Question About Panasonic 30007 Vs. Sogno PLUS Massage Chairs

Although the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices are quite close between the Panasonic 30007 massage chair and the Inada Sogno PLUS massage chair, there are few similarities. I just had a client question me about the difference. Below is the question and my response. I hope this helps any of you working through making that decision right now. There are some insights we have that can’t be described in a bullet point feature section…but insights that we have gained through day-to-day experience with the chairs.

“i have been wanting a good quality massage chair for about a year now. Im tired of wasting money on those throw Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chairover the chair walmart style massage units. and it is so true about these shady companies online trying to just get your money and send you no name brands, and takes forever to even respond to an email request. now if im going to go for a massage chair i want the best their is. And i am falling in love with the inada sogno plus. I havnt tried it but from the features ive read and that it massages nearly every part of you is fantastic. My only concern is that the inada sogno plus only does a shiatsu style massage, unlike the panasonic 30007 which has different style massages. i could be wrong im still researching to this day, and perhaps you guys can help me out on this. One thing is for sure from what ive seen on your website and on youtube, you seem like an honest retailer, and i feel confident to invest in a chair with you, and feel im getting a great deal and hope to solve this problem as soon as possible so i can start enjoying my new chair.”Panasonic 30007 massage chair

“Hi, Don
Thank you so much for your inquiry. I don’t blame you for wanting something better than the small vibratory chair massagers. A massage chair is fantastic and no comparison, really. I agree with you on the Inada Sogno PLUS. It is an incredible massage chair and it DOES have more than just a shiatsu massage program on it. We just happen to have the Inada Sogno PLUS and the Panasonic 30007 in our showroom and it is no comparison, considering the similar pricing, although the 30007 is a very nice chair.

Here are the main differences as we see them:
1. the Sogno PLUS has the cervical traction unit, which allows for air bag massage of the top of the shoulders. This is a very innovative feature that no other chair has. It really feels like a massage therapist is using her/his elbows to massage your trapezius muscles. The Panasonic 30007 has a roller that also works on the shoulders but not as much as the Sogno. The Panasonic determines the whereabouts of your shoulders from the scan (which all good chairs now do) and then, from that scan finding, it rolls over your shoulders when it comes to them before working up your neck or down your back. It doesn’t roll very far forward to cover as much as the Sogno cervical traction unit does, but it still does more than virtually every other chair, with the exception of the Sogno of course.

2. the Sogno caters to taller people better than the Panasonic. If you are over 6 feet, you may find it a little confining on the Panasonic as the ottoman only extends about 6 inches and, unless you extend your feet completely out so that the foot massager is actually massaging your ankles, you will find your knees coming up toward your chest…not as easy to completely relax. The Sogno doesn’t have that problem.

3. the Sogno is a bigger chair and takes up more space than the Panasonic. So, if you are really confined with space, the Panasonic takes up less space.

4. the Panasonic 30007 massages about 400 sq. inches of your body, the Sogno over 1200 sq. in.

5. the Sogno PLUS has the amazing dream wave technology in the chair seat. It moves and undulates in a figure 8 pattern and up and down which to me, as a chiropractor, is a truly innovative and needed feature for low back pain sufferers, especially disc patients. You will love that feature.

6. full arm massage for the Sogno; hand, wrist and forearm massage on the Panasonic 30007.

7. Sogno PLUS is our top selling chair of ALL our chairs. We don’t sell many of the Panasonic 30007 chairs.

8. The intensity of the massage rollers is greater on the Sogno when the cervical traction unit and attached pad is lifted over the top of the chair. When the cervical traction unit and the pad are in place, the intensity of the massage may not feel as great as the Panasonic 30007. But, with the cervical traction unit and attached pad are out of the way, it is far more intense than the Panasonic 30007.

You can probably tell that we are big Sogno PLUS fans. It is the favorite chair of all the staff at our company. Having said that, the Panasonic 30007 is a great chair. We love it too, but for the money, the Inada Sogno is the best.
Pricing on the Inada Sogno PLUS massage chair is $6499, but you will notice on our website that we give a $300 Visa Gift Card along with the purchase of a massage chair over $4000 (by the way, our 110% low price guarantee will match and beat any competitors price!)

With that price, you receive free shipping, free white glove delivery (set up and assembly and removal of all packaging material), and our famous unconditional, no-questions-asked 90 day money back guarantee.

Well, Don, I probably talked your ear off here. I hope you don’t mind all the info. I want you to have the best shopping experience and education will contribute to that for you. Please call me if you have any other questions or if you would like to place your order with us. My personal cell number is 801-651-2026 and I am available all day every day!

Thanks, so much, for giving me the chance to tell you about these chairs. I am at your disposal…

Some Massage Chair Model Changes…And A Few Other Things

I haven’t written in my blog for a while and figured it was time to update you as to what is going on in the industry and in our business/showroom.

1. We have been notified that the HT-135 massage chair by Human Touch has been completely sold out and is now discontinued. We will be pulling it from our website within the next 24 hours.  They still have the HT-125 and HT-136 massage chairs available.

2. I added a Google search feature to our website. You will notice that underneath the financing image on each page of our site (on the upper right hand corner) there is a search field. Just type in any word, model, feature that you are curious about and this search engine will bring up every reference to that word that exists on our site. It may help you in your massage chair purchase process.

3. Some time ago I added a Google map feature to the home page to show where we our showroom is located. I don’ t know if you are aware of this, but their is a field by the map that asks you to “Enter your starting address”. For local folks, here in Utah, this is a great way to get directions to our showroom.

4. One of our massage chair manufacturers announced yesterday that they will be offering extremely low pricing on a couple of their models because they will be discontinuing those models after current stock is gone. I cannot mention who this company is or what models are being offered at an incredible price until April 15. I will post on this blog and send out an email blast to everyone on my “Special Report” list. If you have not requested my free report, “5 Things You Absolutely Must Know Before You Even Consider Investing In A High-Quality, Robotic Massage Chair”, you can go to the home page and sign up for it. Once on that list you will be notified of specials like the one I am talking about for the 15th.

5. I’ve added the Panasonic 1285 “Urban” massage chair to our showroom.  It is another $2699 chair that I felt would serve our clients who are looking for a less expensive, high quality massage chair.

Well, that’s about it for now.

Let me know if I can assist you in any way in your massage chair purchase decision process. We are always available to you. Our toll free number is 1-888-259-5380 and our local showroom number is 801-417-8240.

HT-5270 Massage Chair Discontinued and other website stuff…

I was notified this week that the HT-5270 massage chair, by Human Touch, has been discontinued. We have removed it from our site. We have been selling more and more of the HT-5320 massage chairs. They seem to be quite popular.

Some recent changes to our massage-chair-relief. com website include:

1. We have added a “Product Photos” section to each product page.  We have always just had the main photo of each product on the page, but now we have a separate section for each product that is dedicated to any photo we can find of the chair.  This will assist you in assessing which chair is best for you.For example, the HT-1650 massage chair has the best foot and calf massager of any massage chair, in my humble opinion. But,  looking at the image on the HT-1650 product page you would think it had no ottoman at all, as it is retractable and we did not have a photo of it with the ottoman out! That just won’t do!

2.  Have you seen our bestseller’s list? If you scroll down the home page to below the Google map, you will see the top 4 selling massage chairs in each price category. If you are looking for a chair this might point you in the right direction right off the bat.

3. You will see the 30″ version of our new Massage Chair Relief television commercial at the top right of the home page. We used to have a short video of “yours truly” welcoming folks to our site, but my wife insisted that I put our commercial there instead. I think it was a good idea, don’t you?

4. We will be adding a Google Search field onto each page of our website later this week. That way, you can enter in any words or chair models you want and see what information, on our website, is available for you. It is pretty cool really and I think it will serve our visitors wonderfully.

Difference between HT-1650 and Inada Sogno Massage Chairs

Our two top selling massage chairs that we sell, online and offline, are the Inada Sogno PLUS massage chair (#1) and the Human Touch HT-1650 massage chair (#2). A client interested in both chairs, but not sure which one to get, asked us to prepare a list of the features of both so that she could identify the differences on paper to assist her in her buying decision.

Well, Steffanie, my office manager and a Licensed Massage Therapist, took  on the task and prepared a sheet laying out the major differences between the chairs. I am including the text of her document below for your perusal if you find yourself in the same pickle:

Features of Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair in comparison to the HT-1650:Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair

  1. Does gentle neck traction-while cradling the head. The cervical traction unit pushes down on the shoulders to create space between the cervical vertebrae.
  2. Has 3-D roller technology to where the rollers not only work up and down the back but also push in and out working all three axes (X, Y, Z)
  3. The Dreamwave Plus model has a patented Dreamwave program that has the seat moving in a slow figure 8 pattern and the air cells inflate along the outside of the thighs. The whole program is designed to get movement in the hip joints and in the lower vertebrae.  It’s a very relaxing and therapeutic program and very unique to only this massage chair.
  4. It works more square inches of the body than any other chair on the market from shoulders to fingertips, hips outer thighs, shins, calves and feet (over 12oo sq. in.)!
  5. The stretch program not only does flexion and extension of the spine but also rotation of the back so that more muscles get stretched.
  6. The intensity can be adjusted per body part
  7. It is upholstered in a faux leather that is pretreated with an anti-bacterial and dirt-resistant finish.
  8. The track that runs along the back goes very low, down in to the sacral and upper buttocks areas. Not many models have such a long vertical track down to the sacrum.
  9. It has an optical scanning system that will run at the beginning of a program to detect how tall you are and where your tight areas are.  It basically creates a topographical map of your body so that it knows where all your bony prominences are and will accommodate that with the massage.
  10. Award winner for design and engineering at CES in LasVegas 2008.

Features of the HT-1650 massage chair in comparison to the Inada Sogno PLUS:HT-1650 massage chair

  1. The remote is easy to follow and very easy to see what the chair is doing while it is in an auto program.
  2. The length of the track on the back hits at about belt level, maybe just a little lower depending on how the person fits in the chair…not as low as theSogno.
  3. The foot ottoman is phenomenal, it does kneading and vibration.  It can do this because it has a motor in the foot piece. This makes it too heavy to elevate.
  4. The ottoman will only function in one position. If you fully recline the HT-1650 massage chair back the ottoman will remain in the same position regardless of the degree of chair back recline. **Someone with a hyperlordotic lumbar curve may experience low back pain because the hyperlordosis is exaggerated by the recline. The lumbar pillow can fill the lordosis created by the reclining position, but then the massage will be diminished quite a bit in the lumbar spine.
  5. It is upholstered in real top-grain leather.
  6. The aesthetics of the chair is classic and looks like a regular recliner vs. a massage chair.
  7. It does not do compression around the hips.
  8. The arms are just vibration, no compression.
  9. It has air cells in the seat that inflate and deflate to facilitate the circulation and work the muscles under the thighs
  10. The massage intensity can be adjusted to accommodate the needs of many different users; from very light to really deep.
  11. It has a fabric cutout around the head so that you can recline back and your head sinks into the chair more…you can feel the rollers really deep into the neck and upper back.
  12. It has an Acupoint Detection System that will run at the start of any auto program to detect how tall you are and where your tight muscle areas are.

Similarities between the two massage chairs:

  1. They both have a 5 year limited warranty.
  2. They both have 8 auto programs.
  3. They both work the neck all the way to low back and both do the feet, they just do it a little differently.

Thank you, Steff! Good job.

What is the difference between the Panasonic 30000 Series Massage Chairs?

I get asked a lot about the difference between the Panasonic 30004, 30005, 30006, and 30007 massage chairs. After Panasonic 30007 massage chairtaking the time to learn of the differences, it really all boils down to 2 words…”air bags”. The main difference between all these chairs, besides the price, is the number of airbags that each model has. The  new, made-in-Japan 30007 massage chair has waist, hip, and shoulder air bags that the others don’t boast. Here is a chart from the Panasonic website, showing the differences between the 4 models:

Panasonic Massage Chair Comparison Chart

The basic massage mechanism, design, and look is essentially the same for all 4 models. You’ll notice that the 30007 has a wood accented arm rest and the little shoulder “wings” that massage the back of the shoulders (subscapularis muscle area). All models are made with synthetic leather. The 30007 is the only model made in Japan.

Well, there you go…if you are shopping for a new Panasonic 30000 series massage chair and are not sure which one to go with, I hope this helps in some way for you.

Maximum Weight Limits For Massage Chairs

One of the most common questions we get from visitors is “How much weight can a massage chair take?” Some of our visitors are concerned that their weight might damage the chair or void the warranty. Well, we called our manufacturers and asked them each what the weight limits are for their chairs. Now, these are the numbers that they publish, but I will suggest that these limits do not mean that a person weighing more than these numbers can’t get the chair. There is a good possibility that a 300 pound person can get just as many years out of a chair as a 250 pound person. These are just guidelines:

1. Human Touch Massage Chairs
All Human Touch massage chair models have a warranty that recommends the user weigh 285 lbs. or less. A user weighing over this may use the chair but if anything were to happen it might not be covered under warranty (I can’t imagine that they would ask you your weight when you call in for warranty work!).

2.  Inada Massage Chairs
“If you can fit, you can sit” is the slogan that Inada uses to describe their weight limits. In other words, if you can fit in one of their chairs, no matter your weight, you can sit in it without concern for breakdown or voiding the warranty.

3. Sanyo Massage Chairs
Maximum user weight on all models is 264 lbs.

4. Panasonic Massage Chairs
Maximum user weight on all models is 264 lbs.

5. Omega Massage Chairs
The maximum user weight is different, according to the model:
M2 – 225 lbs.
OM 510 – 250 lbs.
Montage Elite/Premier – 300 lbs.

I hope this helps those of you who are concerned about this common question.

Dr. Weidner on Good Things Utah

Massage Chair Relief on TV
Massage Chair Relief on TV

I was invited to demonstrate a couple of our massage chairs on a local ABC morning show here in Salt Lake City called Good Things Utah. We brought down the HT-1650 massage chair and the Panasonic 30007 massage chair to show the 4 ladies who host the show. They loved the chairs! Even after the taping was done, the gals stuck around to sit on the chairs. I’ve included a shot of these lovely ladies with yours truly in the middle (dang the luck…I’ve got a tough job!). I will have the video of the segment up on the website and youtube before long.

One of the show’s hosts asked me how much per month it would cost to have a massage chair in her home. When I told her the amount, she was quite surprised since she spent as much as that or more on a monthly massage therapy visit and a monthly chiropractic visit. When she computed the numbers, she realized that using the massage chair every day far outweighed the benefit from her two therapy visits. She commented how much the massage chair felt like her human massage therapy experience. Of course, we hear that at the showroom all day long. By the way, I must say that I got a lot of comments about how good the cognac-colored HT-1650 massage chair looked in the decorum of the show’s set. It really looked good.

Anyway, if you think you can’t afford a massage chair…think again! Financing makes it possible for virtually everyone to have this amazing therapy in their home and available for use every single hour of every single day.

Happy Valentine’s Day, by the way.

Hilarious FedEx Massage Chair Commercial!

FedEx massage chair commercial

I love this commercial. It makes me laugh. It is a bunch of business people sitting around in a meeting relaxing on a bunch of massage chairs (they look like iJoys to me) that their company was able to afford because they used FedEx and saved a bunch of money. Funny, yes…but something we see a lot of. Many companies have purchased massage chairs from us to use for their staff or clients. They can be used as incentives or perks for employees and customers. We even have a tire store owner who uses his massage chair for his high revenue generating customers. He has the massage chair locked in a special room where only these select clients can go for a massage while they wait for their car to be serviced. Pretty cool idea, eh?

We’re Making Better!

This last month we have made some changes to the website to make it better and more convenient for our visitors. Here are just a few of the things that we have done for you…

1. added a Google Map of our location on the home page. Now that we have a showroom, we get lots of inquiries as to where we are located. This map makes it easy to put in your origination address and then get directions to Massage Chair Relief. Easy as pie!

2. added a “Bestseller List” of our top-selling massage chairs in each price category. This should help those of you who are shopping to know what others are deciding upon when it comes to getting a massage chair. We have broken up the categories by price: under $2000, between $2001-$3000, between $3001-$4000, and over $4000. Our top 2 selling massage chairs just happen to be priced over $4000: the Sogno PLUS massage chair (#1), and the HT-1650 massage chair (#2) . This bestsellers list also has the price of the chair along with stock availability for shipping.

3. added a “Product Review” section for each massage chair model at the bottom of every product page. You can also access the review by clicking on the “Submit a Customer Review Today” link under the “Add to Cart” button of each product page.  Now, when you get a massage chair model that we carry, whether you bought it from us or not, you can go onto the product page and give your two cents worth about the chair. I really appreciate constructive praise and criticism as a shopper. It helps educate me of things I need to be aware of a product. So, your review will help others make a decision about whether to get a particular model or not. We welcome your opinion.

4. added Estimated Delivery Times for each massage chair. We have put up an estimated delivery date for “Standard Delivery”, “White Glove Service”, and “Express Delivery”.  Now, these times are just well-educated estimates, based on the shipping company’s estimate and our experience. But, I will tell you that when it comes to shipping a massage chair, nothing is certain!! Just use these dates as guidelines. Often the chair comes earlier than the estimated time, but once in a great while, takes longer. But, at least this feature will give you a good idea of what you can plan on for delivery.

5. added a “Product Photos” section on each product page. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be adding every possible photo we can find for each massage chair model. We want you to see everything you can about the chair, especially if you don’t get much of an opportunity to sit in one.

6.  we altered slightly our showroom hours. We used to be open until 8:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. This served us well before Christmas, but now we are good to close up shop at 7:00 p.m. during the week.

We have lots of other plans, but this should be enough to keep your shopping experience positive for the time being.

Have a super day!

Another Great Massage Chair Shopper’s Question!

I love sharing massage chair shopper’s questions with you on this blog  because I figure if one person is asking, their are probably others that are thinking the very same thing. So, I post the visitor’s question along with my response…

Here is the inquiry:

“Dear Dr. Weidner
I am extremely hopeful you will assist me in narrowing down my choices for a massage chair as I have never owned a massage chair, but have sat in models (at Relax-The-Back, the chiropractor, Sharper Image and a few furniture stores) made by Sanyo, Human Touch, iJoy and Inada, but not Panasonic or Omega. Relax-The-Back is the only viable option to purchase a chair in my area. However, I will not do so due to their extreme lack of product knowledge of and poor customer service. I am looking for the highest quality chair available equipped to provide a complete deep full body massage from head to toe. Price is not an issue as long as it suits my needs. I am 6’1″ and 225 pounds with a very long torso and a relatively athletic build. The chair need NOT be voice responsive, resemble a fashionable piece of living room furniture or be constructed with real leather. I do not desire an iJoy, and the Sogno Plus is the only option from Inada I will consider. My criteria eliminates a number of chairs so I hope you are able to steer me to my viable options. Thank you so very much in advance for your kind assistance. It is most appreciated. Yours Truly, “

Here is my response:

“Thank you so much for your insightful email. I can tell you have done a lot of research and I hope my input assists you in your search.

I will start off by saying that, hands down, my manager, who is a licensed massage therapist, and I, who am a chiropractor, believe the Inada Sogno PLUS is the best chair out there, with the best and most innovative features, for the dollar spent. We have one in our showroom, along with a number of other Inada chairs, Human Touch chairs, the Panasonic 30007, the Sanyo 5000, and the iJoy 250. We used to carry the Omega Montage in our showroom, but we had so many customer service issues with the chair that we stopped carrying it in our showroom.

The Panasonic is a great chair, but we find that for the money, the Inada Sogno PLUS beats it. The Panasonic chairs seem to be more suited for a shorter body, but it doesn’t have the Dream wave technology or the neck traction feature, both of which are so innovative in the Sogno that it is hard to compare that chair with anything else. We carry the 30007 in our showroom, which retails for $5999, but there are other models in the 30000 family that are less expensive, with the same rollers and internal function, but with some differing features and airbags.

Human Touch makes very good chairs that are quite aesthetically pleasing, but feature-wise, again, they can’t fully compare to the Sogno PLUS. I love the HT-1650, personally, but would still suggest the Sogno PLUS for complete therapeutic benefit.

Here are some other things about the Inada Sogno PLUS massage chair to take into consideration, pros and cons, especially relative to your input in your email to me:

1. it is not voice responsive

2. the pad, to which the cervical traction unit is attached, can be lifted and snapped into a position out of the way so that the user of the chair can have an even more vigorous massage from the rollers. When the pad and traction unit is down, the rollers must work through two pads to get to the spine of the user. Some who want a more vigorous roller massage can lift that pad and traction unit out of the way so that the rollers only have to go through one pad, as is the case with most other chairs. I hope this makes sense. (By the way, if anything I explain doesn’t make sense, feel free to call me at my personal cell number, 1-801-651-2026, and I can explain it moreso over the phone.)

3. the neck traction unit uses air bags and rubber nodular inserts to massage the trapezia and levator scap muscles…it is unlike anything else we have ever seen before. A great neck and shoulder massage.

4. square inch massage coverage for most massage chairs is around 400 sq. inches. The Sogno PLUS covers over 1200 sq. inches of your body. That addresses your comment “a complete deep full body massage from head to toe.” The arm airbags cover your arm, forearm, wrists, and hands (including fingers).

5. the dream wave technology for the hips is absolutely fantastic if you have any acute or chronic low back pain. I use it all the time for an unstable left SI joint in my back and it is wonderful. Also a very unique technology that we have not seen on any other massage chair.

6. it is upholstered in faux leather, a fancy way of saying “fake” leather or synthetic/manmade leather.

7. won a design and engineering award from the international CES symposium in November 2008.

8. it has a heat function in the lumbar region but it is not remarkable.

9. Like the Sanyo and the Panasonic, the vertical track of the rollers go down to the very low back, i.e. sacrum, which, I think is crucial for a low back massage. The Human Touch and iJoy typically do not go so low.

10. customer service on the Inada chairs, like the Panasonic, Sanyo, and Human Touch chairs, is great. Should you ever have a problem with this chair, or any of the chairs we carry, you will have great customer support from each of the manufacturers we represent. The head technician for Inada USA came by our showroom a few weeks ago and told us that they have a .01 percent problem rate on new chairs….which is extremely low. In other words, the chance of you having a functional problem with the Sogno PLUS when you get it is very low.

11. Sogno PLUS comfortably fits persons from 4’11” to 6’4″.

Well, Bruce, I hope I have covered everything. Again, I hope you call me if you have any questions that I can’t answer with the written word. If you have more questions about the other chair models we carry, I can give more info regarding those models as per any future request from you. Again, my number is 801-651-2026.

Just a reminder to you, also, that we offer bonus gifts, free shipping, and a $100 -$300 visa gift card (or $100-$300 off the price of the massage chair) when you purchase  from our site. If you decide to get the Inada Sogno PlUS from us, you must call to place the order, as Inada does not permit online purchases of this chair. You will also be free of sales tax if you live outside of Utah. We will also throw in free white glove delivery, which will take care of assembly of the Sogno PLUS (it comes in two boxes) and disposal of all the packing material when your chair is delivered to you. You can expect a 1 1/2 week wait for your chair. Inada delivers quite quickly…even with the white glove service.

I look forward to hearing from you again. Best of luck to you in your massage chair shopping. “

Hope this helps all of you in your massage chair search!

Massage Chair Visitors from Georgia!!

I had a great day today! We had our first Massage Chair Relief visitors from Georgia come to our showroom today. They flew in first thing this morning to attend the Sundance Film Festival. They had done some online homework about massage chairs before they left and saw that one of the sites they had visited, OURS, had a store in Salt Lake City so they figured they’d come for a visit once they landed. So, first thing this morning, Doug and Katrina and Skip came for a visit to our showroom. We had a wonderful visit and fast became friends.

Now, we have had visitors from Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, and Idaho…all neighboring states within driving distance, but this was the first visitor that actually flew in to see us! I was just thrilled. They ended up getting the HT-1650 massage chair after having sat on all the chairs over the course of 3 hours. By the way, if you ever come to our Massage Chair Relief showroom, plan on spending AT LEAST 1 hour trying out the chairs. We have 11 in the store, and you will want to take your time trying them all out.

Should you ever come to Utah, please come visit us. We would absolutely love to have you. Call ahead and we’ll make arrangements for lunch or dinner. We’ll take care of you the moment you walk through the doors…yes, and that includes a meal for your effort to get here!

Massage Chair Relief and Make A Wish

When we began selling massage chairs locally, through our clinic and then through our showroom, I approached the Make A Wish Foundation of Utah to see if we could adopt a Make A Wish child and raise money for him/her through our massage chair sales. They loved the idea and found us a little girl for whom we could raise money. Her name is Hannah and her wish was to swim with the dolphins.

We decided to give $50 for every massage chair we sold valued at over $3000 and $25 for every chair sold valued at under $3000 to the Make  A Wish Foundation in the name of Hannah.  We ended up raising a total of $1250 and helped Hannah get her wish of swimming with the dolphins.

With the permission of Hannah’s family and the Make A Wish Foundation of Utah, I have included some words from Hannahs parents, describing her experience, below:

Hannah, who is now 16, had a wonderful time on her wish.  Although she is unable to express feelings regarding her trip, her family knew that for her, it was a splendid experience.   Hannah loves animals and is responsive to them, so a wish to swim with the dolphins was perfect for her.  After Hannah and her family returned from their trip, they came to A Wishing Place to raise a star in our rainbow constellation in the ceiling.  Each wish kid gets to participate in this star raising ceremony once their wish has been granted.  Her father explained all about their trip and how they had an amazing experience, especially encountering very thoughtful and giving people along the way. When they arrived they found out that that their time to swim with the dolphins was at a bad time for Hannah. They expressed their concerns to those in charge and the employees found someone who was willing to switch places with them so they could go at a better time for Hannah. Someone else donated the use of their cabana so Hannah would have a nice place to relax on the beach. They really had a great time, but mostly, they were overwhelmed by the generosity shown by others during the whole experience.  Hannah swimming with dolphins

Isn’t that wonderful? You can see her with her dad in the picture with the dolphin she swam with. I would like to thank Hannah for allowing us the opportunity to assist in this life blessing, the Make A Wish Foundation for creating such amazing miracles like this in the lives of terminally ill children, and I would especially like to thank you, our clients, who purchased a chair from our showroom last year…it was your contribution that made it possible for Massage Chair Relief to give $1250 to Hannah’s wish.

A Very Massage Chair Christmas!!

WOW…was it busy this holiday season! The recession may be here, but I can tell that folks are spending their money on health and wellness products in their own home…like massage chairs. It has been a fun year. We introduced some new models just before Christmas to add to our showroom. We now have the iJoy 250, instead of the recently discontinued iJoy 130; we have the new HT-5005 by Human Touch; and, of course, we have the new Panasonic 30007 massage chair.

Here are a couple of other things I want to touch upon:

1. the biggest struggle I face as a massage chair retailer is the white glove service (WGS) contractors. Now, each of the manufacturers pick their own shippers, and those shippers sub contract out the local delivery and set up for the WGS. It seems that these sub-contractors cause us the greatest distress when it comes to delivering a chair with WGS. I’m not saying that every WGS delivery is a bother…but it seems that the biggest problem we have, when we have a problem (which is not very often) with new massage chairs is not broken down new chairs, but weak WGS.

2. I added a “Product Review” to every massage chair model page. Now, you can go to the product page of the chair you own, or have used, and write a product review about the chair. We welcome all comments, but please refrain from using swear words, vulgar words, racial comments, or pornographic comments.  I think the product reviews will greatly enhance the shopping experience for other massage chair buyers.

3. The Sogno PLUS massage chair is NOT upholstered in leather. Someone told us that somewhere on my blog or website I mentioned that it was a leather upholstery. I was mistaken!! It is a faux leather (which is just a fancy way of saying fake leather, or naugahyde). Most chairs are made of the faux leather because it claims to be more durable over time. Frankly, on the some the massage chairs, I can’t tell the difference, i.e. the Panasonic 30007 massage chair.

4. I have decided to offer the Visa Gift Card special permanently. It has been so well received that I figured you deserved it. You can call us at the showroom and ask for a chair price discount equivalent to the Visa Gift Card amount, in lieu of the gift card (but, don’t tell anyone I just said that!).

Well, that’s about it for now. I haven’t written in a while, what with the busy holiday season and all!

Happy New Year!

Massage Chair Holiday Shipping Deadlines

Every year at about this time, folks start feeling anxious about how late they can order their massage chair in order for their chair to be delivered by December 25th.  Well, we’ve done our homework with the manufacturers who we represent and here is what you can expect if you want to get your new massage chair delivered by Christmas:

Regular freight to the East Coast: December 16, 2008
Regular freight to the West Coast: December 19, 2008
White Glove Service to the East Coast: December 10, 2008
White Glove Service to the West Coast:  December 15, 2008

Human Touch:
Last day for regular freight:  December  16, 2008
Last day for White Glove Service: December 12, 2008
Last day for any order to be shipped out for 2008: December 22, 2008

Sanyo and Panasonic:
Last day for regular freight: December 19, 2008
Last day for White Glove Service: December 15, 2008

Last day for regular freight: December 17, 2008
Last day for White Glove Service: December 13, 2008
So, the bottom line is that you better take a look at the calendar if you are going to get a massage chair for you or a loved one before December 25. Time is a wastin’!

Because the Visa Gift Cards take a little longer to process, if you wait until the last day for any of the manufacturers to order, you may not get your Visa Gift Card by Christmas. But, as long as you get the massage chair, I guess everything will work out perfectly. The bonus gifts, by the way, should be there by December 25th, as they only take 3-4 days to be shipped.

New Massage Chair Showroom Hours!

Massage Chair Relief Showroom Photo
Massage Chair Relief Showroom Photo

Well, I think I am finally transitioning from being a chiropractor to a massage chair retailer. I have actually established retail store hours for our Massage Chair Relief showroom! Up until recently, when folks would ask what our hours were, I would say “Till I go home!”. Needless to say, that didn’t work for a lot of our clients. So, with the onset of the holiday season, we have now established set retail store hours in our showroom.

Monday – Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Closed Sundays and Holidays

Either Steffanie, Mona, my daughter Melissa, or I will be here at any point during these hours. You can come down anytime if you live in Utah or if you are visiting our lovely state.  We’d love to see you.

Our website call-in hours are still the same, but our showroom hours are set as stated above. You can call us at 801-417-8240 and our showroom is at 2248 W. 5400 S. in Taylorsville.

Have a super week and enjoy your holiday shopping…especially if you are getting a massage chair from us!!

Massage Chair Relief TV Commercials!

I am excited to announce that we have had a television commercial created for local broadcast here in Utah for our showroom, Massage Chair Relief. The commercials began airing on Wednesday on ABC and NBC local affiliates.  Below 60 second version of the commercial for your enjoyment:

Massage Chair Commercial

If you are a football fan, you’ll know who Reno Mahe is, who played for 5 years with the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL.  Obviously he is a fan of our massage chairs. His favorite is the HT-1650 massage chair.

We also have a 15″ and 30″ versions of the same commercial. I will post them all  on so that they are available for everyone’s perusal.

Other than that, I must tell you that we had to raise our price on the Panasonic 30007 massage chair to $5999. I had kept it at $5499 for as long as I could, but Panasonic wants pricing to be the same across the board…so to $5999 it goes.

Massage Chairs In Our Showroom

It just occurred to me, after talking to a massage chair shopper, that I haven’t given a list of the massage chair models in our showroom. For the rest of America and the world, it probably doesn’t matter, but to Utah residents it just might be important to know. So, without further adieu, here is a list of the models that we carry in our Salt Lake showroom:

1. HT-1650 massage chair

2. HT-7450 massage chair

3. HT-7120 massage chair

4. Inada Sogno PLUS massage chair

5. Inada D5 Robo massage chair

6. Inada i2A massage chair

7. Panasonic 30007 massage lounger

8. Sanyo 5000 massage chair

9. ijoy 130 massage chair

10. HT-125 massage chair

11. HT-5005 massage chair (on the way!)

Please feel free to check them out on the site before coming down to the showroom so you know what to expect and what chairs you might want to take a look at while you are here.

Oh, and by the way, have a super Thanksgiving tomorrow.

A Visit From Inada Massage Chairs!

We were privileged to have Ken Kojima from Inada come visit our showroom on Saturday. Ken is the chief technician for  Ken Kojima from Inada Massage Chairs Inada Massage Chairs in the US and came over to visit Inada vendors in Utah. We spent an afternoon together visiting about the Inada massage chairs, and Ken showed us some interesting things about each of the Inada chairs that we have in our showroom…the Sogno PLUS massage chair, the Robo Massage Chair, and the i2 massage chair.

Among other things, he told us that the Sogno PLUS chocolate colored chair has black material covering the interior portions of the chair, rather than the creme colored material that is on our original chair. I will have to get those new pictures on our website. The creme colored interior material is still on the Standard model.

I also learned about how to rearrange the shoulder nodules on the cervical traction unit of our Sogno PLUS massage chair to optimize the trigger point therapy on the traps and levator scapulae muscles.  He also went over the voice response system of the new D5 Robo Massage Chair that we just got a couple of weeks ago. It is absolutely fascinating. These folks make some great chairs.

Ken also told me a little about the history of the Inada company and the president, Mr. Inada. Apparently, Mr. Inada made his first massage chair in 1962 by adding some rollers to the back of one of his chairs. That was the beginning. Now, they are one of the largest massage chair companies.

Thanks for the visit Ken. It was great to get to know you. Mydaughter, Melissa, was at the showroom for her first day of training, so this visit from Ken was extra special since my daughter got to hear about these fine chairs from the source. She really appreciated the visit. (also, thanks for your pliers, Ken, to pull our key out of the showroom door…I don’t know what we would have done without you. We got new keys this morning!!).

I’m Not Sure, But I Think I Lied About A Massage Chair!

Panasonic EP1285 urban massage chair
Panasonic EP1285 urban massage chair

Somewhere along the line I mentioned, either in print or word, that the new Panasonic 30007 massage chair is made of real leather. A studious client made me aware of that error. Also, somewhere along the line, it was mistakenly communicated to me that it was real leather and I shared that with some folks. The brochures, our site, and the Panasonic site all say that the chair is a faux leather (faux means synthetic and not real leather). Now I am not sure what the source of my erroneous information was, but I called my Panasonic rep yesterday to clarify and he told me that it definitely is a faux leather and NOT real leather.

So, if I told anyone that the new Panasonic 30007 massage chair is upholstered in real leather, I was mistaken. It is faux leather…but I will say that to see the chair, I think most folks would have difficulty telling the difference between the faux and real leather. It feels soft just like a nice, luxury leather chair would feel.

I can say, with confidence, however, that this chair is manufactured in Japan!! You see, I don’t lie about everything…

Oh, and before I forget, the new Panasonic EP 1285 massage chair (also called the urban massage chair) is now in stock and ready for order. Apparently that model is leather!! (I better  be telling you the truth!).

Out With The Old, In With The New Panasonic Massage Chairs!

Massage Chair Panasonic 30007
Massage Chair Panasonic 30007

As you know, Panasonic has discontinued it’s 30003 massage chair lounger. As you may also know, they have introduced the brand new, leather-upholstered, manufactured-in-Japan 30007 massage chair.
Well, we received our very own Panasonic 30007 massage chair for our showroom last Wednesday. It was quite easy to set up (much like the 30003) and it was up and running in no time.  Here are some of the things we noticed immediately upon assembling and using the chair:

1. Faux wood arm rests – they look quite classy. They are a shiny, dark wood accent to the chair. Underneath the faux wood armrests is….

2. Arm massage. The wooden arm rests lift up at the back end, allowing you to slide your arms to the front of the arm rest where the wood is attached to the arm rest frame. The air bags in the massagers squeeze your fingers, wrists, and forearms. I actually felt my carpal bones (wrist bones) pop like a chiropractic adjustment when the air bags squeezed/massaged my wrists. That reminds me also that…

3. The back massage rollers were vigorous enough to pop my mid back bones, also like a chiropractic adjustment. Although vigorous, I did not find the Panasonic 30007 massage to be too vigorous or painful in the least.

4. Seat and hip massage. The seat has airbags in it and, along with that, there are hip massagers on either side of the seat (ala Sogno massage chair hip massage) that inflate and massage the ITB’s on the outside of both thighs.

5. Shoulder/subscapularis massage feature. There are two flaps that inflate out towards the back of your shoulders (right where the subscapularis muscles are…if you know your anatomy!). They have nodules in the flaps to simulate a trigger point massage to the muscles at the back of the shoulders. Pretty cool…never seen that in another massage chair before.

6. Like virtually all Panasonic massage chairs, no heat function anywhere on the chair.

Well, that about does it for today. The Panasonic 30007 is a very nicely appointed massage chair. You’ll enjoy it.

Massage Chair Relief and Make A Wish Foundation of Utah

This year we at Massage Chair Relief “adopted” a little gal named Hannah from the Make A Wish Foundation of Utah. Hannah is a 15 year old who has Wolf Hirschhorn Syndrome, which is the result of a genetic error on chromosome 4. This genetic error affects fetal growth and development, resulting in a variety of symptoms. Hannah is non verbal but is able to express what she wants. Her favorite color is pink and her favorite food is pudding. She also likes soft things.

Well, when I was a chiropractor our clinic did a Make A Wish Foundation fundraiser by adopting a little darling girl named Alexis. Her wish was to go to Disneyworld, which she did do. The whole experience affected me deeply. As the father of 6 children I am very sensitive to children and their beauty. I am a pretty sensitive, emotional guy. When I went on a tour of the Make A Wish facility here in Salt Lake City  I was fighting back tears throughout my whole visit to that wonderful place. It was amazing. I would strongly recommend every one of you go there to get a feeling for the special mission of this organization.

Well, to make a long story even longer, when I opened my local showroom for Massage Chair Relief I approached Make A Wish Foundation again and offered to adopt another child. They blessed us with Hannah. What a darling she is!  Her wish was to swim with the dolphins. Well, I just received a letter from our contact at Make A Wish who told me that Hannah just came back last month from seeing her dream fulfilled. She sent me some pictures, but I can’t put them up unless the family gives us permission. If they do, there is one picture of Hannah and her Dad with a dolphin that I will put up for everyone to see. It is absolutely priceless.

What we did at our local store was pay $25-50 to the Make A Wish Foundation for every chair we sold through our local Salt Lake business throughout 2008. We actually began in December of last year. We raised $1250 and I would like to thank those of you who purchased from our Salt Lake store. We are so very grateful. I have been touched by your generosity. We did not put promote our fundraiser on the website, since we were working solely with the local chapter. But, in the future, we will do something on a more national level with a worthwhile charity and promote it more on this website.

By the way, for those of you who don’t know,  here is the mission statement of the Make A Wish Foundation :

“Our mission at the Make-A-Wish Foundation® is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.”

Inada D5 Robo Massage Chair Now In Our Showroom!

Inada D5 RoboChair
Inada D5 RoboChair

Oh, man, this is a cool massage chair! We got the D5 Robo massage chair from Inada  on Thursday and it is quite a chair. Just off the top, I’ll tell you about a few of the features that seemed really cool to me:
1. It has a voice response microphone that will take your voice commands to do what you want the massage chair to do. If you look at the picture on our site, you can see the microphone come around the right side of the chair at about head level. You speak into the mic and the chair does what you tell it to do. Very cool!

2. It also has arm  massagers that attach to the arm rests that can be moved (slid) along the arm rest to massage different parts of your arms. They look a little gaudy on the photo and they actually look the same in real life, but they are great massagers. They can also be removed so that the chair doesn’t have to look like something too terribly bulky.

3.  It is a very sharp looking chair. Very handsome and nice looking.  We got the black one.

4. This is a heavy massage chair! It is one of the heaviest if not the heaviest chair we carry.  Cliff at Inada tells me that the ottoman can easily be removed to make lifing easier. It also has wheels on the back of the legs to make for easier moving around your house or business. It is a very sturdy massage chair.

5. 3-D massage rollers. The back massage is very good and strong.  The 3-D massage pushes your body forward and back whilst rolling up and down. It is quite a unique massage experience. It is also available on the Sogno massage chair but not quite as pronounced.

Floor Model Massage Chairs For Sale!

Well, as I mentioned in previous blog posts, their have been some developments with some of our massage chair models:

1. The Panasonic 30003 massage chair has been discontinued. The only reason we still have “In Stock” on our website is because we have our floor model available.

2. The HT-125 massage chair will be discontinued in 2009.

So, this means that I have two chairs on my showroom floor that must now be sold, since there are no news ones to sell! This is what I am making available to my website visitors:

1. Panasonic 30003 Massage Chair (black color)
Regular Price: $3999
Sale Price: $2499
Floor Model Price: $1899

2. HT-125 Massage Chair by Human Touch (cashew color)
Regular Price: $2299
Floor Model Price: $1299

3. I have two HT-1650 massage chairs in my showroom, with room for only 1. The HT-1650 is our 2nd most popular seller, behind the new Sogno PLUS massage chair. I am selling my black HT-1650 floor model for $3295!

HT-1650 Massage Chair by Human Touch (black)
Regular Price: $4795
Floor Model Price: $3295
The Panasonic 30003 and the HT-1650 are still under warranty. They are all good chairs, with a lot of mileage left in them. The upholstery is fantastic and they are all very, very clean.

I will pay for the shipping for you as well as throw in the bonus gifts that we offer with all our chairs. The Visa Gift Card special will not apply, however.

If you are interested in one or all of these chairs, you will have to call the office to place the order. Here is our toll free number: 1-888-259-5380. We’ll take good care of you over the phone.

By the way, we will be replacing these massage chairs but I am just not sure with what chairs! For sure, we will be carrying the Inada D5 Robo Massage Chair and the new Panasonic 30007 massage chair in the showroom and probably another HT model chair (either the HT-5005, HT-5270, or HT-5320…do you have an opinion as to which you would like to see in our showroom? Let us  know by responding to this blog entry and we’ll seriously consider your opinion). We may also carry the Perfect Chair, which is not a massage chair but one heckuva therapeutic chair made by Human Touch.

Panasonic 30003 Massage Chair Discontinued!

I just learned today from Panasonic rep that the 30003 massage chair model has been discontinued. We found out because we placed an order for one this morning and he told me that he wasn’t even sure if there was one left. Well, that was news to me! Fortunately, he was able to find one more for me…but it is the last one. By the way, I have my floor model 30003 massage chair that I guess I will be selling. I can sell it to anyone interested for $1899. Let me know if you want it…it is in perfect condition.

So, I guess Panasonic is putting all their energy behind the 30007 model now. We will have the new 30007 up on our site very shortly. We finally have some specs and images on it. As you recall, I put up a link to a pdf file that contained the brochure for the Panasonic 30007, but not many details were available. You can read about it here…

Below is a link to an information page on Panasonic’s website for the new Panasonic 30007:

They list the price at $5999, but for now I am offering it for $5499…until they tell me to change it. If you are interested in this chair and you want it before I get it up on our website, call me at 1-888-259-5380 and we’ll take your order over the phone.

Panasonic is also coming out with a new model chair called the 1285. It is available for pre-order only and it’s price point is $2699. I don’ t  know much about it, but here is a link to it’s product page on the Panasonic website:

As with the 30007, if you want it before we get it up on our site, call me at the same toll-free number you see above and we’ll get your on the pre-order list.

Have a super day!

HT-125/135/136 Massage Chairs Change in 2009

Human Touch 125 Massage Chair
Human Touch 125 Massage Chair

I was just notified by my people at Human Touch that HT-125/135/136 family of massage chairs will be discontinued at regular online and offline retailers, like, in 2009. I don’t know what the exact date is, but I was told to plan on it. Apparently, the models will not be discontinued altogether, but will only be available through certain discount stores as an exclusive for that store.

So, the long and short of it is, sometime in early 2009 we will not be carrying these models anymore. It is a popular set of chairs, so they will be missed, but Human Touch has come out with so many new and exciting models that the pain of losing these other models is not as severe.  We will be selling the HT-125 massage chair that I have in the showroom and will replace it with the HT-5005, I believe.

By the way, if you are interested in my floor model, which is a cashew model, let me know. HT-125 massage chair by Human Touch (cashew)It retails for $2299, but I could sell it to an interested buyer for $1299, and that INCLUDES SHIPPING from our showroom to your home or business AND it includes the bonus gifts that we include with every purchase. It does not, however,  include the Visa Gift Card offer this month. It is a few years old, but it is in excellent condition. It looks great in cashew! Feel free to call our toll-free number if you want to talk to me about it. Our number is 1-888-259-5380. Steffanie will probably answer the phone, but you can ask her about it too. It won’t last for long, so if you are interested before Christmas, let me know asap. You can see an image of it on the right. Not bad, eh?

Before I go, I just wanted you to know that I posted a new article on the internet about the HT-1650 massage chair…one of my favorites. Here is the link to the article:
(yes, that is me in the ht-1650 massage chair)

Enjoy. Have a super day!

Human Touch Awarded $4.55 Million in Massage Chair Lawsuit

I reported back in January that Human Touch massage chair company had won a lawsuit against King Kong Chairs and Premier Health Products for patent infringement. You can check out my blog entry, and associated information, at this link:

Well, I just read a press release that mentions that Human Touch was just awarded  $4.55 million in a trademark infringement case. Here is a clip from the release:

“Human Touch®, the leading brand of high-performance, design-oriented massage chairs for today’s modern and traditional living spaces, announced today that a U.S. District Court jury awarded $4.55 million in damages to the company in its trademark/trade dress infringement and unfair competition action brought against American Lighting Industry, Inc for intentional infringement of Human Touch’s trademarks and trade dress as it relates to its Human Touch massage products and technology. The jury also awarded Human Touch $2.8 million against co-defendant King Kong U.S.A., Inc. and $425,000 against King Kong’s president, Bernard Koay.”

Later in the press release, it is also mentioned that in a separate ruling “another U.S. District Court jury awarded $1.7 million in damages to the company in a patent infringement action brought against WFO Imports, LLC.”

King Kong massage chairs is a subsidiary of American Lighting Industry Inc.
WFO Imports, LLC also does business as Premier Health Products.

Here is a link to the press release:

Who knows what will happen now, it’s in the hands of the Expert Witness for Patent Cases. I have heard rumors that American Lighting Industry Inc may sell off or shut down the King Kong massage chair division.  And can WFO sustain after being hit for $1.7 million. Don’t know, but time will tell…

International Massage Chair Shipments

I have had a lot of overseas inquiries lately from interested massage chair buyers. I don’ t know if it is the strength of the foreign dollar or the outrageous costs of massage chairs outside of the US, but the bottom  line is we get a lot of inquiries. We do not offer free shipping to orders outside of the continental USA, but we always offer to get a shipping quote for our visitors.

In the past, we have always just gotten an air freight shipping quote, but recently we have been looking into ocean freight.

Here is the pro and con of ocean freight versus air freight:

PRO:  Ocean freight is definitely cheaper in most cases…sometimes up to 60% less!

CON: Ocean freight takes longer to get to it’s destination…sometimes up to 45 days!

So, the trade-off with ocean freight is that you get a massage chair to you a lot cheaper but it is going to take a while longer to get there.

I just got a shipping quote for a Sogno Plus massage chair to Brazil. The air freight was about $1400, the ocean freight was $658. That is a significant savings. And, in this case, the shipping by ocean would “only” take about 26 days. That is about two weeks longer than an air freight shipment to the same place.

If you live overseas and are thinking of getting a massage chair as a Christmas gift,  you better get busy placing your order as soon as possible.

Just call or email us and give us your city and postal code and the model you are considering and I’ll get a shipping quote for you usually within 24 hours.

By the way, and this is the biggest thing, if you order any massage chair through our site,,  for international delivery, we will give you anywhere from $100 – $400 credit in shipping costs, depending on the chair model you order. You see, if you order a chair to be shipped within the continental USA, you get free shipping. It is free for you, but it costs me between $100-$400 depending on the chair model. So, if you are shipping internationally, we don’t have to pay the shipping for the chair and can pass the savings on to you!

Can I Buy A Massage Chair With My Flex/HSA Account Funds?

This is a question we get a lot around here. Between questions about Flex/HSA accounts and regular medical insurance and whether they cover massage chair purchases, we could almost have an insurance department at Massage Chair  Relief!

Well, I can tell you this…most HSA and Flex spending accounts will cover massage chair purchases. After all, these are considered medical devices and they are primarily used for pain relief. So, the bottom line is if you have money in that account use it for your new massage chair purchase before year’s end.

You are in the 4th quarter of the year, so “Use it or lose it!” as the saying goes. You well know that if you don’t use these funds, that your employer has been setting aside for you, by year’s end you forfeit them…in other words, you lose the money!

Most of these accounts use a credit card system, so you can just order online on this website. If you want to order over the phone, that is just fine too. If you do not have a credit card system, then a check will be fine, too. We can make it work for you. But, act fast because the year’s end fast approaches.

Remember that we also have our Visa Gift Card offer going on this month PLUS you will always get free shipping and bonus gifts with your massage chair purchase.  You’ve already set the money aside…you just may not have known that it was going to be for a massage chair!

October Massage Chair Relief Special of the Month

Well, our 2-for-1 massage chair offer in September was quite successful, but many folks didn’t want to fork out the top dollar for the expensive chairs just for a second massage chair. So, this month we are going to do something that can appeal to most massage chair buyers.

This month, we are offering a Visa Gift Card from for any of you who purchase a massage chair on our site. Not bad, eh? So, here is all you have to do…when you add the chair of your dreams into the shopping cart, you will be directed to the check out page. On that page, there is a section called “Coupon” and a field with these words written over the top of the field “Enter your Coupon Code here”. In that field just type in the word “Visa” and we will know exactly what you mean and we will order your Visa Gift Card right away.

Here is the breakdown of how the Visa Gift Cards will be distributed:

1. Massage Chairs under $2000 – $100 Visa Gift Card

2. Massage Chairs $2000 – $4000 – $200 Visa Gift Card

3. Massage Chairs over $4000 – $300 Visa Gift Card

How does that sound? Pretty easy, eh? It is getting closer and closer to Christmas and since you are getting a massage chair anyways, why not get some extra bucks to spend on another Christmas gift? By the way, you still get the free bonus gifts and free shipping with every purchase.

Have a great month…and Happy Halloween!

Panasonic 30007 Massage Chair Brochure

We have had quite a bit of interest expressed in the new Panasonic 30007 massage chair. Although we carry the chair now that it is available, we still do not have it up on our website,  because of the lack of images and information about the massage chair. Well, my Panasonic rep sent me the only brochure they have of the chair…in a .pdf file. So, I have attached the file to this blog entry so you can read up about it. As a matter of fact, if you type in “Panasonic 30007” into Google, our site is #1 and the only site that has any information about the 30007! That is how rare information is about it.

Here is a link to the brochure for your perusal:

Panasonic 30007 Massage Chair brochure

Some of the highlights of the 30007 include:
1. total air massage square inches: 460

2. 200 sq. inches of air massage on back area

3. 5 preset programs

4. 8 manual programs

5. 1117 massage combinations

6. 30″ massage stroke

7. leg and arm stretch

8. wood design plate on the arm rests

9. manufactured in Japan (as opposed to China)

Read the Panasonic 30007 massage chair brochure to learn more. Although the images are dark, the chair looks good…much like the other 3000 series chairs.

Panasonic 30007 Massage Chair Is Now Available!

I was notified last week that the Panasonic 30007 is now available. I talked about this chair a couple of weeks ago on this blog ( The funny thing though is that there is very little information available on the chair. If you can believe it, there are not even any pictures or specifications available…not even on the Panasonic website! But here is a list of what I do know about this new chair that Panasonic is so proud of:

1. This chair is proudly manufactured in Japan…they are very excited about this.

2. MSRP:  $5999 (but I can make it available to you for $4999 for the time being).

3. There are units available right now, in black. The first shipment came in last week.

4. Same features as Panasonic 30006, but adds wood design plate on the arms.  There may be more available above and beyond the 30006, but I am not aware of those things yet. If and when I find out about any other differences, I will post them on this blog.

5. Other features include Junetsu (ultra-fine kneading) massage, shiatsu, swedish, and fist massage, 36 airbags throughout the whole chair (sole of feet, calves, seat, arm, hand, waist, shoulder), 460 square inches of total massage, auto-body scanning system, 4/6 person memory, voice guidance system, intensity/speed control, ottoman has a 5 inch extension adjustment.

Hope this helps someone out there who is looking at this massage chair.

Another Great Massage Chair Question From One Of You!!

I had another question today from another visitor to our massage chair site. This is from a fellow in Europe, so the topic of shipping massage chairs internationally comes up. I hope his questions  and my answers help you answer some of your massage chair shopping questions.

“Hi great website ! I am going to buy a massage chair for the first time and I want to buy the best chair on the market. Main points include heat, calf massage and general all rounfd body massage. Preferably The chair should be comfortable & stylish enough to use as a recliner. I am interested in the following chairs, PHP2030 OSIM Uspace Inada Sogno Omega Premier Panasonic 3006 Sanyo 7700 I would be grateful for youu advice on these chairs? Final question ,,, I live in Switzerland, do you know how much shipping would be or do you have any local European partners.

Many Thanks,

Here is my response…

“Hi, David
Thank you for your inquiry. It sounds like you have been doing some homework!

We are not familiar with the PHP chairs and I know that the OSIM brand is Brookstones, but I have only sat in one OSIM model and there was nothing remarkable about it relative to the other chairs you mention. However, we are very familiar with the other models you are asking about. Here are answers to your questions:

1. “heat” –  all the chairs have heat, but the Panasonic 30006. The Sanyo has only heat in the legs. The Omega has the most comprehensive heat, in the back, seat, and legs. The Sogno has heat in the low back.

2. “calf massage” – All the chairs you speak of have a calf AND foot massager. They are all of good quality, as well.

3. “general all round body massage” – I love the Sogno PLUS massage personally because it covers more square inches of the body than any other chair in the world. It also has the Dream Wave technology which massages the seat and buttocks more than any other chair. This Dream Wave technology is quite revolutionary.  It is my favorite and since it came to America, it has become our best seller…by far.

4. “comfortable & stylish enough to use as a recliner” – The only chair that looks different than a typical massage chair, which is how most chairs look, is the new Inada Sogno. It is very stylish and contemporary looking, although the ottoman and arm massagers are quite overt and obvious. The Omega Premier has the arm massagers as attachments to the arm rests and does not look aesthetically pleasing if you are looking for a recliner-looking massage chair.

5. “how much shipping would be or do you have any local European partners” – We will need to have your city, postal code, and model you decide upon to get an accurate shipping quote for you. Yes, we can ship to Switzerland, but we do not have any local European partners. I am told that the price of most massage chairs in Europe is so cost-prohibitive that even with the shipping cost, the combined cost is more than the standard price of a chair in Europe.

I hope this answers some of your questions and helps make your buying decision a little easier. Please email again if you have more questions or inquiries. You can also call our showroom at 1-801-417-8240 to speak to Steffanie or myself.

I await your response with your postal code and city and model you are interested in so that I can get you an accurate shippng quote…

Green Screen in Massage Chair Relief Offices!

We are actually creating a green screen in our Massage Chair Relief offices. We will be recording a video clip of me to be put on the home page of the website in place of the the image of me that is there right now with the audio recording. I’ve never liked the quality of the audio recording and I really like the idea of a more interactive Dr. Weidner greeting my visitors. I have a neighbor that is a movie director and he is setting everything up for me. ( If you ever need some video work done, this guy is great and his prices are very reasonable. Contact me or visit him on his website if you have any inquiries. Here is his site:

On to massage chairs

The Panasonic 30007 is now available for the public. The only problem is that we have not much info on it yet. Our Panasonic rep said that the first shipment came from Japan on Friday last week, but the data on the chair has not arrived yet. Panasonic doesn’t even have the chair up on it’s site yet!

This much we know…it is an even better chair than the 30006, which was Panasonic’s previous top model.  This chair is made in Japan, not China, and the manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $5999. Call our office for special pricing, since the chair is not up on our website just yet. The Panasonic 30007 massage chair also only comes in black at this time.

The moment I have any info on this chair, we will pass it on to you.

Remember…until the end of this month, I am offering 2-for-1 massage chairs. If you buy an HT-1650 massage chair you get your choice of an iJoy 130, 300, or HT-2720 massage chair absolutely, 100% free!

Have a super day!

New Home Page Up and Running!

We are so excited to announce that our home page redesign is now up and running. We are still working on a few things to make your online experience even better, but for now here is what we have done…

1. added a “Special of the Month” to the top left of the site. Every month we will offer something great to our site visitors. This month, as I mentioned on yesterday’s blog post is a 2-for-1 massage chair special. Buy an HT-1650 massage chair and get your choice of an iJoy 130, 300 or HT-2720 absolutely FREE!!

2. added all our chair manufacturers, including the new Inada and iJoy chairs, to the home page alongside the other 4 manufacturers.

3. added a place for video clips. Today we put up “Yours Truly” demonstrating the HT-1650 on a local television program. We will put up various videos over time, like massage chair reviews, commercials, video blog posts, etc.

4. added my most recent blog post so folks can read the latest without having to navigate to the blog page.

5.  re-arranged some images, i.e. free shipping, 90-day money back guarantee.

6. new drop-down menus under each chair manufacturer to more easily navigate to the model you are looking for.

Things we are working on this week…

1. video greeting from Dr. Weidner, not just a static image with an audio clip like it is now. We will be taping that later this week and plan to have it up at the end of this week or early next week.

2. “Massage Chair Search” feature. We will provide a search field that will allow you to find chairs with the particular features that you want.  This will assist you in narrowing down the model you really want.

I’ve got lots of other things in my head that I’d like to see on the site. As we create them, I will notify you via this blog. Thanks for being such wonderful guests and clients of this site and business. I am grateful for all of you.

Have a wonderful day!

2-For-1 Massage Chairs in September Only!

I am excited to announce that for the month of September, 2008 I am able to offer a FREE iJoy massage chair with the purchase of the HT-1650 massage chair by Human Touch! Yes, that is right…a free iJoy 130 (any color), a free iJoy 300 (any color), or an iJoy HT-2720 massage chair (eggplant, green, or cashew) when you purchase an HT-1650 massage chair from our website.

You can order the HT-1650 over the phone or directly on this website.  When you call us, just tell us that you are taking us up on the 2-for-1 September Special and tell us which iJoy you want. If you order online, you will have to enter the iJoy model and color that you want in the “Coupon” section of the check out page of the shopping cart. When you get to that field, and let’s say you want an HT-2720 in Eggplant color, just enter those words “HT-2720 Eggplant” in that field and when we get the processed order we will see exactly which free chair you want with your order.

It’s that simple.

A couple of things you need to know about this promotion:

1. it is only good until midnight of Tuesday, September 30, 2008. If it is a smashing success, we may offer it again before Christmas (because the iJoy would make a lovely Christmas gift for someone else in!).

2. free shipping and bonus gifts still apply to all promotional sales.

3. GE Financing is also still available on all purchases, regardless of what the promotion is.

4. You must take the free massage chair. You cannot decline the iJoy massage in lieu of an equivalent dollar discount on the HT-1650 massage chair.

Well, that’s about it. Don’t hesitate one minute to call us if you have any questions or if you want to order your chair today. Our toll free number is 1-888-259-5380.

“Red” HT-125 and HT-135 Massage Chair Models To Be Discontinued!

I just thought you’d like to know that the red color in the HT-125 massage chair and HT-135 massage chair are being discontinued this week. In other words, in 48 hours the red HT-125 and HT-135 massage chair models will not  be available anymore from Human Touch. Human Touch tells me that no other colors at present will replace the red models, but may at some time in the future.

I told you a couple of weeks ago that the dark chocolate color of the HT-7120 massage chair has also been discontinued and will be replaced by the Espresso color. The Espresso is now in stock. It is up on our website, although we don’t have the image up yet (the old dark chocolate image is still up). The price on the HT-7120 is still $2699 for all models.

The colors still available in the HT-125 massage chair are black and cashew. The colors remaining in the HT-135 are black and cappucino.

Unfortunately, there is no price deal for the remaining red HT-125’s and HT-135’s. They are still $2299 and $2399, respectively, although the red is gone in a couple of days.

Sprinklers Turned On Massage Chairs!!

PGA tour assembly photo
PGA tour assembly photo

Well, our week at the PGA Tour Championship at Willow Creek Golf Course in Sandy, Utah ended in a very interesting way. Saturday night the sprinklers went off in the tent where our massage chairs were stored and they were soaked throughout the night! Steffanie went to turn on the massage chairs Sunday morning and found them absolutely drenched by the water. The home entertainment vendor next to us had water dripping out of the back of his flat screen TV’s when he came in!

Needless to say, we didn’t plug in or turn on any massage chairs on that last day of the Tour. We just dried out the chairs and brought them back to the showroom Monday morning. We had the HT-1650 massage chair, the HT-7450 massage chair, and the Sogno PLUS massage chair in the tent. All I could think about was how good the liability classic car insurance quote was at the PGA!

Well, as it turned out, everything worked Monday morning and all is well at Massage Chair Relief!

What we get out of this experience is that the massage chairs we carry are durable and can survive a drenching from a golf course sprinkler system (have you ever seen a golf course sprinkler?? They put out a lot of water at a very impressive force!).

By the way, the picture above is a shot of the pro’s at the driving range prior to Saturday’s round.

Massage Chair Relief at the PGA Championship Tour!

PGA Tour Photo
PGA Tour Photo

When we had our chairs at the Longest Day Golf Tournament in Midway, Utah back in PGA Tour championshipJune, one of the higher-ups of the PGA Championship Tour sat in our massage chairs and thought they’d be great to have at their tournament. Well, this week we have our delightful massage chairs at the Tour Championship at Willow Creek Country Club in Sandy, Utah.

We actually have one of our chairs in the player’s lounge and I love peaking in there to see PGA pro’s using our massage chair (the HT-1650 massage chair).

The weather has been quite crisp and cool in the mornings since we had an Alaskan storm hit us and drop temperatures way down, but as the day warms up and the sun comes out, the weather is fantastic and the setting is so beautiful. I have never been a great golfer, but I have always loved the golf course settings…and Willow Creek is one of the most beautiful settings I have seen. You see the course is older so the trees are quite mature and the back drop to this course is the Wasatch mountain range. Oh my, it is so beautiful and serene. I wish you could all see it.

I will submit some more photos tomorrow when I go back to the tournament. I just included a pic of the Tour semi-truck to prove to you that I wasn’t kidding about being at the tour championship.

Have a super day!

Inada Sogno Massage Chair Warranty Change for September 2008!

inada sogno massage chair
inada sogno massage chair

I just received an email from Cliff Levin, president of FIUS, the US distributor for Inada massage chairs. He tells me that for the month of September, 2008 Inada will offer a FULL 5-year warranty for the Inada Sogno PLUS massage chair!

Yes, that is right…a full, 5-year home coverage warranty that a client typically has to typically purchase in addition to standard warranty coverage.  Here is the text of the email:

Dear Inada Dealer:

The finest massage chair on the market now comes with the best pre-packaged warranty plan!
SOGNO is now the hottest chair with the hottest warranty to back it up! People who have yet to jump in will not want to be left in the dust as this goldmine heats up to Q4. There is no time like the present to get on board with SOGNO.

All SOGNO Plus purchases made between September 1 and September 30, 2008 will AUTOMATICALLY come with a 5 YEAR FULL IN HOME SERVICE & PARTS WARRANTY which includes our standard “repair or replace” promise.   The warranty coverage extends for 5 years from the date of PURCHASE on the register receipt. As far as I know, no other massage chair company has ever offered such a plan! If this plan is popular and successful, INADA will consider extending it for an additional month or more.

I ask that you share this as soon as possible with the entire network. It deals with 3 issues that may come up as objections:

1)      It takes away any risk (real or perceived) of malfunction associated with the purchase;
2)      It addresses price objections by “pegging” the cost over the first 5 years of use. If you buy another chair without such a warranty – especially if it is not of the quality of INADA – costs can increase over time as you spend to keep your chair operational;
3)      It demonstrates the underlying quality of INADA to begin with. We can only afford this because, due to initial product quality, our warranty costs over time are extremely low.

Register receipts must be dated between September 1 and 30, 2008 and we must be asked to ship the order immediately / very soon. This may be advertised as a savings from the regular warranty retail price ($479) or with something like “the only massage chair on the market with a 5 year FULL parts and FULL labor warranty”. Stores may purchase extended warranties for floor model they sell, but they are not free with sale of a floor model.

In a nutshell, here is how the coverage works:
–          Your Sogno PLUS will be serviced in home. If there is no tech within a reasonable distance, we will pay to ship the chair for factory service.
–          The warranty covers all defects for 5 full years from purchase. Parts AND labor are fully covered.
–          If we are unable to repair the chair, it will be replaced with a similarly priced or identical chair at no cost to the consumer.
–          It is good in the USA and Canada.
–          Like all warranties, it does not cover abuse by people or pets or being dropped out a window

At this moment – it will change week to week due to demand – we are shipping all SOGNO colors within 1 week of receiving a P/O.
Let me know if you have any questions and good luck with this exceptional promotion.

Best regards,

Cliff Levin
FIUS Distributors

So, there you go…an extended 5-year warranty on our currently most popular chair.  If you haven’t tried out this chair yet, please do. It will blow you away. Remember that this warranty offer is only applicable to the Sogno PLUS, and not the Standard Sogno.

Please call us at toll-free at 1-888-259-5380 if you have any additional questions or if you would like to purchase this chair. As I have mentioned before on this blog, you can only purchase this massage chair over the phone or in our store. You cannot place the order on our website…so just give us a call.

Inada Sogno Massage Chair Special Orders!

inada sogno massage chair creme color
inada sogno massage chair creme color

I had a phone call a couple of weeks ago about getting the Inada Sogno massage chair in a green color. This customer had Inada Sogno Massage Chairseen a green one in his mother-in-laws home that she had purchased in Taiwan and wanted to know if we could get him the same color. I called the distributor and they said “Sure”, but with a couple of caveats:

1. $1000 extra to make a special order (you see, green is not a standard color in either of the Sogno models), and

2. the buyer has to pay for shipping from Inada in Japan to USA.

So, after learning that the customer decided to get a regular “stock” color.  But, this is good information for those of you that may be pondering a special order. I’m sure it will make some of you think twice!

Also, I just wrote an article about the Inada Sogno massage chair and posted it on the web. Here is a link to the article:

Inada Sogno Massage Chair Article

I rather like this article, if I don’t mind saying so myself! I hope you enjoy it, too. If you are interested in more information on this amazing chair or if you would like to purchase one, feel free to call us at our showroom, 1-801-417-8240, or call us toll-free on our website at 1-888-259-5380. Steffanie or I will gladly take care of you.

Did you know that the Sogno massage chair comes in two boxes?  White Glove Service (WGS) is a must-have when ordering these chairs. We include the WGS whenever a Sogno is ordered through our website. Steffanie and I actually put together our Sogno Dream Wave PLUS on our own when we received it and it did take us quite a bit of time to assemble it. It is not that it is terribly hard, but it is just time-consuming. It definitely is better to take advantage of the WGS when ordering this chair.

New Panasonic Massage Chair Model Coming Out In September!

I just learned yesterday that Panasonic has a new massage chair coming out and it is supposed to be a beauty. It will be part of the 30000 series and will probably be labeled the Panasonic 30007 Massage Lounger. It will be manufactured in Japan, which is a departure from the other members of the 30000 family, which are currently manufactured in China.

I am also told that the price tag on this model will be quite high. I know nothing of the features, look, or functions, but I do know that it will be a step up from the Panasonic 30006 massage chair, which is the high end model heretofore only found at The Sharper Image specialty stores.

By the way, for those of you who have been following my blog entires on the 30006, I can tell you that the Panasonic 30006 shipment that I spoke of, where the price was dropped down from $4999 to $3699, has only 3 black ones left. So, if you are thinking of getting that massage chair and have been sitting on the fence about whether to buy it or not…get off the fence and take action before this amazingly low price is gone. Only 3 left. And, remember, we don’t have this model on our website, so if you want it you have to call our toll-free number, 1-888-259-5380, to place the order.

I will keep you posted about the Panasonic 30007 when I get more info on it. Before I forget, I was also told that the Panasonic 3222 massage chair model has  been discontinued. There are a few in stock, but no new chairs are going to be available once the current stock is gone. The 3222 has been around a long time and was the Panasonic massage chair of choice before the 30000 series came along. We will be removing it from my site within a week or so.

HT-7120 Massage Chair Dark Chocolate Color Discontinued!

ht5005 massage chair - espresso color
ht5005 massage chair - espresso color

I received notice on Friday that the Dark Chocolate color in the HT-7120 massage chair by Human Touch has been discontinued. The company is filling back orders, but once they are filled, the Dark Chocolate will be replaced by “Espresso”, an even darker chocolate color which, according to Human Touch, looks like “semi-sweet chocolate”…a rich dark brown. I have put up an image of the HT-5005, a new chair that we carry from Human Touch, which is upholstered in the same espresso color. This will at least give you an idea of the color. It “kinda” looks like black I suppose, but it is a very dark, rich brown color.
So, although we still have the dark chocolate on the website, the color will be changed to espresso as soon as that chair color is available, and I am told that it will be around in late August or early September. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us about it.

Sorry about the loss of the dark chocolate. My experience of it is that it was a very popular color, relative to the black, but it is a corporate decision and that is how it is!

By the way, we should have the new chairs I spoke about on my last blog entry up within a week or so.

New Massage Chairs on the Way!

Hello, everyone!

I just wanted to mention that I am quite excited about a whole bunch of new massage chairs that we are going to be carrying. Here is a list of them with their accompanying prices and links to Human Touch’s website to learn about the chairs before we get them up on our website:

1. iJoy 130 – $749

2. iJoy 300 – $999

3. HT-2720 (iJoy family) – $999

4. HT-5270 – $2499

5. HT-5320 – $2999

6. HT-5005 – $1999

7. HT-103 – $1499

For those of you who didn’t know, the iJoy brand, which is a very popular and inexpensive brand of massage chair, is also manufactured by Human Touch. Very affordable chairs, but not with the features that the HT family of chairs has. Even the HT-103 has more to offer than the iJoy brand. But, of course, the iJoys fit a perfect demographic…typically younger folks with a little less income.

Human Touch is a very innovative, progressive massage chair company and is constantly working on new designs and technologies. That is why we have new models like the HT-5270, HT-5320, and HT-5005. The HT-5005 is the second massage chair that Human Touch has put out that looks like a recliner and not a massage chair. the HT-5270 is also “kinda” like that too…in that it is a massage chair that is not blatantly a massage chair as far as the looks go.

The HT-5320 is a heavy chair and looks great, while trying to implement the same kind of ottoman as the HT-1650 massage chair in a less expensive, more contemporary massage chair. It also has an air “loop” that can go around the thighs or arms on both sides to massage those body parts as well. Very interesting addition…something I have never seen on another chair.

Of the chairs we are adding, so far we only have the iJoy 130 in our showroom. But all the chairs will be up on our website within the next week or so. I’ll notify you all when they are up and running.

Have a great weekend!

Another Massage Chair Question From A Site Visitor…

I have decided that as I receive massage chair questions from visitors to our site, and if the question is one that I feel would benefit my readership and visitorship, I will post the question and my subsequent answer on this blog. How does that sound? I am sure that many, if not all, of you have similar questions on your minds as you shop for a massage chair.

Here is the question and response…

“Which chair has the best features for the lowest cost?”

Hi, Brian!
Thanks for your email. A great, but loaded question. I would have to say with the temporary low price on the Panasonic 30003 massage chair, that would be the best bang for your buck. If you are quite tall, however, this chair would not be the best for stretching out and also having the foot massage. When one is too tall, over 6’2″, the leg extends beyond the foot massager and the side of the foot and ankle get massaged instead. This chair has 5 auto programs, but no heat or seat massage. It comes in black or brown and is upholstered with man-made leather.

For aesthetics and function, we would also pick the Human Touch HT-7120 massage chair, which has a very nice look, leather upholstery, and has massage intensity adjustment along with calf width adjustment. It also has low back heat. No seat massage, no foot massager. The HT-125/135/136 chairs are a step down from the HT-7120…they do not have massage intensity adjustment, calf width adjustment, or lumbar heat. They are very reasonably priced quality chairs, however, but I would still take the HT-7120 over them for the few extra hundred  bucks.

We just received the Inada i2A massage chair and have been quite impressed with the chair. It feels very comfortable to sit in it and has pre-programmed settings, but we notice that it does not have massage intensity adjustment. Folks that have tried it out thus far, have given it rave reviews. You are looking at a little more money than the HT-7120 at $3299, but a very nice chair. It is also synthetic, man-made leather and does not have heat. It has pre-programmed settings and also has a seat massage.

I hope this helps in some way. Let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with. We are currently working on a chair comparison chart which will address so many comparative issues.

Panasonic 30006 Massage Chairs Around For About Another Week!

I told you a week or two ago in this blog ( that we had access to some Panasonic 30006 massage chairs at a very special price. Well, we found out this week that the supply is very limited and will probably be gone by next week. So, what I am saying is if you are thinking about the price and the possibility of getting this chair at this price, DON’T WASTE ANOTHER MINUTE!!

This apparently was a one-time shipment of chairs priced below cost and only in black color. We have sold a bunch of them since I made this price available, but they are almost gone. I have been asked a number of times if the brown is available…no it is not…black only. These are the massage chairs that are Panasonic’s top of the line and heretofore only available through The Sharper Image. It seems as though there are some extra chairs around since The Sharper Image filed bankruptcy.

I have no idea if more will be available, but I will notify you through this blog if more come in. But, don’t hold your breath. I was told that this was a limited supply and that is exactly how we are looking at it for now.

By the way, don’t forget that you can only order this chair from us over the phone. We don’t have it on our website and may never have it on the site if the chairs are not made available to us on a permanent basis. You can call us toll-free at 1-888-259-5380 and we’ll get your order taken care of (if there is still stock left!).
Have a great day, and thank you for your continued support and enjoyment of our site.

A Great Massage Chair Question… And My Answer

I received a good question from one of my website visitors yesterday. He lives in England and asked a question that probably a lot of folks have…about low back pain, sciatica, and degenerative disc disease, and which massage chair would be most suitable. Below is the question and my response. I hope it assists you in some way…

Hello Dr Weidner,

I am 54 years old, fit and not overweight, but my surgeon has told me i have degenerative disc disease. I regular get bouts of sciatica in the legs usually after playing tennis or doing gardening activities and always suffering with stiffness in the back (stretching helps me very much).

Could you please advice which chair would be most helpful with my condition.

(I would want it situated in my very contempory lounge

Kind regards

Hello, again, S.D.!
Thanks for the information. Sciatica has always been a difficult condition to handle, since it can be secondary to severe muscle spasm, herniated disc, or degenerative arthritis.

The Sogno is a delightful chair, but what makes it so interesting is this new Dream Wave technology. I am including a link to my site where a video of the chair is available. Take a look at how the seat shifts and the hip airbags work the hips. The chair, at the same time, also rotates the lumbar spine one way and then the other, while the seat is shifting and the hips are being massaged. It is certainly the most thorough of any massage chair in this area that I have ever seen.

Here is the link:
(Just click on the “product video” section and enjoy.)

While I was in practice, I always had a concern with other massage chairs, that the buttock and sacroiliac joints didn’t
get the attention they deserved. This Sogno is the first to take a decent stab at it.
Also, the Sogno is the most contemporary looking massage chair I have ever seen.

Now, having said that about the Sogno, let me talk a little bit about the anti/zero gravity massage chairs, the HT-7450 by Human Touch and the Sanyo 6700. These chairs were born of the decompression fad going on here in the US. Spinal decompression is all the rage for low back pain sufferers, particularly those of discogenic origin (disc problems). Human Touch and Sanyo have taken that decompression idea and coupled it with regular massage chair function. It is a novel idea and my clients seem to love it. I have the HT-7450 in my showroom and on the website, but the Sanyo 6700 is only on my website. I have never sat in the 6700. We sell quite a few of them. The idea of these chairs is to tilt the whole body back, by reclining the chair back AND tilting the seat up to about 45 degrees. Most other chairs have a reclining back of course, but the seat normally stays horizontal. The antigravity chairs tilt evetything back…almost to the point where you feel like the chair is going to slide you off the back! It opens up – decompresses – the back, particularly the low back.

You can take a look at the images through the links below to see if they look contemporary enough. The HT-7450 can look like an executive office chair when it is upright. The Sanyo looks like a pretty traditional massage chair.

I will get a shipping quote later today for the Sogno. If you would like a shipping quote for any of these other chairs, let me know. By the way, the Sogno ships in two boxes, whereas the other two models ship in one.

Massage Chair is Astrological Love Lucky Item!! Who Knew??

I just ran across an astrology website and found something that made me laugh with joy. It is a daily love horoscope and for the day of Saturday, July 19, 2008, and for the sign of Pisces, it lists “massage chair” as the astrological love lucky item for the day!  Isn’t that great? I love it!

I knew that massage chairs were special but I had no idea that they were a love lucky item. Well, Pisces, you better get yourself a massage chair…if you want to  be lucky in love. Hhhmmm, I wonder what the lucky love item is for Leo today (that’s me)? Oh well, I just checked and it is a “face washer”. That isn’t nearly as neat as a massage chair…what is a face washer anyways?

Panasonic 30006 Massage Chairs Now Available…By Phone Only

We have been notified by Panasonic that we are able to make the Panasonic 30006 massage lounger, previously only available through The Sharper Image stores, available to our clients. However, this news is quite new, so we don’t have the chairs on our website yet. But, we can sell them over the phone. The 30006 is the top of the line chair of the 30000 series from Panasonic. You can go to this link to check out the comparison between the 30006 and the 30003 and 30004 that we already have on our website. It is a great way to evaluate the different Panasonic models to compare and contrast:

Panasonic Chair Comparison

The best part of all is the price. These chairs sold for $4999 at The Sharper Image, but we are making them available to you for $3699.  This is a substantial savings (duh!) and while the supplies last, you should take advantage of the pricing.  As of today’s date, we can only make the black model available.

By the way, we currently have the price of the Panasonic 30003 massage  chair at $2499, quite a savings from the regular $3999 pricing.

Call us at 1-888-259-5380 and we can answer your questions and place your order for you.

Human Touch Preferred Health Care Retailer

I am proud to report that we have been added to the list of Human Touch preferred health care retailers for the massage chair manufacturing giant. As a matter of fact, we are the largest health care retailer of Human Touch massage chairs in the country. It all started about 5 years ago when a patient asked me if I could find him a massage chair for his golf course club house. I got him an old HTT-110 from Human Touch, which is still in use today…even after all the usage you would expect at a golf course club house!

After that I figured I’d order a massage chair for the clinic so that I could see how they actually feel and how patient’s would respond to it as a form of therapy. Well, of course, the patients loved it and it has been used daily ever since. As a matter of fact, I still have that HT-125 massage chair in my new showroom.

We sold a few at Christmas time each year, which prompted me to petition Human Touch about building a website to sell them to my patients. They said it would be OK , although if I were to do it nowadays, I could only put them on my existing chiropractic site. Well, the rest, as they say, is history. Now, we are the largest health care provider of Human Touch massage chairs in the US. We also sell massage chairs around the world. It is a wonderful business for our family. All the kids have been involved in one way or another in the business and my wife just loves selling these chairs.

Thanks for all your support and patronage. It is a pleasure serving you.

Massage Chair Relief on Studio 5 Television Again!

I was invited back to the Studio 5 noon hour television show again on local channel KSL 5 here in Salt Lake City. This time I brought along the new Sogno Dream Wave PLUS massage chair by Inada and it was quite well received. Folks are typically quite surprised by how much the chair actually does to your body. Virtually every part of your back and side are massaged by some airbag or roller. When choosing the best indoor tv antenna make sure you check what channels you are getting so you can watch us on studio 5.

This time we had both hosts gathered around the chair and before the taping even began I had them both go through a session with the chair. They absolutely loved it.

I will be going on the show every 6 weeks or so to showcase a new model or a feature from a previous model.

Here is the link to the clip:

Massage Chair Relief on Studio 5 KSL

Notice the way the Dream Wave technology moves the hips from side to side and front and back. The seat works like a shifting plate…very unique.

Enjoy (a bit of my Canadian accent comes out in this one)!

The Sogno PLUS Massage Chair Has Arrived!

sogno massage chair with Dr Weidner Sitting
sogno massage chair with Dr Weidner Sitting

After months of waiting, the wait is over! We received our Inada Sogno PLUS and i2A massage chairs this morning. It took us most of the morning to assemble the Sogno chair. It was quite a task to put it together. The foot rest and the sides have to be assembled. The chair came in two large boxes, but assembled it weighed 250 pounds, 40 lbs. less than the HT-1650. The assembling instructions are pretty straight forward, but the time it took to assemble was quite a while. Fortunately for all Songo buyers, the chair comes with White Glove Service…in other words, the shippers will assemble the chair in your home and/or business.

We got the creme colored Sogno PLUS massage chair. Now, I have been calling it the Dream Weaver PLUS chair in previous blog posts, but it is actually the Dream WAVE PLUS chair. I was messed up with the name for a time, but now we have straightened ourselves out. I sat in the chair this afternoon for the first time and it was quite a ride! I actually fell asleep while Steffanie was explaining the chair functions to me.

We also set up our Inada i2A massage chair this morning and took it for a test drive too. A very nice massage. I am embarrassed to say but this was the first time I had ever sat in an Inada massage chair. Human Touch used to carry the i2A, but called it the RMS-10, years ago when I first began selling massage chairs, but I had never actually sat in one. It is a very nice massage chair…you can tell that this company’s chairs are built with quality, just with the look and feel of the chairs. I also noticed that the Sogno massage chair is made in Japan, while the i2A is made in China.

Steffanie and I both are taking notes about the chairs and will provide a more in-depth review of theSogno massage chair front view chairs in future blog posts. But, for now, we are really enjoying them. Comments from the showroom visitors today share our feeling that these are very nice massage chairs. Here are a couple of pics of me on the new Sogno massage chair.

Sogno PLUS Massage Chairs First Shipment Already Sold Out!

I got off the phone yesterday with Cliff Levin, President of the FIUS, the US Distributor for Family Inada massage chairs, after telling me that the shipment of Inada Sogno Dreamweaver PLUS massage chairs that was to have reached folks by the third week of July is completely SOLD OUT already! Fortunately we had some orders that were filled with this shipment, but I have plenty of other folks that are waiting till the last minute to place their order with us.

This is all I have to say…if you want a Sogno Dreamweaver PLUS massage chair (and I rarely get calls about the standard Sogno model, by the way) you better get ordering today, because these chairs are so “hot” that they are pre-sold before the shipment even comes in and if you don’t have your stake in one, you will have to wait…and wait…and wait…

The next shipment is coming in the first week of August and Cliff tells me that their are only a few chairs unspoken for at this point…but they will be taken very soon. So, if you are considering getting one of these revolutionary new massage chairs, don’t sit on your butt. Get on the phone and call us right now to assure that you get your chair before anyone else does.

Since ordering these chairs online is a “no-no”, you must call us to place your order. You can all us toll-free at 1-888-259-5380 or you can call our showroom’s local Utah number at 1-801-417-8240 and speak to Steffanie about placing your order for you.

We are finally getting our new Sogno Dreamweaver PLUS massage chair next week and, I’ve got to tell you, we are so excited about it. I’ll give you a full report on this blog once I get the chair tested and evaluated.

Did I also mention that the Sogno PLUS is only sold through select health care providers. I am your man (or doctor)!!

Have a super day…and don’t delay.

Massage Chairs at the Green River Rendezvous!

Green River Massage Chair event
Green River Massage Chair event

I am writing this blog entry from beautiful Pinedale, Wyoming…home to the Green River Mountain Man Rendezvous. We were invited to attend this event and bring our massage chairs along. So, my wife, Mona, our Commercial Sales Manager, Steffanie, and myself left for the Rendezvous on Wednesday of this week. The weather has been great and the folks so down to earth and kind. Pinedale is a quiet little town at the base of the Wind River Mountains and is home to much of the Wyoming gas and oil industry. You can see a picture of me and BK, also known as Black Kettle, a mountain man original. Although he has only had electricity in his home for 3 years now, he sat on the HT-1650 everyday…at least twice. You see…a massage chair even works wonders for Mountain Men!!

Green River RendezvousAs usual, our massage chairs are a novelty, and folks are always attracted to sitting on them. Here is a photo I took with my cell phone showing our chairs at the Rendezvous with Mona and Steffanie in the background.

Other than the Rendezvous, I just wanted to say that we are working on a new home page redesign for It is something I’ve wanted to do for a while and it will include, among other things, a method to searching for chair models based on various features, a special of the month section, more testimonials on the home page, and some live video of yours truly to introduce folks to the site. I’ll keep you posted.

The Great Billy Casper Sat On Our Massage Chair!

Our chairs were featured at the annual Rivalry Cup at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah. ItBilly Casper on our massage chair is a local event sponsored by Real Golf Radio and their hosts, Bob Casper and Brian Taylor. Real Golf Radio is a nationally syndicated golf radio program that broadcasts from the clubhouse at Thanksgiving Point. The course is beautiful and the the Rivalry Cup is a golf tournament that pits BYU alumni against Utah alumni. For those of you who don’t know, BYU and the U are rivals and love to beat each other up…particularly in college football games. Being from Alberta, Canada I liken it unto the fabulous Calgary/Edmonton rivalries over the years in hockey (hockey <—> golf…very similar, i.e. Happy Gilmore!)

They invited us to bring our massage chairs for the golfers to use before and afterBilly Casper on our massage chair competing. It was a wonderful day and we got to meet some fantastic people, like legendary Hall-of-Fame golfer, Billy Casper. Steffanie took a couple of shots of him on the HT-1650 massage chair (everyone seems to enjoy that one!). Chad Lewis former tight end for the Philadephia Eagles, among others, also enjoyed our massage chairs. By the way, BYU won! (Utah won last year…the first inaugural tournament). I should also mention that everyone loved the chairs. Lots of oohs and aahs.

We’d like to thank Bob and Brian for inviting us out to the golf course and treating us like royalty while we were there. These are two awesome fellows. We had a great time and saw some awesome golf.

The Sanyo 6700 Replacing the Sanyo 7700 Massage Chair

Sanyo 6700
Sanyo 6700

Apparently, from here on out, Sanyo is selling their zero-gravity Sanyo 7700 massage chair exclusively through Relax The Back stores. So, they have provided another model, almost identical to the 7700 called the Sanyo 6700 massage chair. What are the differences, you ask? Well, there are only 3 and here they are:

1. The Sanyo 6700 massage chair has one zero-gravity position, whereas the Sanyo 7700 has two.

2. The Sanyo 6700 has a Quick Course (a short pre-programmed auto program in addition to the regular automatic programs), which the Sanyo 7700 does not have, but the Sanyo 7700 has an “Air Only” course of massage which the 6700 does not have.

3. The Sanyo 7700 has 2 seat airbags and 2 upper bag airbags, which the Sanyo 6700 does not have. Of course, both chairs have the regular upper back rollers…the 6700 just doesn’t have the air bags in the upper back. The 7700 has two more airbags in the leg airbags than does the 6700 (20 vs. 18).

4. The Sanyo 7700 massage chair has an adjustable leg length extension. The Sanyo 6700 does not require that feature because it has the same ottoman design as the Sanyo 5000 which extends the foot rest to accommodate the longer leg of some users. The Sanyo 7700 has a ottoman similar in design to the HT-1650 which is one piece without a movable footrest. No big deal.

And that, my friends, is about it as far as differences between the two chairs. Oh yeah, and the price of the Sanyo 6700 is $500 less than the 7700! So, it’s regular retail price is $4499. So, from here on out, we will only be selling the Sanyo 6700 model on our website and in our showrooms.

Here is a link to the product brochure of the Sanyo 6700 massage chair: Sanyo 6700 massage chair brochure.

You can click on this link to take a look at a comparison chart of the 2 models: Sanyo 6700 and Sanyo 7700 comparison chart.

Our “Massage Chair Relief” Grand Opening Was Awesome!!

weidners-grand-opening-0081.jpgweidners-grand-opening-0051.jpgI’d like to report to you that our Grand Opening of our Massage Chair Relief showroom was fantastic! We had GaryMichaels from Arrow 103.5 broadcast from the showroom and we had plenty of opportunity to talk about our new store showroom, products, and website on the air with Gary. He was very gracious to give us lots of air time.

Many people came by to visit and “test drive” our chairs. Everyone loves them. The highlight of the day was a visit from Suzette Willcox, the Sales Manager of the Health Care Division of Human Touch! She traveled from Long Beach early in the morning to be here on our special day. We so appreciate the support of Human Touch at our Grand Opening. Suzie brought a beautiful Human    weidners-grand-opening-0131.jpgweidners-grand-opening-0061.jpgTouch banner/sign as a showroom-warming gift. It is awesome and sits at the front of the showroom in the main window.

I’ve put up some pictures of the event so that you can see what was going on.

I also put up a link to an mp3 file of one of the on-air conversations we had with Gary Michaels, the DJ from Arrow 103.5. Enjoy:

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Grand Opening and to everyone who has supported us through the years, bringing us to this point and time in our business! We are so grateful.

Massage Chair Buyers Survey

I conducted a 10 question survey over the last two weeks and the results were somewhat surprising. What I did was create a small, 10 question survey that covered some of the topics that I always wondered about that were going on in the minds of the visitors to my website. I sent out the survey to everyone who had subscribed to my special report “5 Things You Absolutely Must Know Before You Even Consider Investing In A High Quality, Robotic Massage Chair”. Here are a couple of insights that I gleaned from that survey:

1. 78.3% of massage chair buyers were male.
2. 67% of massage chair shoppers were looking for pain relief in a massage chair.
3. 56% of buyers fell within an income range below $100,000 (massage chairs are not just for the rich and famous!).
4. I also learned that only 11% of my subscribers cared about getting the bonus gifts with a purchase (hhmmm…may have to reconsider that one, eh?)
5. back massage intensity adjustment was the most important thing for shoppers of massage chairs (81.1% of folks were looking for this feature in a chair).
6. 97.2% of our shoppers found our website,, very easy to navigate around.

I would love it if you would take our survey too. I appreciate all the input I can get to make my site and business as wonderful as it can be. And, with your assistance, I can do it!

Here is the link:

There are two pages…each one with 5 questions. It will take you  less than 5 minutes to take the survey and your input will have an effect on how we manage our site and business.

Thank you so much for your input. It is very much appreciated.

My Interview With Family Inada US Distribution President, Cliff Levin

I mentioned last week that I had a telephone interview with Cliff Levin, president of the US Distribution arm of Family Inada massage chairs. I said I would post a link to the interview once I had it edited and ready to go. Well, it is ready to go. Below is the link to that interview. It is about 50 minutes long and we discuss a number of things, from the new and exciting Sogno massage chair to the other Inada models to some of the industry issues at the current time. I hope you enjoy it.

The Sogno massage chair is available right now to order. The Sogno Dreamweaver Plus will not be available until the third week in June. You must call our showroom or our toll free number if you wish to order a new Sogno massage chair. Sogno massage chairOnline shopping cart sales are not part of the retail agreement with Inada. So, give us a call at either 1-888-259-5380 or 801-417-8240.

Have a great day!

Hey, Look Mom, I’m On TV!

We were invited to bring one of our massage chairs down to KSL, which is the local NBC affiliate, to demonstrate it on the noon hour TV show, Studio 5. So, I went down with my black HT-1650 massage chair and showed it to the great citizens of Utah. Below is a link. I am certainly not TV personality material, but I sure appreciated the chance to show our cool chair to the public. The host,  Darren, seemed to really enjoy it, don’t you think?

Here is the link to the segment:

My wife and I were over at the showroom last night putting some finishing touches on the showroom preparatory to our Grand Opening on Saturday. We are pretty excited about it. I will post some pictures of the event over the weekend so you can see what was going on.

Did I also mention that we will begin carrying the two of the iJoy models, the iJoy 300 and the HT-2720, as well as the Perfect Chair, all by Human Touch? These chairs should be on the website and the showroom this next month.

Dang…Massage Chairs Can Be So Cute!

I just came out of the back office to check on my son, who came to work with me today and I found him, fast asleep, on the Omega Montage massage chair, apparently listening to some soothing music on the headphones from the built-in mp3 player. It was so dang cute that I had to take a picture and share it with you all. This is one of the perks of owning a massage chair…putting your kids to sleep and then being able to adore them when they fall asleep (and some times that is the only time you can adore them!!). This son loves to help out his dad and mom when he can.

By the way, we are busy getting ready for the Grand Opening this Saturday. We are excited about it. We have been doing some radio ads and have a local classic rock station coming on Saturday to do a remote broadcast from the new showroom. Today, the electrician has been over all day putting up the sconce lighting that my good wife, Mona, purchased for the showroom. All the decorating, by the way, I leave to her…she has a real knack for decorating and making things look really good. Our showroom has a real “homey” feel to it, thanks to her. It truly feels like a lovely living room of a home.

In July, I mentioned that we will be having the new Inada massage chairs in the showroom, but I failed to mention that we will also be having an iJoy chair and a Perfect Chair, both manufactured by Human Touch, in the showroom too. The iJoy chairs are a lesser priced, less luxurious chair that are great for college kids and lesser budget massage chair shoppers. It does not have a leg/calf massager and it sits low to the ground. The Perfect Chair is not a massage chair, but an anti-gravity chair that is the predecessor to the HT-7450. It is a very comfortable chair, great for low back pain, and about half the price of the HT-7450. So, you get the anti-gravity feature without the massage.

Talk to you soon. I’ve got to get back to work on the showroom.

Sogno Massage Chair News and Interviews With Fius President

I just found out today that the delivery date of the Sogno Dreamweaver PLUS massage chair, of which I am so excited to finally see and experience, is being pushed back to the third week of July. It is going to be such a big deal with this chair that I totally get why it is hard to find one around. I pre-ordered mine way back at the beginning of the year, and am still awaiting it’s arrival. The moment I get it in the showroom, I will test and retest it (which means I’ll be sitting in it all day!!) and then will post on the blog so that you can get my feedback about it.

The regular Sogno massage chair is now out on the market and is available to be bought for $5999. It costs about $500 less than the Dreamweaver Plus chair ($6499), but doesn’t have the following features that only the Sogno PLUS does have:

1. heated seat
2. dreamweaver seat massage
3. 3-D massage rollers.
4. the cream color that you see on the video and images is only available on the PLUS model, NOT the Standard model.Sogno massage chair

I have far more requests for the Dreamweaver PLUS Sogno chair because of these four features. It seems to be far more popular at this point. I suppose that is why it is back ordered for so long.

Here is an interesting thing you should know about the Inada massage chairs…although I can display it on my website, Inada will not allow online retailers to sell the massage chairs using an online shopping cart. The pricing is displayed and the chair information is all on the site, but to order one, you must call us over the phone to place the order. As a matter of fact, the Sogno Dreamweaver PLUS cannot even be displayed on the website…it is only to be demonstrated in a health care provider’s clinic or in a specialty retail store showroom.

In the meantime, I had a phone interview on May 27, 2008 with the president of FIUS, which is the US distributor for Inada chairs. His name is Cliff Levin and he spent close to an hour answering my questions and telling us a lot about the Sogno chair, the workings of family Inada in Japan, and brief overviews of most of the products we will be selling in our store in July. He is a wonderful fellow and really answered my questions thoroughly and clearly. FIUS, by the way, stands for Family Inada US.

I will provide a link to the interview as soon as it is edited and I have it posted to my website.

Sanyo HEC 5000 Massage Chair Scanning Function

Sanyo massage chairs have an interesting twist on the body scan technology. As with most of the finer massage chair manufacturers, Sanyo has a height, weight, and muscle tone assessment feature in their body scan technology, but they have added something else that is quite interesting and that patients seem to get a kick out of…the heart/pulse rate, perspiration, and temperature scan.

Sanyo has added an additional remote that sits in a caddy of the main remote control of each chair. This remote has a couple of areas on the back of it that are shiny silver in color over which the user places his/her right hand. You would hold it as though you were holding a small walkie-talkie. This is what the sensor uses to determine your heart/pulse rate, perspiration, and body temperature.

While you are being scanned, the massage chair technology will display the results of that scan, along with the typical height, weight, and muscle tension scan, on the main remote control display. There is a figure of a seated body with blue dots all over it’s back side, indicating the places of the body that are being scanned.

The scan results are displayed as red circles around the blue dots on the body drawing on the remote control. So, during the scan, red circles will show up around the blue dots representing the parts of the body just scanned. Once the scan is complete, the user can do one of two things:

  1. Put the scanner back onto the cradle and just enjoy the massage, or
  2. Continue to hold the scanner throughout the massage and see what happens to the red circles on the body figure on the remote. It surprises us to see that as the massage chair focuses on the areas of the body where the red circles are found, the red circles begin to disappear over the course of the massage session. In other words, as the massage chair works on the rough areas of the spine and fixes them, the body sensor can actually tell that it is better and the red circles are then removed. Now, if the rough spots are really bad, it may not get rid of the red circles during just one session. It may take a few sessions. But, the fact that the chair can tell right away where the improvement is being made is quite impressive.

The patients just love this feature. To use the vernacular of my teenage years…it’s pretty “cool”.

What is always interesting to us when we have a new client sit in the Sanyo massage chair, is that when the scanner displays the red circles on the person’s spine on the remote control display, based on the scan findings, the user always says “Yep, that’s where I hurt!”…that happens pretty much every time!

By the way, there is no fixed timer on the Sanyo massage chairs because of this scanner technology. Whereas other chairs have a fixed 10, 15, 20, or even 30 minute massage setting, the Sanyo varies between 20-25 minutes because the massage program is catered to the findings of the body sensors. It just might take a little longer on some of our spines because our spines just might be a little more messed up than others.

Massage Chair Body Scanning Function

Every upper end massage chair nowadays has a scanning feature of some sort that checks out your spine prior to beginning your massage session. The feature is designed to get a feel for your height, weight, and muscle tight spots to figure out how intense the chair will decide to massage you. Very fascinating, actually.

What this means, is that each person that sits on a massage chair could have an entirely different massage than any other person that sits on the same chair. What is even more interesting, each person that sits on a massage chair will have a different massage each time he/she sits on the massage chair if the musculature of the user has changed from session to session.

For example, if I sit on a massage chair in the morning, after a good night’s sleep, the massage chair will scan me based on the relaxed musculature of a night’s rest. If I have a tough, stressful day, that very same day, or if I become injured playing basketball or get in a car accident, and my musculature changes accordingly, the reading of the massage chair scan could be completely different. Thus, my massage at the beginning of the day and my massage at the end of the day may be completely different.

This personalizes the massage that much more. I think this is a development in massage chair technology that just further adds to the effectiveness of massage chair recliners and further allows the chairs to compete with real therapists. Of course, nothing we have in the industry, right now, completely mimics the hands of a licensed and trained massage therapist or even a chiropractor, but I can tell you…they are working on it!

I will discuss individual manufacturer’s body scanning technologies in subsequent blog entries. Though most of the quality massage chair manufacturers have body scan technology in some shape and form, they are different and proprietary for each company.

Bonus Gift Change

As you may or may not know, with every online purchase of a massage chair on, I include some complimentary bonus gifts. Those gifts include a 3-day, 2-night mini-vacation, a hand massager, a travel-core neck pillow, Sombra muscle cream, and a couple of ice packs. Well, I was just notified this morning that the hand massager has been discontinued, so from here on out, the bonus gift package will not include that gift. I apologize for that, but it is completely out of control. They claim to have a replacement massager that will be available in the fall, so perhaps we will add a new one at that time.

In the meantime, of course you will still receive the other gifts, just as before, but, best of all, you get a fantastic massage chair from any one of 5 major suppliers with a fantastic warranty (oh yeah, and don’t forget, if you buy before June 20, 2008, you also save some major bucks on the HT-7450 and HT-1650 from Human Touch!).

Have a super day!

By the way, stay tuned for some information in the weeks to come about our grand opening and the media hype around that.

New Massage Chair Showroom Update

As I mentioned a week or so ago, we are moving our showroom to another suite, where we can dedicate the whole space to massage chairs and not share with the chiropractic clinic. Another Doctor is managing the clinic now, leaving me to look after the massage chair business full time. I absolutely love the massage chair business, especially the internet end of it.

We had the walls textured and painted at the end of last week. We also had some tile put in the front entrance and had the carpet laid today. It looks beautiful…like a living room. You will feel so comfortable when you come visit us; just like you are in your own home. Tomorrow we will move the massage chairs over to the showroom and my wife still has some decorating to do. We are also going to go with as much incandescent lighting as possible and stay away from the fluorescent which are built into this building where the showroom now is. We figure that the natural lighting will feel better and warmer than the fluorescent bulbs which are so commonplace in commercial businesses.

We should be getting the new Inada massage chairs this month, along with the HT-103 and the Perfect Chair by Human Touch. We are excited to expand our brick and mortar selection for the good people of Utah. Some day we will have such a massage chair showroom in your city!

Our new address will be 2248 W. 5400 S. , Taylorsville, Utah. Our local phone number will remain the same at 801-417-8240 and our toll free number is also still the same…1-888-259-5380. You can get a hold of us either way. Come visit this unique massage chair showroom. You will love it!

A Massage Chair In Iraq!

I was just having a chit-chat with our Licensed Massage Therapist, Steff, and I was telling her about all of our international sales of massage chairs. As I mentioned in a previous blog post, we do sell a lot of massage chairs overseas.

Well, in the course of our discussion I mentioned a story about a massage we shipped to a client in Iraq. She thought the story was so cool that she thought I should share it with my readers. So, here is the story.

I get an email from an eastern European oil worker living in Kirkuk Iraq. I can’t mention her name because she asked me to never post her identity on the website because she was afraid her mother, back in Europe, would find out her daughter was working in war-torn Iraq! Wouldn’t that be a surprise to a parent?!?

She wanted to purchase a Human Touch Get-A-Way massage chair, which the company has since discontinued, and have us ship it to Iraq for her. I had never shipped to the Mid-East before (even though since then we have sold chairs to Azerbaijan and Jordan) so I was a little leery about a shipment to Iraq. Well, we got her a shipping quote and, upon her approval and payment, we trusted the massage chair to the shipping powers that be.

A couple of weeks later I got a letter from our client with notice that she had received her chair and that she was absolutely loving it. She also sent photos of the convoy vehicle that carried her massage chair from Bagdad to Kirkuk (the chair was flown to Bagdad and then couriered to Kirkuk by SUV). The truck was completely riddled with bullet holes along the side that was showing on the photo! I couldn’t believe it! She said that although the convoy was attacked by terrorists, the chair made it in one piece and they were absolutely loving it.

Quite a massage chair story, eh? Well, here are her words after sitting in the massage chair upon receiving it:

“Hi Alan, look at my new chair!!!! It’s awesome! It makes me so happy! Do You see those smiles on the faces? 🙂 Me and my Best Friend..

One of my colleague already cornered me and said he would like to order one, too, but he would have it shipped to his home address in the US, not to here..I let him check it out and I give him Your e-mail address..

I don’t even know how to thank You, Alan.

I’d like to thank You for all of Your help, Your honesty, Your full support, Your responsiveness, Your kindness,…Your friendship,…everything!

I am very grateful to You.

This chair will make my life so much nicer here in Kirkuk. I hope I can enjoy it for a long time..

Take care and keep in touch.”

A. V. .

Have a great day, wherever in the world you may be right now. And remember, no matter where you live, we can ship a massage chair to you.

Massage Chair Relief Showroom Moving!

Well, it looks like we have outgrown our Massage Chair Relief Retail Outlet. We have been carrying 7 models in our current showroom, which is within the walls of our chiropractic clinic, but now, with the coming of the Inada models this month, we are out of room and are relocating our massage chair store to a different store front.

The good news is that we are relocating to a storefront within the same shopping center where the clinic and previous showroom are located. We will be dedicating about 500 square feet to a massage chair showroom. My good wife, Mona, is in charge of the interior decorating of the new showroom and I can tell you that she has the touch! She will be making the showroom feel like a living room so that visitors can get a feel for how their new massage chair would look and feel in their own living or family room.

We will also be carrying the Perfect Chair model P6 anti-gravity reclining chair by Human Touch, in addition to the 7 current models. This chair is not a massage chair, but is the motivation behind the new HT-7450 anti-gravity massage chair. I mentioned that we will be carrying the Inada massage chairs, but in the showroom we will begin with only the new Sogno massage chair and the model i2a chair.

This will give us 10 chair models available to the public. We will add more models as we go along, giving us, no doubt, the largest massage chair showroom in Utah, if not the rest of the western US (I will find out if there are any other showrooms in the country with as many models to choose from and try out as we have).

We are excited about the new showroom. It is going to be great to have a showroom solely dedicated to massage chairs and not have the chiropractic clinic as part of the display. Now, we can decorate as we see fit for the massage chair alone. We are excited to get this going. The construction, texturing, painting, baseboards, tile work, and carpet laying should be done this week. I will let you know when it is done, with some accompanying photos of the new showroom. I think you are going to love it!

The Sogno Massage Chair…Holy Cow, Now This is Cool!

Dr. Weidner here again. I am just so excited about the new model from Family Inada called the Sogno massage chair. I have seen images of this chair and the first thing that struck me is how amazing and contemporary it looks. It will be released to the US public at the end of April or the first part of May. We have already pre-ordered one for our own showroom. Some of the things I like about it include neck traction, along with regular neck traction, a hip air massage on either side of your seat that undulates in a figure 8 to work the side of your hips, and arm massage air bags hidden within the frame of the chair. It is really quite unique. The US distributor says that this massage chair will blow away all other chairs. I can’t wait to see it!!

Family Inada has been making high quality massage chairs since at least the early 1970’s and has progressively developed new chairs that are industry leaders in design and function. They are created in Japan, whereas most other chairs are manufactured in China, and are usually priced at a higher point than most other chairs. The Sogno will have two models, one for $5999 and one for $6499. The higher priced massage chair will be sold through health care providers and has some additional features over the lower priced model. Once we get all the data on the chair, I will post it on this blog. In the meantime, here is a video that describes more of the features of this unique and amazing chair…

A Good and Bad Massage Chair Story!

Elderly man
Elderly man

Jimmie R. bought an Omega Montage massage chair from us a couple of weeks ago. I just had to share his experience with you because it teaches some really good and bad lessons about massage chair usage.

We set up the chair, left some instructions with Jimmie on how to use the remote control and some of the other features, and then left him to his own “therapeutic designs”.

A week later, I visited with Jimmie and asked him how the new massage chair was working for him. He told me the following…

He had sat on the massage chair for 3 HOURS! Yes, you heard me right…3 straight, solid hours of massage chair therapy, on the first day! He then told me that he was sick for a week. I asked him if he had nausea, a cold, flu, headaches, or what. He said “Yes” to all of those symptoms. So, after sitting on a massage chair for 3 straight hours, he developed all kinds of “flu-like” symptoms that persisted for a week.

I asked him how he was doing now and he said fantastic. He said that his neck and arm pain that he had had for years was all gone. He said he never felt better! Isn’t that something?

So, I figure what happened was that he sat on the massage chair way too long, which unleashed lots of toxins from the muscles into his body (most bodies are not accustomed to massage when they receive it). These toxins have a nasty way of expressing themselves, as in the above list of symptoms suffered by our dear friend Jimmie. Then he felt great because the long and short of it is that massage from massage chairs actually is VERY THERAPEUTIC. Jimmie reaped the benefits of massage, but just in a far more difficult way than he actually had to experience them.

Here are the lessons learned:

1. Do not sit on a massage chair for 3 hours if you are not accustomed to the massage chair therapy. 10 – 20″ is just fine to start.
2. Drink plenty of non-carbonated beverages, i.e. water, after a massage chair session to minimize the toxin pain.
3. Expect to feel better, because your body really appreciates being massaged.
4. If you are sore after your first few massage chair sessions, don’t be discouraged. It is commonplace and you WILL feel better…I promise.

Thanks for the lessons Jimmie and I am sure glad you are loving your new massage chair.

Trigger Points, Massage, and Massage Chairs

Massage session
Massage session

Have you been having bad headaches, pain and numbness in your arms or down your legs? Have you been experiencing sharp pain in your ribs or back when taking in a breath or just changing positions? You could have trigger points in your muscles sitting on nerve pathways causing this pain. Now while trigger points are not always the cause for these symptoms, before looking into surgery and/or taking heavy medication it may be worth it to schedule a massage session with a licensed massage therapist who specializes in deep tissue and trigger point therapy. Once you find out that you, in fact, have trigger points, then regular sessions on your massage chair will serve you greatly. You do not need to go too terribly frequently to a massage therapist if you have a massage chair in your home or business. Regular use of your massage chair has been shown to reduce muscle spasm and trigger points.

What is a trigger point you ask? The simple version is this; they are deposits left behind in a muscle that has sent a message to the brain that it has been injured, whether through repetitive strain or a traumatic injury. Once the brain receives the signal it sends out a distress call and several chemical mediators show up to the site. In the process of repair sometimes little “buildups” are left behind. These are what patients commonly call their “knots.” When a trigger point is sitting on a nerve it can cause localized or referred pain. That is why your headaches may be coming from your neck or shoulder pain could be from one in your back. They can form in any muscle, big or small. Not all trigger points are active there are some that are latent…these are masses that you can feel but they do not cause pain.

The good news is that although they can cause chronic conditions if not rubbed out and a lot of pain, once they are found and “worked” on by a skilled LMT or by your massage chair recliner, the painful symptoms should subside as well. So if you can endure the discomfort of a deep tissue/trigger point session, or if you can stand resting on your massage chair a couple of times a day for a while, you should feel better within a few days. Always remember to drink a lot of water after one of these sessions to flush out what the therapist or massage chiar has broken up and don’t be surprised if you feel a little bit worse before you feel better, but it’s worth it!

Massage Chair Users Who Have Back Pain

I see a lot of patients who come to our showroom looking for a massage chair that will remedy their low back pain. Massage chairs, by the way, are a great therapy for low back pain. Many of my patients who get a massage chair don’t come back to my clinic nearly as often as they did before the invested in a massage chair. Anyways, I have had a lot of experience with low back pain and I am going to give you a couple of very good home exercises that will assist you in alleviating your low back pain.

Our experience with low back pain is that folks that present with it typically have tight hamstrings and hip flexor muscles. These muscles are main movers of the pelvis and, therefore, the low back. Here is one step-by-step exercise for each  of these muscle groups:

1. sit on the floor.
2. straighten out both legs.
3. if stretching the left hamstring, bend the right leg at the know and place the sole of the right foot against the inside of the left thigh.
4. bend forward towards the left knee.
5. hold a sustained stretch for 10-20 seconds without bobbing up and down. You will feel it behind the knee and thigh.
6. repeat twice.
7. repeat for the right hamstring.

1.  kneel down with one foot flat on the floor.
2. make sure the foot that is flat on the floor is ahead of it’s knee (in other words, the angle between leg and thigh should be greater than 90 degrees).
3. if you are stretching the left leg, make sure to hold onto something like a wall or chair with your right hand for balance.
4. reach back with your left hand and grab your left ankle. If your muscle is so tight that you can’t grab your ankle, then grab your foot. If the foot won’t work, then put a finger in the back of your shoe. If that doesn’t work, then grab your pant leg. And, finally, if that doesn’t work, use a small dish towel around your ankle and pull that up.
5. look straight ahead with your chest pointing forward as much as possible.
6. now rock forward on your left knee KEEPING YOUR TORSO ERECT. If you lean forward you will lose the effect of the stretch. Imagine that a string is pulling you toward the wall from your chest.
7. hold this stretched position for 10-20 seconds. Do not bounce. Keep the stretch steady. You will feel it pull at the front of your thigh.
8. repeat twice.
9. repeat on your right leg.

Once I get some video made of these exercises, I will post them on this blog for your instruction.

Exercise combined with your massage chair will be a powerful combination for your better health.

“Will My Flex Account, Medical Insurance, or HSA Account Pay For My Massage Chair?”

Great question! We get asked this all the time. The plain and simple answer is that it depends on the plan! You get to call your insurance plan, your flex account managers, or your HSA account to find out if they will cover a massage chair. We do know that many of the plans do cover the massage chair since it is rated as a medical therapy and not a piece of furniture. So, this simple fact qualifies it for coverage and benefits.

I know at the end of the year, many of you are trying to use up your flex money so that you don’t lose it. Well, wouldn’t a massage chair be a wonderful thing to get and a great way to keep your hard earned money. Of course, you don’t have to wait until the end of the year to use your health benefit dollars. You can order one today. Most of the time you can just use your account credit card and run it as a regular purchase. No fuss, no muss!

But, be sure to check with your administrators to make sure it is a qualified purchase for your plan.

So, You Live In Canada And Want A Massage Chair, Eh?

We get a lot of inquiries from Canada for our massage chairs. Many of you that are in Canada want to know how much it would be to ship a massage chair to Canada. Apparently, the same chairs in Canada are quite a bit more expensive there than they are here in the US. So, many of you contact us wanting to know what the shipping costs would be to see if you can still get the chair for less than what you would pay for it in the Great White North.

Being from Edmonton, Alberta, I am kinda sensitive to the Canadians! Here is a suggestion for you to minimize your shipping expense (especially if you live in a larger metropolitan city in eastern Canada):

Rather than have the chair shipped to your home, which can cost anywhere from $500 – $900, just have the massage chair shipped to a northern US town/city and go across the border yourself to pick it up and bring it back home for you. We offer free shipping on all massage chairs sold in the continental US. So, the only expense you would have with your massage chair purchase, would be the gas of driving down to the US town/city, and the customs/duty expense when bringing the chair into the country.

By the way, make sure you contact customs officials in your country before ordering a chair so that you know what other costs you will have to look forward to. Each country is different but most of them have customs/duty fees associated with imported product. For more information on all of our international orders policies, check out this link:

One of our Canadian clients had his new massage chair shipped to an airport in northern Michigan. He then came across the border, picked up his chair, and, in the process, saved himself about $500 USD. If you live further north, like in Edmonton, where I am from, this strategy might not be as useful, since you have to travel quite a bit further…the time and money commitment is going to have to be weighed against the savings in shipping.

I hope this little blog entry has given my Canadian friends some ideas about saving money buying your new massage chair from Oh, and by the way, after years of disadvantageous dollar exchange for the Canadians, the pendulum has swung in the opposite direction. Now, the exchange favors the Canadians. This assists you even more in the purchase of a new massage chair from the US.

P.S. GO EDMONTON OILERS (try not to finish in last place!!)

Change To Our Massage Chair Financing Plan Periods

We are finding that some of the financing plan time frames are getting too expensive for us. We have made the following changes to the financing plans that we offer from GE Home Source:

1. The maximum length of time for the no payment/no interest plan for a  massage chair purchase is 6 months, rather than the 12 months we had offered until now.

2. The maximum length of time for the no interest/minimum payment plan for a massage chair purchase is 12 months, rather than the 24 months we had offered previous to now.

3. The maximum length of time for the 9.9% fixed rate plan for a massage chair purchase is 24 months rather than 36 months.

The changes aren’t too terribly dramatic, but it does affect those of you that are looking for longer promotional periods to pay off your new massage chair. You see, Massage Chair Relief is charged a percent of the total purchase price when we use a financing plan for your massage chair purchase. The interest rate charged to us is higher as the financing period is higher. So, the rates have gone up to levels where it is counterproductive for us to offer those time frames to our clients. This is why we are only offering the lesser time periods.

The good news is that we still offer awesome financing for our massage chairs….just for less time periods!

By the way, we met so many wonderful people at the Utah Boat Show over the weekend. Thank you for taking time to visit with Steff, Mona, Surgey, and myself. We just thoroughly enjoyed visiting with each of you.

We Are Now Inada Massage Chair Dealers!

We are pleased to announce that we have  become dealers for the Inada Massage Chair family! I am quite excited about this. We used to carry the i2A massage chair model, which was distributed by Human Touch a few years back as the RMS-10 chair, for those of you that remember.

These chairs are Japanese-made and are very nice, quality chairs. They are coming out with a new model in May, called the Sogno, and it is one of the “coolest” chairs I have ever seen. I am so excited to try this one out. We have one ordered already for our show room. We also have ordered an i2A for the showroom. We will be carrying 5 models, in all, on the website, including the following:

Inada HCP i1a
Inada HCP i2A
Inada HCP D5A Robo Chair
Inada HCP D6 Robostic
Inada Sogno

We will soon have product pages up on the site for the models we will be carrying. Now, Inada is quite strict about how their chairs are sold. We are not permitted to sell their massage chairs on the website. Although we will have product pages up on the site and the prices will be listed on the site, the actual purchase will get to be made over the phone or in our showroom. The reason we have not been a dealer for  Inada massage chairs before now is because they will only enroll dealers who have a brick-and-mortar store. Now that we have ours, we are on board. And I couldn’t be happier about it.

Feel free to contact me if you’d like to chit chat about any of these models, or any of our other models.

A Client’s Letter About The HT-1650 Massage Chair

I received a letter the other day from a client who bought an HT-1650 massage chair from our site. Her inquiry addressed a very valid issue for shorter folks on this particular model. I wanted to share her letter and my response to her for your information.

I have a question about a chair that my husband ordered from you. It arrived two days ago and we have had a few days to try it out. We have found some drawbacks to it and wondered if you can help us…. maybe there is a way to make it work.

“I am 5’7” and so am not short, but I find it impossible to sit in the chair for a massage at the same time as my legs are getting a massage because the leg massager does not raise up or down and it is too low for my legs.. Most of the pre-programmed massage programs include the legs so I assume the company meant for you to be able to have a back massage and calf/foot massage at the same time. I can get the leg part to feel like it fits better but if you adjust it even a little bit… then it won’t turn on…. it only turns on when fully extended. This causes further problems because by fully extending it, it puts it to far out from the chair and so the back of my calfs hit against the top of the calf massager. I have bruises on the back of my calves from this. Is this really the way it is supposed to work. Is there supposed to be some adjustment as to placement of the leg/calf massager? The chair is nice… I’m just really surprised that you did not make this adjustable for height and leg length. Can you send me some feedback on this.

Also. we find that if we recline the seat than we lose any lower back massage that there is supposed to be. In order to feel it on our lower back we have to be sitting completely vertical. This is not very relaxing. Any ideas? The only way to possibly get comfortable is to use the optional pillows…but then you can’t feel the massage. I’m wondering what was the design thinking here.

Any help on this would be great. I’m hoping that my chair is malfunctioning and that there is a way to raise and lower the calf/foot massager.

“Hi, Lisa!
Thank you so much for your email. You have touched on the ultimate challenge for all massage chairs…being able to cater to every body morphology in the home! In other words, a chair that fits and works perfectly for one may not work ideally for another. We see it all the time. As a matter of fact, we even know of families that have 2 massage chairs…one for the husband and one for the wife, because of this great reconciliation challenge.

Regarding the HT-1650 massage chair, the ottoman has a very unique construction. It’s very construction is what makes it the best leg and foot massager of any chair we have ever experienced in the industry. But, it also creates the issue of which you speak of in your email. Let me explain…

The foot and calf portions of virtually all other chairs are detached and, therefor, separate. In other words, there is a hinge/joint between the two components. In this way, the ottoman can be fully extended to a horizontal position for tall people. The great problem with this is that the foot never gets the intended “reflexology” massage for which it was intended, because when the ottoman is horizontal the foot massager lies parallel and not perpendicular to the calf massager. The user, who wants a calf AND foot massage, now only gets a calf and ankle massage…and it is not very comfortable, quite painful to the ankle by most folks accounts. In order for the user to get a calf AND foot massage, the ottoman has to be at about 45 degrees from horizontal (the highest position of the HT-1650, as you know). Then, when the user fully reclines, with the ottoman at this approximate 45 degree position, the same problem exists that you are talking about with your HT-1650. I will also tell you that the massage on the foot and calf, even in this position, on other chairs, can’t even touch the massage of the HT-1650.

What Human Touch has done to provide the most luxurious and wonderful foot AND calf massage, is make the ottoman one, fixed component. This way, the massage is fantastic, but the ottoman will only go to about 45 degrees. But, to offset this, when the chair is fully reclined, as you mentioned in your letter, the ottoman tends to “lock” the calf and foot in that position and it can “pull” on the low back. Now, to be honest, that is one of the features that some folks absolutely love about the ottoman and full recline….it provides a low back stretch that is very therapeutic, especially for low back pain sufferers. But, for some it is uncomfortable (refer to my opening sentence of this email, regarding the “ultimate challenge” of every massage chair).

Now, this is what we recommend for the HT-1650: For FULL recline, if you struggle with discomfort, just bring the ottoman out to the point where it is horizontal on the ground before it starts to incline to the 45 degree angle. Fully recline the chair and just rest your feet on the ottoman, without putting our whole calf and foot in the ottoman. This will afford you the opportunity to shuffle your back right up against the chair back, take out the pillows, and enjoy an absolutely luxurious massage. When you want to focus on the foot and calf, and you are not comfortable with the ottoman incline and the full recline of the chair back, just incline the chair back to a position of comfort and enjoy. You have probably found that it is only a few degrees of difference to go from discomfort to comfort.

Another thing that might assist you in the use of this chair…the ottoman rotates so that when it is out and you would rather have the back massage without the leg massage, you can just rest your legs on the back of the ottoman massager and position yourself where ever you wish on the chair. There is a little lever on the right hand side of the extended ottoman (when you are sitting on it). Just pull it and rotate the ottoman massager around and then you will have a flat surface whereupon you can lay your legs while your back is being massaged!

I hope this assists you in more optimally using your new chair. It is my personal favorite (I am 5’9″ and I totally get what you are saying about the full recline/ottoman issue). You have chosen our most popular massage chair, BY FAR. It is the finest looking and it has the greatest therapeutic benefit, particularly for the foot and calf. Once you are accustomed to using it for your body type, you will grow to love it like I do.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

A Great Massage Chair Story!

Sometimes we hear some pretty cool things about how our massage chairs have benefited a massage chair user. Here is a pretty neat story…

We had a visitor to our store who suffers from diabetes. He was only in his mid-30’s, but had already suffered for the majority of his life with numbness and burning in both of his legs. He also said that his legs had always felt very “heavy”.

Well, he came to try out our massage chairs and ended up enjoying the Omega Montage, which boasts a pretty good leg and foot massage, along with an MP3 player for you listening enjoyment. After he got up from the chair, following a 30 minute session, he immediately noticed that his legs felt lighter and, best of all, the burning and numb feelings were gone!! WOW! I love hearing stories like that. It just reinforces what we already know…that massage chairs have tremendous therapeutic value for everyone. Even with conditions where you wouldn’t think it could be of benefit for you, you just may be surprised by the results. And if you don’t have any physical ailment, you will definitely feel a decrease in stress after your session.

By the way, if you live in Utah, you are welcome to drop by our showroom anytime for as many times as you’d like to try out our massage chairs. You don’t have to buy one to enjoy it. You can drop by the showroom and just enjoy.

What Exactly Is White Glove Service?

I am seeing an increasing number of our patrons ordering the White Glove Service (WGS) with their new massage chair, not only on our website but also from our retail outlet. Most folks are not completely familiar with what the WGS is, so I figured I’d take a moment and explain exactly what WGS is.

When you order the WGS, you are essentially ordering a completely hassle-free service where your chair is not only delivered to your home or business, but the packaging is removed too. Now, you may not think that removing the packaging materials is a big deal, but you’d be amazed at how much cardboard, plastic, and styrofoam it takes to package a massage chair! It is quite a bit. As a matter of fact, the packaging from two new massage chairs completely fills our delivery cargo van (by the way, our massage chair delivery van has been come to be known amongst the staff as the “massage chair mobile”).

For some folks, it would be very difficult to put the packaging away in their garbage cans as it would take more than at least two of the large garbage bins to dispose of it all! The WGS takes all that packaging material and disposes of it.

Tip: some folks like to keep their massage chair packaging in their garage or basements in case they return the massage chair or resell it and want to have the same packaging available to them for shipment.

So, this is what you can expect when you order WGS with your new massage chair:
1. delivery of your new massage chair to your home,
2. assembly of your new massage chair in your home,
3. placement of your new massage chair where ever in your home you want it situated, and
4. removal of all packaging material from your home (unless you want to keep it and store in at your home for future use…my kids like to build “forts” from the huge cardboard boxes!).

When you order new massage chair and WGS from us locally, here in the Salt Lake Valley, we also walk you through how to use your new massage chair and remote control when we deliver it to you. We have that added service available, as part of the WGS, so that you can begin using your chair immediately upon receiving it without having to sift through the owner’s manual.

The cost for the WGS is $199.99. We feel it is money well spent. Not just for the chair assembly which, by the way, is really quite easy to do on your own, but for the moving of the chair around your home to where you want it placed and for the packaging material removal. Most, if not all, of our massage chairs are heavy enough that it could take two of you to move it around the house or business, especially when trying to lift it our of the box. Some of the massage chairs, like the Omega and Sanyo chairs, to name a few, have wheels on the back of the chair which allow for easy maneuverability of your new massage chair once it is unpacked.

To order WGS with your massage chair is very simple…you don’t have to do anything!! It is, by default, included in your shopping cart whenever you add a massage chair to the cart. If you DON’T want WGS, then you just have to remove it from the shopping cart, but clicking on the “x” next to the service and it will be removed from your cart. It’s that easy!

Dr. Alan Weidner

P.S. the WGS is included in the free shipping of the HT-1650 massage chair and, now, the HT-7450 massage chair.

“Why Do I Hurt After My First Time On A Massage Chair?”

I hear this a lot. Many folks say that they hurt after their first session on a massage chair. You know, the long and short of it is your body is not used to the therapy…it is not used to having something good like a massage chair massage done to it. I see this all the time in our clinic: a patient comes in for treatment for low back pain and, after a spinal manipulation and a brief spot massage from our massage therapist, they are sore for the next day or so.

Remember how you felt after the shoveling snow after the first snowfall? Or how you felt after working in the yard for the first time in the spring? Or how you felt after going back to playing basketball or golf or bowling, when you hadn’t done it in quite some time? That is the same idea.

You are getting muscles involved by the massage chair that you aren’t used to having worked over. They have been asleep for a while. Nobody likes to get woken up from a comfortable sleep! Your muscles and joints are no different. They are used to same old postural position day after day and now you want to break up the party by massaging and mobilizing them. They are rebelling!! Plain and simple.

So, don’t worry if you have some soreness after a massage chair session. It may even hurt for the first 2-4 sessions, bu eventually your spine is going to get it and snap into shape. You will begin to feel better very soon. You may even notice some great benefits in the rest of your body, even though your muscles might be sore at first. For example, you might feel taller, more limber, or that you can breathe deeper, or that you are sleeping better.

As  my kids say, “It’s all good, Dad.” Hey, “it’s all good” for your spine, too. Just don’t give up on your chair…it will be easier with each passing day. You are going to love your new massage chair. I guarantee it! If you have some other symptoms, besides just some sore muscles, you can always go to your doctor and get a check-up to make sure everything is up to snuff in the rest of your body. You will most likely know the difference between sore muscles and other “stuff”…you know your body.

Arm Massage on a Massage Chair? Who’s Got That?

I rarely get asked this question, but some folks like to know which chairs, if any, have an arm massage feature on them. Well, here is what we have and what else is out there.

The Omega Montage massage chair comes with an additional feature if you want to order it…an arm massage device feature. They are large clamp-like gadgets that come off the arm rest into which you place your arms. They kinda look like large, metal blood pressure cuffs that fit on your forearm! It costs $200 extra for the feature, but some folks want that.

The other chairs that we carry that have this feature are the Panasonic 3222 and 30003. But it is also an additional feature for both these chairs. For example, if you want to get the arm massage feature on the Panasonic 30003 massage chair, you get to order the Panasonic 30004 massage chair. If you want the arm massage feature on the Panasonic 3222, then you order the Panasonic 3513. Brookstone used to carry the Panasonic 3513 but has since abandoned that model for their own OSIM chairs. Although we don’t have the Panasonic 3513 or 30004 models on our website, because they are not terribly popular chairs, we can get them for you. Just call us or email me and we can arrange it for you if you are interested in either one.

The HT-1650 massage chair has an arm vibration feature, but it is not a full massage like these other chairs. I wouldn’t consider it arm massage, but it at least is something for the neglected arms (neglected because all our massage chairs cater to eveything except arms!).

A Cool Feature for a Massage Chair

I was playing around with the Omega Montage massage chair today and had a blast with the MP3 feature. You see, this massage chair comes with a flash drive that already has some MP3 formatted songs downloaded. You just plug the drive into the back of the chair and then put on the headphones that come with the chair and you are listening to your music whilst enjoying your soothing massage. These are full sized headphones, too, not those little light weight ear plug-headphones.

The fun part comes when you push a button on the remote that synchronizes your massage with the music you have playing!! Isn’t that crazy? Yes, it is true that this may not have any therapeutic effect, but it was pretty cool in my estimation. You can adjust the volume and track number of your music from the main remote.

By the way, the main massage chair remote has what I like to call a “mini-me” remote attached to it. It runs on it’s own battery and you can take the mini-remote off the main remote and hold it in your hands while you are in the fully reclined position. You see, you can adjust the massage chair function without having to get upright to press the main remote. The small “mini-me” remote can run everything from your reclined position.  Very clever and practical. Oh, and it has a wrist strap on it so you don’t lose it while getting massaged in the reclined position.

We have the brown Montage in our office and it is a very beautiful color. I strongly recommend it. I also like the calf and foot massage on the Montage, second only to the king of calf and foot massagers…that of the HT-1650.

Our HT-7450 Massage Chair Has Arrived!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season so far. I am not a big fan of Christmas music at Halloween, but once Thanksgiving hits, I am into it all the way!

Well, our HT-7450 anti-gravity massage chair finally came into the showroom yesterday and I must say that, so far, I am quite impressed with it. The first thing I noticed about it was how small the box was. I am accustomed to bigger boxes, especially when they weigh a lot (the HT-7450 weighs about 230 lbs.). But, this box was relatively small. When we opened it up, I could see why. The back is shipped NOT attached to the bottom of the chair…it lays on top of the chair bottom. We found it to be quite easy to assemble; a couple of big screws and three wires hooked together and we were done. White glove service does come with this chair…it is included in the free shipping!

The second thing I noticed about it was how firm the seat and the back were. Because of that firmness, I was expecting a more “rough” massage than the rest of the chairs. Well, to my delight, the massage was wonderful.

With the anti-gravity feature, the chair seat reclines along with the chair back (you see, most other chairs have the seat remain stationary whilst the ottoman and the back move). I could actually feel the pressure on my back lessen as the seat tilted back. The ottoman raises to a horizontal position.

The remote is very easy to use, as are all Human Touch remote controls. It is a good blend between the HT-7120 and the HT-1650 remotes. Lots of features, but very easy to use and follow. One of our showroom visitors once mentioned the fact that they didn’t like the remotes that were sticking up on the pedestals attached to the side of the massage chair. They liked the Human Touch chairs because the remotes were stored in a side pocket and could not be seen when one happens upon the chair. Never thought about that, but an interesting point to consider when looking at massage chairs.

When I got up off the chair, I noticed that I felt quite a bit taller and straighter and I was only on the chair for about 5 minutes! It felt great. I wonder if that is a “side effect” of the massage or the anti-gravity incline. Either way, I felt great when I got off the chair.

This chair also has butt and thigh massage along with the adjustable-width calf massager. It does not have an extra foot massage attachment like the Panasonic, Sanyo, and Omega chairs.

Nice chair…it has already received some critical acclaim about it’s anti-gravity feature.

Massage Chair Relief Featured in “The Enterprise” Business Magazine!

Debbi Olson, a reporter for a local, respected business magazine called The Enterprise, did a story on our new Massage Chair Relief showroom, which appeared in the periodical today. Here is the link to the story:

According to their home page, “The Enterprise is designed to deliver breaking, topical business news to the Utah business community, which has grown to encompass businesses from Ogden to Provo and from Summit to Tooele counties. For more than three decades, we have covered all sectors of that community — finance, construction, real estate, marketing, energy, transportation, manufacturing, wholesale/retail trade and communications, among others, as well as government and court action affecting business, labor union activity and bankruptcies. As such, news in The Enterprise cannot be found anywhere else. ”

Ms. Olson came by the office and got spoiled rotten on the HT-1650 massage chair, my personal favorite massage chair. She took some pictures and we chatted for quite some time while she had her back, neck, and legs massaged. She is quite a delightful and kind lady. We had a great visit.

I particularly appreciate the mention in her article of our association with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Utah. I have a special place in my heart for that organization. In 2005 we did a fund-raiser for a Make-A-Wish child named Alexis, through our chiropractic clinic. We raised just under $3500 for this beautiful girl, who suffers from cerebral palsy with severe complications, and were able to be a part of her granted wish, which was a trip to Disneyworld. She came back from Florida a completely different child. Where she never smiled or showed physical affection before, now she smiles all the time and hugs everyone that passes by. Her mom brought her to my office after her granted wish and told us the whole story. She is an absolute doll. I experienced such joy knowing we were a part of that transformation, albeit in a small way.

Well, since then I decided that I would include the Make-A-Wish Foundation in my massage chair business. That is, in a nutshell, why we are donating dollars from each showroom chair sale to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Utah. By the way, if you have a local chapter of the foundation in your town, go to their offices and see how the wish is submitted and granted. It is a very emotional and beautiful experience. You can’t help but be touched by it.

Have a happy holiday!

Really Pushing It For A Massage Chair Before Christmas!

It is Tuesday, December 18th and I am still getting frantic emails and calls from folks looking for a massage chair for Christmas. We are frantically trying to get chairs out to you by plane or truck by this Friday. It is getting to the point where you will get to pay a few more dollars to get your chair by Friday/Saturday.

I am such a procrastinator myself and I totally get why folks are scrambling at the 11th hour. We are doing everything in our power to get these chairs to you by Christmas. For those of you still shopping, don’t lose hope! Call us at 1-888-259-5380 and we will do everything we can to get your chair to you by the end of this week. Don’t give up! Call us. Although you may end up paying a premium for last minute delivery, you can still get your chair. But, with each passing hour, your window of opportunity closes even more.

If you want white glove service, I will have to say that the window has pretty much closed. But, for a price, I guess anything is possible…so, again, don’t give up. You never know until you call us and we call the manufacturer and get a definite “Yea” or “Nay” on what you are looking for.

Right now we are working on getting an HT-7120 from California to New Hampshire! You would be hard pressed to find two more distant points on the US map, but we are going to make it happen! Their will be a shipping cost to the customer (normal shipping is free, as you probably know from reading elsewhere on our site), but we are going to get that massage chair to him by Friday. So, again, don’t give up hope. If you are committed to getting a massage chair, especially from us, and you have clear intention on getting it, we will do all in our power to get it to you.

Happy Holidays!

Christmas Massage Chair Shopping Deadlines

Since we are getting close to Christmas and since a lot of us put shopping off until the last minute, I figured it would serve you all to know how far along you can order before it will be too late to get your massage chair for Christmas.

Human Touch tells me that this Wednesday, December 12th, is the last day for ordering chairs with White Glove Service (WGS). It includes the HT-1650 and the HT-7450 which has the WGS as part of the purchase price. Other chairs cannot be guaranteed for Christmas if not ordered before the end of this week. You may still get your Human Touch massage chair before Christmas if you order after this Friday, but it will be a bit of a “crapshoot” depending on the distance your chair gets to be shipped from California( which is where the Human Touch chairs are shipped from).

Panasonic, Sanyo, and Omega massage chairs can be ordered as late as next Monday, December 17th and most likely arrive to your home or business before Christmas. Again, anything after that is a gamble.

Hope this helps in some way!

Our First Visitors To The Showroom!!

Hundreds of our patients use our massage chairs every month, but on Friday night we had our first “non-patient” visitors to the Massage Chair Relief Retail Outlet. It was wonderful!! Tom and Debby Tedeschi contacted me through our website after reading entries on this very blog about our new store/showroom. They had been shopping at every store they could find that carried massage chairs in an effort to find the one they liked.

Their journey had taken them to Brookstone and their OSIM massage chairs, Relax-The-Back, and ultimately us. It was fantastic to have an outside, non-patient visitor to our showroom so that we could see how our set-up worked for not only a new-comer, but also for us as staff. It was also good to actually interact about the massage chairs with a “live” person, other than over the phone on our toll-free number, which is all we have done over the last 2.5 years since our site went online.

It was just wonderful having Tom and Debby at our place. They are great people and we ended up visiting for quite some time. They had great feedback for me about our new showroom and things related. For example, they said that our 6:00 p.m. closing hour was a little early for them and that 7:00 p.m. would have worked better with their work schedules. What great feedback! So, as the word gets out about our store, and as more and more folks find their way to us, we seriously get to reconsider our hours.

They also mentioned that they loved our selection of massage chairs from so many different manufacturers, plus the fact that we had 6 (soon to be 8!) massage chairs on display. They had not seen so great a selection in any of the stores they had visited prior to ours. By the way, in case you hadn’t noticed, we actually carry 15 models on our website.

They also enjoyed the fact that we did not pressure or “hover” over them while they were checking out the chairs. We were there when they needed us and gave them the freedom to experiment with the chairs at their own pace. I am not a salesman, nor will any of my staff ever be “salespeople”. I personally don’t like to be pressured our “hounded” when I walk into a store. I like having someone readily there as a resource when I need them, but I don’t want to feel any pressure. This is certainly the type of atmosphere I want to create in our store(s). Mission accomplished!

One thing that I think is invaluable in our arrangement is that a Chiropractor and a Licensed Massage Therapist are available to answer any physiological and/or anatomical questions about the benefits of the massage chairs. We truly are experts in back pain relief and our feedback, I feel, will be beneficial to our clients in the massage chair decision-,making process. Afterall, our patients use these chairs all day long. We certainly do get a feeling for what folks like and don’t like and what they need and don’t need.

Well, Debby and Tom may add their own comments to this blog over the next few days to share more about their experience. Oh, and by the way, they purchased a Panasonic 30003 massage chair before they left! They were down to the Panasonic and the Omega Montage. Debby liked the former, Tom the latter. Well, we all know who won! Hey, Tom, maybe you should get an Omega for the office! Now, we get to donate $50.00 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Utah for the Tedeschi’s purchase. We also invite Tom and Debby to write a review about their new massage chair when it is shipped to them this week.

OPEN HOUSE UPDATE: Our new outdoor sign went up on Friday, as did our new front window posters. The same folks that did our van “wrap” also did our window dressing. It looks great! My wife did a little interior decorating inside on Thursday and it looks so much homier already. She has a great feel for that kind of thing. If the decorating was up to me, it would probably look like a sterile hospital room! Our open house is this Monday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. and there will be food and drink to cater to the masses! We will even have some gluten-free food for those that are intolerant (of wheat that is!). Remember, our address is 2232 W. 5400 S. in Taylorsville, Utah.

We appreciate all of our patrons so very much. We are especially grateful to the Tedeschi Family for trusting us enough to come in and create a relationship with us. Enjoy your new massage chair!

The new HT-7120 is here!

Human Touch has come out with a new massage chair that I absolutely adore! The new HT-7120 massage chair is like a glorified HT-125/135/136 model. It is a bulkier, richer looking chair than the other models I just mentioned. On top of that, it has a few features that the older models don’t have.Human Touch HT-7120 massage chair

1. Massage intensity adjustment. I have seen a few of my patients sit on my HT-125 and ask if we can make the massage less intense. The only way we could make the massage less intense was by putting the “dampening” pillow under the patient’s back (it comes with the HT-125/135/136) or by reclining the massage chair at a lesser angle. Now, the HT-7120 has a massage intensity adjustment which allows the chair to cater to all sorts of pain tolerances.

2. Dual lumbar heaters. I have always wanted to have heating pads on the backs of my patients when they are on the massage chairs. Now, we have it…built in!

3. Adjustable calf massager. Of all the features that massage chair has, the calf massager is probably the most controversial. I say controversial because folks either love it or hate it. The adjustable width now opens up the possibility of the calf massager assisting more folks because the level of comfort can be adjusted. The adjustment is right on the ottoman so you can just lean forward and push the “+” or “-” button to make it wider or narrower, respectively. A great feature!

There you have it. The HT-7120 is a great chair. It comes in a black or beautiful dark chocolate color. The dark chocolate color looks kinda like a deep red color. I love that color. This chair also comes with a 3 year warranty. You can check out the chair here:

If you have this chair or have had any experience with this chair, or if you have any questions, feel free to add your comment to this blog.

I will discuss the anti-gravity HT-7450 chair next time.
