for another person — and knowing that this will lead to enjoyment on the part of the recipient — often leads to a reduction in stress levels.
