Panasonic Massage Chair Warranty Overseas

I wrote a blog post about our policies on international massage chair orders. I actually spoke to Panasonic this week about a chair sale to Canada. I was told that even Panasonic and Sanyo do not honor their warranties when the chairs leave US soil. I was surprised somewhat by that, as they are international companies with a presence in virtually every market. I was told that the massage chair would have to be brought back to the US to have warranty work done on it.

If the chair goes to another country, and there is a problem with the chair, the local “service centers” can still work on the chair, but it will not be covered by the warranty. This is good information to know if you are contemplating an overseas purchase.

Massage chairs are designed to last many, many years…far more years than the warranties last. But, should something go wrong with it during the warranty period, it would sure be nice to know that it is covered.

Hope this helps!

Some Info About The Omega Skyline and Serenity

We have learned some things about the Omega Serenity (and Skyline) massage chair since we have had the Serenity in our showroom. I thought it would be good to tell you about these things before you buy one of them. It is hard to find these chairs out there, but they serve a wonderful niche in the massage chair market…a zero gravity chair in the low $2000 range.

1. Very handsome and stylish chairs

2. Rollers stay in one place in the lumbar and lower thoracic region. The rollers are not on a track. They are restricted to the lower back area. Air bags in the upper thoracic (rib cage) and neck massage those areas.

3. The ottoman does not come up independent of the reclining chair back. On most massage chairs, you can elevate the ottoman independent of whether the chair back reclines or not. In these chairs, the chair back and ottoman move simultaneously.

These are some things I think you should know about these new models from Omega.

International Massage Chair Orders

Shipping logo
Shipping logo

There are certain times when we get more overseas buyers inquiring about massage chairs than others, and now is one of those times. We can go for literally months without an international massage chair inquiry and then all of a sudden have 3-4 a week. I have decided, and this is only observation, that when the US dollar is weak and the international dollars are stronger, the US massage chairs are a better bargain for our international customers.
So, given that now is a popular massage chair shopping season for our international clients, I thought I would review our policy for sales outside of the USA.

1. Generally speaking, warranties on chairs sold in the US are not valid overseas.

2. Inada’s warranty will cover chair sales to Canada and Mexico, in addition to USA. Also, if you buy an Inada massage chair that is shipped overseas, the warranty will pay for parts, but not shipping and you will be responsible for the labor on the chair in your country.

3. Panasonic and Sanyo are international companies and have a presence in most countries. You will probably have a better chance of getting warranty coverage overseas for a Panasonic or Sanyo massage chair (even though it may be a “crapshoot”, depending on where you live).

4. We do not offer refunds on international chair sales.

5. The buyer is responsible for shipping costs. We do give some breaks on some chairs, in lieu of the free shipping that we offer on domestic US sales.

6. Generally speaking, free shipping does not apply to Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico (call us to be sure, depending on the model of chair you get).

7. No online ordering for international orders, unless you are having the chair shipped to a US destination where you will take care of shipping from there to your country.

8. We need your shipping city and zip/postal code in order to get you a shipping quote.

9. We can get you freight quotes for sea and air shipping.

10. Wire transfer is the preferred payment method for international orders. In some rare cases, we will accept a credit card.

11. Bonus gifts and 90 day money back guarantees do not apply to international orders.

12. You will be responsible for customs and duty taxes, if applicable.

13. We use 110 V electrical outlets in North America. Many foreign countries have 220 V outlets. You will need a step-up/step-down transformer in that case. We can provide you with a heavy duty transformer which runs $195.

Well, that should just about do it. Please feel free to call us at our showroom if you live overseas and are interested in a massage chair from Massage Chair Relief. Our number is 1-801-417-8240.  Here is the link to our policy page on our website regarding international orders:

Looking forward to hear from you!

Acutouch 9500 Massage Chair Arrival!

Acutouch 9500 massage chair
Acutouch 9500 massage chair

We got word that the Acutouch 9500 massage chair by Human Touch should be arriving the first two weeks of October. We are excited about this. Our website will have a product page up this week for you to pre-order. Our price will be $4799,

based on minimum advertised pricing (MAP) established for us by Human Touch. I recommend ordering this thing ASAP even though they are not in stock yet, or else all the chairs will be spoken for and shipped by the time you order. I have experienced this back-order game on new products before. Trust me…if you are expecting to get this massage chair when it first arrives in the USA, pre-order now to make sure you get a stake in that first shipment.

Once we get one in the showroom, we will test it thoroughly and give you a full review of the Acutouch 9500.

The Heat Feature of the Inada Sogno Dreamwave

I got this email from a customer earlier this week and thought it was important enough to share with you, regarding the heating feature of the Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair:

“I thought you may be interested in learning something about the Sogno. I recently purchased one and absolutely love it. However, I did not think the heater was working, so I called Inada. They said they get this kind of call often, but the heater is probably working as they’ve only had one ever in the world actually not work. They said there is no heater in the back. The only heater is a small square section in the back of the seat the feels like it is in the low back. He said you don’t really feel it much because a) it’s not all that hot, and b) the massage gets your blood flow going and body head up, so you don’t really notice. He said to put a pillow or blanket on the seat of the chair, turn on the heat, check it in about 10 minutes and see if it has warmed up the pillow or blanket. I did and can now confirm that the heat does work. I think you do a great job with your site and share a lot of good info, so wanted to share this with you.”

We learn something from our clients every day, it seems. Thanks, Dave, for this tidbit of info for other Inada Sogno shoppers!

New Panasonic MA51 Massage Chair

I learned a little about the new massage chair from Panasonic, called the EP-MA51. Here are some of my observations and thoughts about it. I haven’t sat on it or even seen it in person, but from my review of the literature out there, I have some things to say:

1. The body styling looks a lot like the Panasonic 1285 massage chair. The only markedly obvious difference would be the arm rests having the familiar Panasonic arm massage feature, which is a “flapping” arm rest that comes down on the fingers, wrist and forearms to facilitate an airbag massage on the arms.

2. Panasonic touts a pelvic tilt and trunk rotation feature which seems pretty cool. Inada introduced that idea a couple of years ago with it’s Inada Sogno and Doctor’s Choice 3A massage chairs. The idea is for the seat airbags to rotate the hips so that the lower back joints are rotated instead of just pushed forward by the rollers. I love that feature on the Inada chairs, so I suspect it will be a lovely feature on the Panasonic MA51 model.

3. They’ve added a feature called a “Leg Stretch” which looks to me like a basic stretch program, which most massage chair manufacturers now employ on at least one of their models. Stretching is a nice feature in a massage chair. I particularly like the stretch function on the Human Touch HT-7120 family of massage chairs. My clients sure love it too.

4. Seems quite pricey at $5499. Of course, when Panasonic came out with it’s highly anticipated 30007 a couple of years ago, it ‘s initial price was $5999. And as you may or may not have read in an earlier post of mine on this blog, Panasonic’s dismal pricing integrity model allowed the price of the 30007 to drift, rather quickly, down to the $4000 range. Pricing and value tend to drop with Panasonic chairs. I suspect this chair will be no different. I suspect that competing retailers will gouge the price down to below $4000 before long….if the 30007 history (or any Panasonic massage chair for that matter) is any indicator.

When you compare this chair to the Inada Sogno or Doctor’s Choice massage chair, or the new Human Touch Acutouch 9500 massage chair, you’ll probably intuitively assess that the MA51 is over-priced at $5499.

5. I called my Panasonic distributor today but he was not aware of whether this chair is even on the market yet. I await his response. I will tell you more when I hear more. I will also notify you when we have placed this chair on our site.

Here is a link to a video that explains the chair visually:

One of my competitors has a neat comparison chart that will show you the differences (and similarities) between this chair and the 30007 and 1285 which are also Panasonic chairs or any other chair you wish to compare. Here is a link to their site:

Well, hope this helps you in some way, if you are considering this chair for your home or business. We will be posting it on my website shortly.

More Acutouch 9500 Massage Chair by Human Touch Info

I have learned that the new Acutouch 9500 massage chair from Human Touch will be shipping to the US during the first two weeks of October, 2010. It has been a long time in coming and is a very much anticipated massage chair. I have read countless articles and press releases about it. I will be very eager to get one in my showroom and begin getting a sense of the public response. My guess is that it will be a hit with our customers, as was the HT-1650, it’s predecessor. It was a very popular massage chair in our showroom while we had it.

Here is somemore data for the Human Touch Acutouch 9500 massage chair:

1. The ottoman raises 6 inches off the ground. The HT-1650 stayed on the ground keeping the calfs at a 45 degree angle. It was quite comfortable but made it difficult for shorter people to sit in the chair and get a good back massage at the same time as getting a good foot and calf massage. Good change!

2. It will come in the black and espresso colors. Espresso is a dark brown color, which is quite popular on the Human Touch product line. I have an HT-7120 massage chair in my showroom in that color and I can tell you it is a very handsome color.

3. The MSRP on the chair is $5999, but it’s minimum advertised price (MAP) will be $4799. This means that you should be able to get this chair for $4799. Human Touch is very, very good at maintaining pricing integrity of their chairs. If $4799 is the MAP, that is what you will find it for…not any less.

Hope this helps build your excitement for this chair. I know we are fired up about having one in our showroom.

Inada Sogno Massage Chair Video-The Headpiece

Inada calls their headpiece on the Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair a cervical traction device. Maybe a little too technical or medical for most of us, but just a fancy name for a headpiece. But, this headpiece does some pretty interesting stuff which differentiate it from other massage chairs. First of all, it has airbags that massage your neck like fingers and airbags that push down on the shoulders, i.e. the trapezia muscles. This is where the “traction” title comes from…the airbags push down on your shoulders thus tractioning your neck, while it is being massaged by those airbags.

But, if you like the old-fashioned roller massage on the neck, the headpiece can be lifted out of the way and the neck can be then massaged by the underlying rollers. I love the trapezius massage. It is very unique to this model and feels great on tight shoulder muscles. Check it out here on this video we created discussing this feature in more detail…

Our Massage Chair Relief 110% Low Price Match

We get a lot of questions about our 110% low price match massage chair policy so I figured I’d take this blog post to explain it to you. If you find a competitor carrying one of the same chairs that we carry, for a lesser price, we will not only match the price of the competitor, but beat it by 10% of the difference between their price and ours. Now this is where some folks get confused. We do not take off 10% of the price of the competitors chair. We take the price of the competitors chair and subtract that amount from our price. We then take 10% of that difference and subtract that from the price of the competitor’s chair. That is the price for you.

For example, let’s say we have a chair priced at $4999. Now, let’s say you find another site on the internet that sells the exact same massage chair for $4299. The difference in price is $700. 10% of that amount is $70. We would then take that amount off the price of the competitor’s chair, which would bring the $4299 chair down to $4229. Does that make sense? I hope so. If it doesn’t give us a call and we can explain it over the phone.

There are a few rules with our 110% low price match:

1. The online store must have the identical massage chair priced accurately at the time you submit your request.
2. Our Low Price Guarantee does not apply to out-of-stock, previously owned/used, special order, or e-Bay items.
3. All price matches must be submitted prior to ordering.
4. Our Low Price Guarantee takes into account the cost of the competitor’s chair AND their shipping & handling costs AND any applicable sales tax that may apply. What this means is that if you are looking at getting a chair from a local store in your state, obviously you are going to have to pay sales tax. When we consider the total price of the competitor chair, we take into account that sales tax amount and subtract the total competitor price (including the sales tax, of course) from our price and take 10% off from that difference. The same applies to shipping or handling costs that a store may charge for the chair (online or offline store).
5. No close-outs, misprints, special buys, special promotions, or liquidations.
6. Applicable to continental US shipments in US Dollars only.
7. Visa Gift Cards do not qualify for 110% low price match purchases. In other words, once a final price is figured out, the Visa Gift Card offer will not apply to the price-matched chair.
8. Price matches are good for a 1 week period. If you return to purchase your new massage chair from beyond 1 week from the time we did the initial price match, pricing of our competitor will have to be confirmed again and a new price match offered.

Well, I hope that makes sense. It is a wonderful program and we use it all the time. Call us if you have a price that you want us to beat or if you just have more questions about our 110% low price match. Our number is 888-259-5380. Or you can call our showroom at 801-651-2026.

New Inada Sogno Massage Chair Color

We just received notice of a new color for the Inada Sogno massage chair model. Dark brown has been added to the repertoire of colors for this popular massage chair. The inventory is apparently quite light for this color, but it is in stock and

Inada Sogno - new dark brown color

I should have the option up on our website within 24 hours. It is a more “traditional” brown, without the reddish tinge that the current chocolate brown color has.

More Info on the Acutouch 9500 Massage Chair by Human Touch

I saw a short review video from this week on the Acutouch 9500 massage chair by Human Touch. I have talked about this new model from Human Touch a few times on this blog. So far we know that:

1.) it’s MSRP will be $5999
2.) the 9500 will be an upgraded model of the popular HT-1650 massage chair by Human Touch, which has since been discontinued preparatory to the release of the Acutouch 9500.
3.) the 9500 will be released some time in the fall of 2010, perhaps as early as September.
4.) the chair look is like the HT-1650, but with a different stitching on the leather upholstery.
5.) the ottoman is supposed to lift off the floor, unlike the HT-1650, which sits on the floor in full position.

Well, I have included the video from for your perusal. It goes over the iPad/iTouch/iPhone interactivity with the chair, called HT-Connectivity. It has standard programs, but has also added programs designed specifically by certain professionals who have had input on the programs available through the HT-connectivity feature. I really like the feature where the user can pick three areas of focus and emphasis and the chair will work on those three areas, specifically.

Here is another video, this one created by Human Touch, which shows how to use the iPhone to control the massage:

Very cool! I will like this chair. We, at Massage Chair Relief, already loved the HT-1650 so we can’t wait for the Acutouch 9500 to hit the market.

Hhhhmmm, I wonder what percent of the population have iPhones/iTouch/iPads?

Insurance Paying for Massage Chair?

denied person
denied person

If there is one question we get more than any other in this business, it’s whether insurance will cover the cost of a massage chair purchase. I have no certain answer for you. As a matter of fact, in the 7 years I have been selling massage chairs, I have only heard of two where a third party paid for the chair and both instances had to do with disability/handicap situations where the chair was paid for by certain governmental departments that were paying for rehab of some sort.

If anyone out there has had their health insurance pay for a massage chair, please let us know about it. Feel free to call me at our showroom at 801-417-8240 and share your experience with me. We’d love to share your success with other clients who ask about the possibility of having their health insurance traders insurance cover all or some of the massage chair purchase.

Perhaps there is some code that the insurance companies accept for massage chair sales; perhaps you have purchased the chair and then submitted the bill to your insurance company and received reimbursement for your expense; perhaps a doctor prescribed a massage chair to you and the insurance company then paid for the chair for you.

Whatever your story, we’d like to hear about it for the sake of all our readers.

Thanks for your input.

Utah Jazz Mascot Visits Massage Chair Relief!!

Steffanie and I are just minding our own business doing work at the Massage Chair Relief showroom when we hear the doorbell go off, notifying us that someone is in our showroom. Before we could even get up and see who it was, Bear, the Utah Jazz mascot runs in through our back office door and surprises the dickens out of us. Naturally, we were excited. But, as soon as we realized who was in our showroom, we immediately asked if we could take some pictures of him in our massage chairs. He didn’t say anything (duh, no mascot says anything!), so we escorted him to our chairs and took these photos:

It was a lot of fun when Bear was here. After he got up from the massage chairs, I could tell he wanted to ask questions and talk, but he was true to his no-talk mandate. I’m sure he’ll be back as a civilian someday to ask those questions he couldn’t ask yesterday.

Go Jazz!

New Inada Sogno Massage Chair Video

I just realized that it’s been a couple of weeks since my last blog entry. You are probably chomping at the bit for more massage chair info, aren’t you! 🙂 Well, nothing too terribly exciting to report. We are still waiting on the new Acutouch 9500 massage chair by Human Touch; Inada will be introducing a new color for the Sogno in a few weeks; we will finally be getting one of the new Omega zero gravity massage chairs in our showroom, now that we have sold the Montage floor model.

I also have another video to share with you of the Inada Sogno massage chair. We get asked all the time if we will make videos of other chairs. YES, we will. I am just too dang busy or lazy to get them done. But, we will be doing them later this summer on other models.

This video introduces the headpiece function of the Inada Sogno, which is very unique. It is the only chair that has a headpiece like this. Check it out…

Human Touch HT-1650 massage chair officially done!

I just got word this morning that Human Touch is now out of the stock on the HT-1650 massage chair and no more will be made! That is it…the end of the life cycle of one of our most popular chairs. Of course, we can all now wait for the Acutouch 9500 massage chair, which is a sister to the HT-1650, but with some improvements. Rumor has it that it will be out in September for the general public. I am excited to see this new chair. Features that I’ve heard, which differentiate this chair from the HT-1650 include the ottoman being able to be lifted off the ground, remote programming from an iphone, different stitching of the leather upholstery, and a higher price point.

A tip for the Sanyo 7700 massage chair

I had a couple come into the showroom on Friday last week and they taught me something about the Sanyo 7700 massage chair that I had never heard before. This would apply to the 7700 and the Sanyo 8700 massage chair too. It has to do with the sensor that comes with these chairs. As you may or may not know, you can put your hand on the sensor and the chair will read your pulse rate, perspiration, and temperature as part of the scan feature of the chair. Most chairs have a scanning feature of some sort so that the chair can figure out where your spine needs the most attention. The scan typically involves the rollers going up and down your spine to determine areas of tightness and to assess the shape and size of your spine.

Well, Sanyo also added a sensor that checks the aforementioned pulse rate, perspiration, and temperature while the rollers are assessing your body type. And, on the new Sanyo 8700 massage chair, there is also a “stress” sensor built in. Don’t ask me how it works…I have no idea (sounds cool though, eh?)

Now, here is the tip: if the sensor is having difficulty getting a read on your body, put some lotion on your hand and the sensor will be able to read your skin better. The gal who came to our showroom was not getting a good read on her hand (maybe it was too dry or something like that), so she asked for some lotion to put on her hands, as she had been coached by someone else to do that when she tried out the Sanyo 7700 in another store in Nashville. Well, I know I had a deer in the headlights look on my face, because she said she wasn’t kidding and that it really worked. So, I got her the lotion and, sure enough, she got an immediate reading.

Another Inada Sogno massage chair video

Omega M-2 Orion Massage Chair Redesign

I received a notice from Omega Massage Chairs, whose products we sell on our website and in our showroom, describing to us the design changes to the popular and very affordable M-2 massage chair. Here is what is up with the new design:

Omega M-2 Massage Chair

1. Flat style leg rest with 4 calf and foot rollers. No more calf wells….massage is within the ottoman, but not through the traditional calf wells.
2. Redesigned back pain for added comfort and style.
3. Arched cervical pillow for improved head support.

Great chair for the money. Omega came out with the new Skyline and Serenity zero gravity massage chairs, which also employ the same flat style calf and foot leg rest/ottoman. I don’t know how effective this massage will be compared to the calf well ottoman. I suspect that it will be much less intense, but I have heard through the grapevine that this flat style actually does a fairly vigorous job massaging the calves.

The price remains the same, by the way ($1299).

King Kong Massage Chairs No More!

I got a call from a fellow who is reselling the remaining stock of King Kong massage chairs. I knew that King Kong had lost a law suit last year to Human Touch and I wondered at the time if it would affect their business model.

In that post I close by saying, “Who knows what will happen now. I have heard rumors that American Lighting Industry Inc may sell off or shut down the King Kong massage chair division…Don’t know, but time will tell…”

Well, I don’t know if that was the cause of it, but King Kong chairs are no longer being manufactured and sold. Only existing stock is available. How that affects warranty and customer service, I have no idea. But, I figured you’d want to know about this if you are considering a King Kong massage chair purchase.

GE Offering Massage Chair Financing Summer Specials

GE notified us this week that they are offering a 12 month minimum payment/deferred interest to us to offer to our clients. With the recent changes in the financial industry thanks to the new credit card act, we could only offer 6 months min. payment/deferred (or no) interest programs. Well, between June 1 – 21 and July 1 – 11, 2010, we can offer the 12 month program when you finance your new massage chair from

Now, it is important to know that these “zero interest” plans are actually “deferred interest” plans and, if you don’t pay off the principle amount before the end of the 6 or 12 month period, accrued interest will hit you in one lump sum at the end of the 6 or 12 month period. So, buyer beware.

All you need to do when applying for financing, is print out the form on our website,, and fax it or email it into us. We can have you approved within 10 minutes. Pretty simple stuff.

Hope this helps you in your massage chair shopping experience.

Acutouch 9500 massage chair – a little more info!

Acutouch 9500 Massage Chair
Acutouch 9500 Massage Chair

I just read a review today of the new Acutouch 9500 massage chair from Human Touch. You can read the review here:

Acutouch 9500 Massage Chair

Nothing new about the technology that we haven’t already discussed. But, for the first time I see a price for this bad boy. According to the author of this piece, the chair will retail for $5999. Quite a jump from the $3999 for the sister chair, and predecessor, the HT-1650 massage chair. I am very interested to see this chair in comparison to the HT-1650.

The author also mentions that it will be a “few months” before the chair is available to the public. My sources tell me September now. I have also learned that the ottoman on the Acutouch 9500 will actually raise off the ground to facilitate a more horizontal positioning. As you may or may not know, the foot and calf ottoman on the HT-1650, which we have always felt is the best foot and calf massage in the business, always rested on the ground at a 45 degree angle because, as we were told, it was too heavy to raise off the ground. Well, the new 9500 will actually raise off the ground. I think this is a good thing.

Dr. Alan Weidner

Now the HT-1650 massage chair is being discontinued

Dr. Weidner asleep on massage chair

I just heard this week that Human Touch plans to discontinue the popular HT-1650 massage chair once their stock of black models is gone. They figure another week or two and the chairs will be gone. Apparently, Huma

n Touch will replace the HT-1650 with the new Acutouch 9500 which won’t be out until summertime. I’ve not heard of anyone who has actually sat on the Acutouch 9500 massage chair, but I have heard that it looks a lot like the HT-1650. I was told by Human Touch yesterday that the ottoman will raise off the ground, which the ottoman did not do with the HT-1650. It is also supposed to be higher priced than the HT-1650.

Human Touch has told us that the new 9500 will not be sold through the usual distribution channels; it will be sold exclusively through one of their large chain retailers. Not sure who, but maybe Costco or someone like that. Hopefully we at Massage Chair Relief will be able to sell it as the HT-1650 was one of our most popular massage chairs.

You’d think that since my office is in back of the Massage Chair Relief showroom, I would be sitting on massage chairs all day long. Well, think again! I rarely sit on them because I am so busy at my desk. But, the other day I went onto one of the chairs, to do some work reading. I fell asleep and later, after I had woken up, I found a picture of me sleeping on the massage chair on my cell phone. Thanks, Steffanie! Dang, they feel so good but, man…I look like a corpse!

Sanyo 6700 Massage Chair Discontinued!

I just found out today that the Sanyo 6700 zero gravity massage chair has been discontinued. Although we never carried it, they also discontinued the Sanyo 3700 massage chair. The only chairs to pick from now, from Sanyo, are the Sanyo 7700 and the new Sanyo 8700. Both great chairs. Both zero gravity massage chair recliners.

Remember that all of the Sanyo chairs only come in black color. The Sanyo 7700 massage chair goes for $4999 and the Sanyo 8700 massage chair goes for $5999. Also remember that we have a 110% low price match guarantee should you find either chair for less.

The Sanyo chairs also come with a 1 year comprehensive/3 year limited warranty. Good warranty…not the best…but a good warranty.

Call us if you have any questions about any of the models. The Sanyo 6700 will be coming down off our website as soon as I finish this blog post.

Massage Chairs in the Mall! Yuck!

You see it, an oasis in a sea of skin care stands and faux hair pieces…a coin-operated massage chair!  You have been walking around the mall for hours, your back hurts, your feet hurt, and frankly you just want to sit for a minute.  Visions of massage rollers working, kneading, percussing your muscles start dancing in your head!  You have to wipe the drool from your mouth as you anticipate the relaxation you are about to receive…or so you think.  After you frantically flatten that wrinkled dollar bill in your pocket and submit it into the pay slot, you sit back in blissful anticipation!

The rude awakening comes when some very aggressive and not very comfortable balls start clumsily digging at your back.  It feels as if it is searching for your spleen or some other organ that lays deep, deep within.  The tears that come to your eyes are not the tears of joy that you had been hoping for.  Or perhaps you have the experience of such a light massage that it could have been butterfly wings gently and daintily fleeting this way and that across your back.  Either way, it’s a big disappointment! Nothing can be adjusted…you got what you paid for.

The massage chairs sold at Massage Chair Relief are very different than those you may have experienced in the mall.  Please don’t judge all massage chairs by the coin-op chairs in the mall or airport. Real massage chairs are so much more.

They have highly sophisticated roller mechanisms and scanning features so that these chairs “learn” your body and are truly able to create the exact massage chair experience that you have been looking for. The experience is really quite dreamy. And, if one chair doesn’t do it for you, we have over 25 models to pick from and try out. We have the largest selection of massage chairs under one roof so you can have one as basic as you want or one that will work the full body and cook you breakfast after!

So, next time you go to reach for that wrinkled dollar bill in your pocket when you’re at the mall, go home and put it in a jar to save up for a REAL therapeutic massage chair!

Just In…Dark Chocolate (Cognac) HT-1650 Discontinued!

I just got a call from Human Touch and they tell me that the last of the Dark Chocolate (Cognac) HT-1650 massage chairs have been shipped. They are not making any more of this chair in this color. The Black is still available, so the chair can still be purchased, but in black only. Also, I have been told that the new 9500 Human Touch massage chair will not be out until the summer time. I know there is a lot of chatter about this chair on the internet, but for now it is an unknown commodity. No one that I know at Human Touch has actually sat on one yet. It looks like an HT-1650 and it’s colors will probably be black and espresso, but other than that no one really knows much about it. Of course it has iphone app capabilities for programming it. Looking forward to checking it out.

Massage Chairs Back-Ordered…And A Warning

There seems to be a lot of the popular massage chairs back ordered right now. I figured it might help some of you who are buying to know which models are back ordered right now and when you can expect to see them back in stock at the manufacturer’s warehouses. So, here is the scoop:

Panasonic 30007 massage chair
Just heard today that this chair, which has already been on back order for over a month, should arrive between May 12-16. We get calls on this chair all the time and it is very frustrating that the inventory management is so poor that we have to go for 2 months before a chair model is available.

Human Touch HT-1650 massage chair
This chair is a very popular model and the dark chocolate (cognac) color is back ordered until this week. I was told two days ago that the shipment should be in “any day now”. So, we expect to see this chair early next week at our showroom. We sold our floor model and have a list of folks who are waiting for it come in so that they can sit on it and try it out.

Inada Sogno massage chair
This chair is on back-order based on color. According to an email I received yesterday from Inada USA President, Cliff Levin, the chocolate is back-ordered until June 1st; the creme color is back-ordered until May 17th; the bright red color is back-ordered until May 10.

I should warn everyone who reads this post that if you want one of these models DO NOT wait until those dates to order your new chair!! The demand is high and if you wait until then, you may not get them because the folks who have already ordered will be in the queue to get a chair from those shipments long before you get your order in on those dates. Does that make sense? So, bottom line is that if you want one of these chairs, ORDER NOW and don’t wait until the dates I just gave you, cause you just might be too late.

Feel free to call us anytime if you have any questions or to place your order. We are always at your disposal.

Massage Chairs Help Relieve Stress!

You might be thinking, “Duh…of course massage chairs relieve stress”, especially those of you who own one already. Folks get massage chairs for different reasons, most of which have to do with back and neck pain, but it may surprise you to know that a massage chair can also help with some other health issues as well. From our experience, here are some other benefits of massage chair “therapy”:

1. increased arm and leg blood and lymph circulation

2. improved posture

3. easier deep breathing

4. increase flexibility/range of motion

5. general sense of well-being

6. better night’s sleep

7. some folks notice a change in neurological sensation in the legs and feet (this was quite an extraordinary and unexpected benefit that we began to see two years ago when we used to display our chairs at the home shows here in Utah. It surprised us, to say the least!)

8. immune system boost

9. and, of course, stress relief.

I got a tweet from Human Touch, one of our manufacturers, last week which talked about an article on stress benefits of massage. Stress, particularly evident in our fast-paced western culture, can lead to many health conditions, i.e. heart problems, unhealthy coping behaviors like overeating and inactivity, headaches, muscle tightness/spasm, sleeplessness, etc. etc.

So, the long and short of it all is massage, in the form of a massage chair, can help you battle the stress of human living each and every day within the walls of your own home.

Sogno Massage Chair For Your Pedicure!

Inada just recently announced the production of a new and modified Sogno massage chair, made specifically for the manicure/pedicure industry. I have had many clients tell us that they sat on a massage chair whilst getting a pedicure and

Inada Sogno Spa massage chair
Inada Sogno Spa Massage Chair

that it felt fantastic. As a matter of fact, many of our clients were introduced to the concept of  massage chair through their nail technician. Of course, many of the chairs are cheap and not too feature-rich, but Inada has now come out with a model for that industry. It looks just like the typical Sogno massage chair but without the traditional ottoman. In lieu of the ottoman, is the place for the feet and the technician to go. From a marketing perspective, I think it is a great little niche for Inada to zero in on. I’m not exactly sure, but I don’t believe the other major manufacturers cater to that industry at all.

Speaking of catering to industries, I have always thought that the massage chair companies should come out with potentially interlocking massage chairs for home theaters. These two industries are natural fits but not much creativity has gone into this type of chair from the major massage chair manufacturers. Just a thought…

Which Massage Chair is Most Intense?

We get this question ALOT at our showroom and over the phone when folks inquire about a massage chair.

I want to start by saying intensity is very subjective.  A chair that I may feel is very intense, another person may not feel is intense enough.  So, what I will share with you in this blog post is what my experience has been and the feedback that I have gotten from many customers.

Panasonic massage chairs have been known to offer a bit more of an aggressive massage overall compared to others.  They have Junetsu rollers that really get into the musculature and can be quite intense.  However, saying that, I have put some people on that chair fearing that it will overpower them and they have loved it, so again, who is to say!

Human Touch massage chairs are much the same way. I, personally, think that they are quite intense, generally speaking, but some folks who claim to be very delicate, sit in a Human Touch chair and find it “just right.”It is so hard to say. A lot of the nicer chairs have an intensity adjustment, just in case the chair is too intense for one person in the family or too light for another family member.

The other point that I would like to bring up about intensity is that the chair will be perceived to be more intense if it happens to roll over or work some areas on a person’s back that is already very tight, in spasm, or have trigger points throughout.  These are conditions that are most likely already firing pain signals but then with the added pressure from the massage seem to bring more awareness to the person.  This doesn’t necessarily mean that that chair in particular is not right for you; it just means that the chair is actually working out the areas that deserved to be worked the most, to decrease that sensitivity.    Hope this helps when it comes to deciding what chair is best for you!

2 Week Old Inada Sogno Massage Chair Available NOW

I just received an Inada Sogno massage chair (in slate color) in exchange for another chair, from a client. It is only 2 weeks old and is in pristine condition. I have it in the back of my showroom, boxed and ready to ship. It has a 3 year full comprehensive on-site warranty with it. These exchanged or returned Inada Sognos are few and far between. If you want it, call us right away before someone else grabs it. You can call me personally at 801-651-2026 or call the showroom at 801-417-8240. Needless to say, the Sogno is our best selling massage chair. I can’t give you the price in this blog, but I can say that you would save over $1000 below the retail price. I knew that would get your attention! So, if you are interested, give me a call.

Aren’t We The Popular Ones!!

We just received another phone call from a massage chair owner who purchased his massage chair from another online website store. We get these calls all the time and you’d be surprised to know that they call us for customer support. Why, you ask? Because they can’t get a response from the online store they bought the chair from. They said that they had no trouble getting support when they wanted to buy the chair, but were having a “dickens of a time” (is there such a phrase!?!?) getting a hold of someone at their online store of choice when they had an after-purchase problem or wanted to get some help with the chair they purchased.

We get these calls all the time…and I am not exaggerating! Steffanie handles most of the website and showroom calls and she gets calls like this almost weekly. We find ourselves explaining things about the massage chair to the client that they didn’t know and couldn’t find answers to. We find ourselves referring clients to the manufacturers for warranty help. We find ourselves getting calls like this all the time. Now…don’t be me wrong. I don’t mind! But it concerns me, and it should concern you, the prospective massage chair buyer, that customer support AFTER the sale is often so weak.

We have certainly taken this lesson to heart and do what we can to reassure you that you are making a good decision when you buy from We will even give you our personal cell numbers at the time of the sale so that you can always get a hold of someone should you have a concern. We want you to have complete peace of mind when you spend this much money on an online product. I know a lot of folks are hesitant, at best, buying a product of this high a price online. Many of you have heard horror stories of online fraud and rip-offs. Well, I have personally been ripped off online, and the taste of those experiences linger in my mouth and gut for a long time. So we, as a company, are bound and determined to make sure that your buying experience is phenomenal. And, should you ever bump into a problem we will take care of it ASAP.

Feel free to call me or Steffanie, my showroom manager, if you have any questions or inquiries. My personal cell number is 801-651-2026. Steffanie’s is 801-680-4229. We are always at your disposal.

Hey…I Know That Guy!…Plus new Sogno massage chair video

I see our friend and Inada USA President, Cliff Levin, is in the news again, this time promoting the new Inada Cube massage chair. Check out this article in the New York Times:

I love the picture of Cliff standing next to a “stack” of Inada Cube’s. I don’t think I’d ever imagine a stack of any massage chairs prior to the introduction of the Cube. I have the Cube in my showroom and it actually has quite a remarkably strong and firm massage in the legs and even in the butt and low back. This thing actually looks like a cooler. You can fold it up and pull it on the wheels. Very cool!

I also have put up a couple of new Inada Sogno massage chair videos on the website. One is the calf and foot massage feature and the other highlights the full arm massage feature.

I hope you enjoy the videos. You can check out all the videos for this massage chair at Just click on the “Video” tab.

New Inada Massage Chair Prices In Effect

This last week, as promised, Inada raised it’s prices on the Inada Sogno massage chair and the i2A massage chair. The prices have gone up to $6799 and $3799, respectively. We have not seen that much change in Sogno interest since the price increase, so I would have to say, at this point, that the price increase has not had an immediate dramatic effect on the popularity of the chair.

Unfortunately, the slate and creme colors are still back-ordered, but not by much. If you purchase today, your chair would be here at the end of the month or the first week in March. Comparing this waiting time to the HT-7450 massage chair (black) by Human Touch, which is back-ordered until the end of March/beginning of April, the wait for a Sogno is not bad at all.

Remember, that we have also added the bright red Inada Sogno color and the genuine leather Sogno. These options have been out there before, but only recently have they become available to all Inada dealers. The bright red Sogno has been on the TV show “30 Rock” in Tracy Morgan’s office.

Well, if you have any questions about the new pricing or would just love to talk to us, please feel free to contact our showroom at 801-417-8240 and Steff, Mona, Melissa, or myself would be happy to visit with you.

New Inada Sogno Massage Chair Video

We published another in our series of 9 videos about the Inada Sogno massage chair. This one is about the full arm massage feature of this chair. It is up on for your enjoyment:

Inada Sogno Massage Chair – Full Arm Massage

In this video, I go over the arm massage function of this unique massage chair. It is the only chair that I am aware of which has a full airbag arm massage. Arm, forearm, and hand/wrist are all covered by the airbags. Intensity of the massage can be adjusted, as can all airbag functions on this chair, to Low, Medium, and High.

We recommend taking off wristwatches and large rings or bracelets when using the arm massage, to prevent excessive pressure on those accessories…which will push them into your skin! Just a little tip!

Follow Up To My Panasonic Experience

I wrote a blog post a couple of weeks ago that talked about my experience with Panasonic after one of my clients experienced some trouble with a damaged Panasonic 30007 massage chair delivery ( ).  I am happy to announce that Panasonic has stepped up to the plate and offered to pay for delivery of a new chair and pick up of the damaged massage chair.  I don’t know if my blog post or the letters from  my client made any difference, but I am just happy that my client has a chair that is working for them now!

On another Panasonic note…I just heard yesterday that Panasonic is raising the price of their 30007 model by $450. I have been told by inside sources that the reason for the price increase is NOT because of an increase in the cost of production, but because Panasonic does not like it’s retailers/dealers selling the chair for so low. Remember in that same blog post I wrote a week ago what I thought about the lack of integrity in Panasonic’s terrible pricing policies (or lack thereof)? Well, who knew that this would be their answer!!

So, rather than police their retailers to maintain price and product integrity, Panasonic decides to raise it’s price by almost $500 to get retailers to charge more for the massage chair. Oh my…it’s a wonder that so many retailers, including myself,  put up with this for their clients and for themselves.  I have no idea if the price of the their other models will go up as well, but I am sure I will find on Monday morning price increases across the board.

For  now, I will keep my 30007 price at $3999 to see how things work out. But, I will also tell you, for sure, that I will not be doing any low price matches on Monday until the new pricing has filtered through to all the retailers. As it was, I was doing price matches that left me with such a minimal profit margin, that if the credit card that was used by the buyer was an American Express  card (which charges me 3.5% on a purchase) and if shipping was to the furthest corner of the country away from California (which is where the chairs ship from) I came extremely close to losing money on the transaction (in one or two situations, I actually DID lose money).

But I asked for that now, didn’t I, with my 110% low price match guarantee. So, I have to sleep in the same bed I make.

Well, there you have it folks. On Monday morning, the Inada massage chairs AND the Panasonic chairs are all going up in price. “Just another manic Monday…”! It will be so interesting to see how you, the consumer, reacts to all of this. By the way, if you are planning to beat the price woes, you had better give us a call this weekend to place your order. Call 888-259-5380 or call Steffanie, my showroom manager, at 801-680-4229.

Massage Chair Warranties on International Orders

We sell a lot of massage chairs overseas and into Canada and Central/South America. And I often get the same question for each international inquiry: “Is the warranty any good in my country?” I want to address this a bit today. For all massage chair manufacturers the warranty is only good for US orders. Once the massage chair leaves US soil, the warranty is considered void.

Inada is the only exception to this. If someone in Canada buys an Inada massage chair from a US retailer (such as the warranty is good in the Great White North. But, not anywhere else.

Having said all this, it is important to know the following:

Although the warranties are void, most companies, particularly Sanyo, Panasonic, and Inada, have an international presence. They have resources available for you to get parts and service for your massage chair should you ever need them.  So, if you are an international customer and you purchase a massage chair from us, you can still get support overseas even if the warranty is not applicable.  Feel free to call me if you have any concerns of questions about this subject. We have had a lot of experience in international massage chair sales and can give you a lot of great input.

New Acutouch 9500 Massage Chair & iPhone App from Human Touch

I’d like to thank Steffanie, my commercial sales manager, for writing this little review and giving us her input on this new AcuTouch massage chair and iPhone app from Human Touch:

AcuTouch 9500 massage chair

Human Touch has a new technology- minded massage chair in the works to come out in May. It is called the AcuTouch 9500 massage chair.  It is able to be used with your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad.  It has an app that you can download for free to personalize and customize your massage experience while using this chair.

I, myself, have not joined the iPhone bandwagon so this doesn’t mean a whole to me except, does this mean that MY massage in this chair will not be as good since I don’t have an iPhone?  However, if you do have an iPhone this app sounds pretty cool.  You can use it to customize what massage auto programs you want it to perform and you also have access to lots of health advice and tips for utilizing your chair to the best of its abilities.  Besides that, it will “save” the programs that you have done in your phone so that you can go back and see what program it was that you really enjoyed.

The AcuTouch 9500 has the same look and feel of the ever popular HT-1650 massage chair.  This has been a top seller for us and gives the best lower leg and foot massage of any chair in the market.  It has a very regal and classy look to the upholstery and can pass for a regular recliner.

Keep in mind that information on this chair has still been limited so take this blog post for what it’s worth!
Thanks, Steffanie. I like the idea of having info on the cell phone about the chair and the benefits of massage that I can access while I am sitting on the chair. I’m not sure, though, if the iPhone app is going to be that great of a deal for prospective buyers. Can the remote control be used just like with the other Human Touch massage chairs? I will be very curious to see how you, the shopper, respond to this chair when it hits the market in May. Any feedback would be appreciated from you. We will be carrying the chair if it will be available to us in May. We don’t even know what the price will be until closer to May. I’ll keep you posted.

Panasonic Comes Out With New Massage Sofa

Panasonic MS40 massage chair sofa
Panasonic MS40 massage chair sofa

I just read a press release from Panasonic that talks about a new massage sofa that is suppose to be a great sofa, the EP-MS40, which is being introduced to the US market. It is a cute little thing, looking like a piece of furniture as opposed to the traditional massage chair. The

Human Touch HT-1650 massage chair has always been a fan favorite at our showroom because it looks more like a regular recliner than it does a massage chairs. Omega came out recently with their new Skyline and Serenity zero gravity massage chairs, which are also designed to look like a regular chair…getting away from the traditional massage chair look, too.

Here is the image of the MS40 for your perusal. I don’t know if we will be carrying this model, especially with my concerns about Panasonic’s customer service and price integrity (see blog post ). But, I like the aesthetics of the chair (oops…I mean sofa). The only thing that concerns me with the improved aesthetics is the compromise of features to accommodate the appearance. Maybe it won’t just be another “pretty face” but a real therapeutic, feature-rich massage chair, too. I’ll have to try it out to be sure. If anyone has already tried this baby out, let me know what you thought.

Here are some of the specs: it will come in avocado green and latte colors, the airbag massage ottoman retracts underneath the chair seat (ala HT-1650), washable polyester upholstery (may be prone to getting dirtier than the regular leather or faux leather), 26 inch track, 4 pre-set programs and 2 manual programs, price tag of $2499.

Oh, by the way, I saw the coolest thing I think I have ever seen in the massage chair genre the other day. My next blog post will talk about that, along with a picture. It will blow you away.

New Videos For Inada Sogno Massage Chair Education

Steffanie and I have created 9 videos here in our showroom to go over every aspect of the Inada  Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair. We get calls all day long about the chair, from prospective clients and clients alike. Some want to know about the chair before they buy it and some of our clients don’t get everything about the chair once they have it set up in their home or business.

So, we figured we’d put together some “training videos”, if you will, that will take folks through every aspect of this amazing chair from top to bottom. So far, we have published 3 of them and will put out a new every 2 weeks. They are on our website on the Sogno product page, but I will put them up here on this blog entry for easy access right now. You can always call us at 888-259-5380 if you have any further questions about the chair or if you didn’t get something I was trying to explain on the video. If you have any other questions that I didn’t answer we can maybe create another short video for your convenience and for others who may have the same questions.

By the way, I posted a video about the assembly of the Sogno massage chair on the product page too, for those of you who want to assemble your own chair and save money on the white glove delivery. Here are the videos:

Changes at Panasonic…Thank Goodness!! (I hope)

I just saw a press release announcing a new head of the Home and  Health Company at Panasonic. This division of Panasonic includes the massage chair division. A fellow named Dan Silver is moving up from the Home Appliances Group to head the Home and Health Company.–health-company-as-president-82784402.html

You may ask why I say “Thank Goodness” and why I say “I hope!”. Well here are my reasons:

1. Panasonic is notorious for pricing their “new” models high and then letting retailers butcher the pricing to where their is little to no profit margin. Why is this a concern? Let me explain…

When we carry a new model for Panasonic, we are told that we have to charge the Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) or else we can’t carry the model. So, we price it accordingly. For example, when the new Panasonic 30007 massage chair came out we were told that we had to charge $5999 for this massage chair. Obediently, we charged that amount (Panasonic still charges that amount on their website). Well, before long I get calls from folks around the country telling me that they can get the 30007 on another website for $5499…then, a little later, $4999…then, $4499, then $3999, etc. As a matter of fact, now you can get this $5999 massage chair for about $3300 – 3400!! It is laughable. It cheapens the image of the chair, it makes retailers who are obediently charging the MAP look like money-grubbing idiots, and it builds distrust in the mind of the consumer. They wonder, “What is wrong with this chair that it keeps dropping in price?”. I just tell them that Panasonic is terrible at price-integrity and, eventually, they will discontinue such-and-such model, and come out with some new super-duper chair that will be priced high and then butchered again. I have seen this happen already to the Panasonic 30003 and 30004, which were just introduced 2 years ago! They are already discontinued. Unbelievable. It won’t be long before the 30007, the top of the line Panasonic massage chair, is discontinued. Then I will get the same old questions, like “What is wrong with this chair?”, “Will I be able to get parts for this model now that it is discontinued?”, etc.

Needless to say, I have dropped my price and I STILL honor our 110% low price match on even these low priced chairs (I have actually LOST money on some of these price matches!). Inada and Human Touch have had many of their models around for years and their prices remain consistent. Hhhhmmmm…I wonder if there is a correlation between price integrity and longevity of a product in the market.

2. I had a very disturbing experience with a customer of mine, named Lou. Lou is a wonderful client who was great to work with every step of the way. Well, she ordered a Panasonic 30007. It was delivered on time, as promised. When she opened up her box and pulled out her new massage chair (which was a Christmas gift, by the way), she noticed that it was warped when she first sat on it. It didn’t sit level on her floor. The box it was delivered in was in perfect condition…no holes, no dented sides, no sign of abuse by the shippers. When she called Panasonic customer support they told her it was not their problem. She called me about this issue. I called my Panasonic rep. He provided two companies in her state who dealt with Panasonic warranty work. Lou called them both…only one would help her. They came out and, after working on the chair for awhile, determined that it could not be fixed. She would have to call Panasonic back.

So, Lou called Panasonic back and they said that there was nothing they could do about it. After some complaining and pleading, Panasonic agreed to replace her chair but that SHE had to ship it back…at her expense or at my expense!! Neither of us could believe it. Again, I called my Panasonic rep and told him what Panasonic was suggesting. He said he was aware of this situation and, when I said that it was ludicrous that myself or the client should be held responsible for the return shipping, he simply said, and these are his words, “They (Panasonic) just don’t care!” Unbelievable. Here is a chair that my customer ordered from me, that I ordered through Panasonic, and that Panasonic delivered. Yet, with a structural problem that neither of us had anything to do with, Panasonic would not replace their chair with a new one AT THEIR EXPENSE. Every single other massage chair manufacturer who I represent on my website would have changed out that chair in an instant, without a murmur of complaint or resistance. That is why I carry their chairs…because I love their customer service. This incident of customer service by Panasonic was atrocious. I shudder to think how many other innocent customers have gone through a similar experience.By the way, Lou is now thinking about exchanging her Panasonic for an Inada or Human Touch massage chair.

Don’t get me wrong…I love the chairs; I just can’t stand for customer service like this.

I sure “hope” Mr. Dan Silver can make a change for the better for his retailers and his product consumers!

Inada Sogno Massage Chairs in very low supply until February 2010!

Red Inada Sogno massage chair
Red Inada Sogno massage chair

The demand for the Inada Sogno massage chair has been so great that Inada USA has been caught with low stock of the creme and slate colors. We were just notified that these colors are out of stock until mid-February. And the

stock that is coming is quite limited, from what I am told.
Remember, also, that the price of the Inada Sogno is being raised by Inada USA to $6799 on February 15, 2010.

What this means to you is…
1. If you are thinking of ordering a Sogno massage chair, and you like the creme or slate color, ORDER NOW so that you will have first “dibs” on the new chairs when they come in AND before the price increase.

2. With the price going up on February 15, 2010, if you wait until the chairs come in you will have to pay the higher prices. So, ORDER NOW to get the chairs at the current price of $6499.

3. Inada has made their bright red Sogno and the genuine leather Sogno available to our customers, previously exclusive to Relax the Back. We also still have the chocolate color in stock. So, Sogno’s are still available right now. T

he red Sogno is at the same price as the slate, creme, and chocolate. However, the genuine leather Sogno is priced higher at $8999.

So, Inada feels terrible about the stock issues, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that chairs are scarce right now. When they do come, they will go to those folks who have already ordered…”first come, first served”. What I am basically saying is, if you want to get this chair before the price increase and not be too low on the back-order totem pole, call me right now to get your order in.

Call me if you have any questions or if you are ready to place your order, at 801-651-2026.

By the way, here is the link to the Inada Sogno if you want to know what all the hub-bub is about (it really is a very popular chair).

“Why Aren’t Inada Massage Chairs In Your Special Report?”

Lately, I ‘ve been asked the same question a couple of times about my special massage chair report that you can download on my site. I will include one version of the question below, along with my answer. Hope this answers this question for the rest of you who are wondering…

I would like to ask The Dr. for an explanation as to why Dr. Alan Weidner did not include the Inada Brand in his article Titled:

5 Things You Absolutely Must Know Before You Even Consider Investing In A High-Quality, Robotic Massage Chair ?

What’s the reputation of the brand? Beware of strange sounding or “rare” brands. Yes, it’s possible that a little-known brand has a high-quality product, but with an investment like a massage chair you want to be safe, not sorry. In my experience, I’ve found Human Touch, Panasonic, Sanyo and Omega to offer high-quality chairs backed by great warranties.

I am a potential Buyer of an Inada I2A but I am now concerned and confused after reading this article!

Hi, Tim
Thank you for your thoughtful inquiry and comment. Actually, we began carrying the Inada massage chairs after I wrote the report. To be totally  honest, I completely forgot to update the report! It truly needs to be updated and we are currently working on a rewrite for the express purpose of adding Inada massage chairs and adding a few more things to think about when purchasing a chair.

Let me tell you a little about Inada:
1. They are the oldest massage chair company in the world. Mr. Inada made the first massage chair back in 1962!

2. Every feature which we all take for granted in massage chairs, i.e. 4 rollers instead of 2, vibration, automatic programs, air bags, etc. , were all pioneered by Inada.

3. Inada massage chairs have been private labeled for years. In other words, they have been making quality massage chairs for so long for other companies. It has only been recently that they have “come out of their shell”, so to speak, and sold chairs under their own label. But, they have been one of the top massage chair manufacturers in the world for decades…a lot of us just didn’t know it!

4. Most massage chairs are manufactured in China…Inada chairs are all made in Japan.

5. The Inada Sogno massage chair, introduced at CES in Las Vegas in February 2008, is the most technologically rich massage chair in the industry and, by far, our top seller. I, as a chiropractor, absolutely love this chair. The cervical traction unit and dreamwave technology are incredible innovations (and therapies) that have taken the massage chair world by storm.

6. Inada just came out with another trend-setting chair last month. It is called the Doctor’s Choice 3A massage chair. You can check it out here:

7. Inada has the best factory warranty in the biz….3 year comprehensive, on-site warranty. They just introduced that last November. And should you ever need warranty work from them, you reach the head technician for the company in North America, Ken Kojima, directly when you call. Top notch customer service.

I hope this answers your inquiry. I appreciate the great question. It just motivates me to make sure that we get the report updated ASAP.

You need to know, also, that the Inada Sogno and i2A massage chairs are going up in price on February 15. The i2A is going up to, I believe, $3999 and the Sogno up to $6799. So, if you are interested in either of these chairs from Inada, act fast!

If you have any further questions or inquiries, please email me back or call me at 801-651-2026. I am always at your disposal.

Inada Sogno Creme Colored Massage Chairs Out of Stock!

Inada Sogno massage chair (red)
Inada Sogno massage chair (red)

I just received an email from Inada stating that the creme color of the Inada Sogno massage chair is out of stock, due to huge demand for this chair. They will be getting a new shipment in February 9, 2010 but even then the inventory of this

color will be slim until March. Chocolate and Slate colors are in stock for sure. I’d like to also let you know that we can now offer the bright red color Inada Sogno model, which was featured on “30 Rock” television show. Tracy Morgan uses it in his office. It is a very contemporary and sharp color but not for the conservative decorator that’s for sure! We will have that color on the website product page later this week, but you can order it right away by calling us at 888-259-5380. I’ve put in a pic of the chair in this blog post for your perusal. It looks kinda like the chocolate color in this picture. Trust me that it is quite a bit brighter red color.

Just a reminder, also, that the Inada Sogno massage chair will be going up in price on February 15, 2010 to $6799. Get it now if y0u are thinking of getting it at all!

Both of these chairs offer features such as 8 different auto programs, seat massage, fantastic neck massage and lower leg and foot massage.  They both have the manual programmability to customize every massage chair experience to be a unique one, tailored to work those specific trouble spots! Inada Massage Chairs Winning the 2010 Best Consumers Electronics Association

Inada has done it again! Winning awards for their innovation and design is nothing new for Inada, the leaders of massage chairs.  The Inada Sogno won the 2009 design award and for 2010 their latest chairs the Inada Cube and The Doctors Choice 3A massage chair have both been awarded The Innovation Honoree award in the categories of Home Appliance and Health and Wellness.

The first chair is the low cost, versatile, portable, mini massage chair, the Inada Cube.  This chair folds up to stow away, be a foot ottoman, or easily transport to another room in the house! This chair is revolutionizing the idea behind what it means to have a massage chair! This chair is saying “Yes you can!” To those out there that may think, “Oh, we can’t have a massage chair, we don’t have enough space!”  Trying this chair is loving this chair!

The second chair combines the sophistication of Inada technology with the comfort and uniqueness of a massage given by a chair that conforms to your body! This chair is designed to cradle the body and fit it like a glove!   It is also designed to put all those back aches and pains to rest.  This chair has air cells that inflate over the upper chest to gently secure the body while the rollers go to town, massaging and mobilizing the back joints and muscle tissues.  Once you try this chair you won’t have to visit that Chiropractor nearly as often!

PART III: Inada Sogno Massage Chair vs. New Sanyo 8700 Massage Chair

Here is the final installment of our comparison between the Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair and the Sanyo 8700 zero gravity massage chair:

Comparison between Sanyo 8700 and the Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus Massage Chairs (Part III)

The remotes are very different.  On the Sanyo 8700 the remote stays on a remote stand pedestal and has a separate hand held sensor that detects stress, your areas of stiffness, and your height, so that it can personalize the massage

Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair

experience to be as unique as you are! The Inada Sogno has a hand held remote that tucks away into a side pocket on the chair when not in use.  It has a one button touch system for the 8-auto programs that you can choose from on the top.  Under the panel on the bottom of the remote you can use the many buttons to personalize your massage experience every time you use your chair! I feel that the Inada Sogno remote is easier to use and a little more intuitive.

The foot ottoman on both of these chairs is extendable.  This is great to accommodate many different users’ body types.  The Sanyo 8700 massage chair foot ottoman extends out only 8” and can comfortably fit users up to 6’4”.  The extension is made possible by a lever at the side of the seat that, when pulled back, allows the user to push the ottoman out another 8″. The Inada Sogno also has a foot ottoman that extends out to accommodate users up to 6’5”, but it is extended simply by the user extending his/her legs. To retract the ottoman of the Sanyo 8700 the user must pull the lever at the side of the seat and the ottoman will “pop” back into neutral position. The Inada ottoman will automatically retract when the user leaves the chair after the session.

The look of the chairs are very different.  The Inada Sogno is more of a rounded chair and when reclined back seems to cradle you like a hammock.  It has a very contemporary design, for which Inada won a design award at the CES show in 2008. The Sanyo 8700 sits more upright and looks more like a traditional massage chair with an attached foot ottoman.  You can recline this chair back into its zero-gravity position to take all the pressure off of your back. Zero gravity simply means that the seat tilts up to 30 degrees to allow decompression of the lower back. Also, the Sanyo 8700 covers approximately 300 square inches of the body with massage mechanisms whereas the Inada Sogno covers over 1200 square inches of the body with massage mechanisms…significant difference.

Sanyo 8700 massage chair

So, after reading this comparison you can see that there really isn’t much in common between these two chairs, they are very different and both very good in their own rights! Best thing to do now is to get out there and try them out and see which one fits your body the best and feels the best to you! Have fun doing your research! According to our experience, the Inada Sogno massage chair outsells the Sanyo 7700/8700 series by quite a bit.

I hope these 3 posts help you in your shopping experience. I hope these posts are part of your research and due diligence. Call us at 888-259-5380 or our showroom at 801-417-8240 if you have any questions.

Inada Sogno Massage Chair vs. New Sanyo 8700 Massage Chair PART II

Inada Sogno massage chair
Inada Sogno massage chair

I hope you enjoyed Part I of Steffanie’s 3-part series on the comparison between the Inada Sogno massage chair and the new Sanyo 8700 zero gravity massage chair. Here is Part II:

Comparison between Sanyo 8700 and the Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus Massage Chairs (Part II)

The Inada Sogno offers a full-body experience massaging, including air bag compression on the arms, forearms, hands, hips, thighs, calves, and feet.  The intensity can be adjusted by body part individually which adds to the detailed

Inada Sogno massage chair
customization of this chair.  The Sanyo 8700 does not have arm, forearm, hand, or hip massage but it does do compression on the calf and foot.  This model has a two part lower leg and foot ottoman which is different than the Sanyo 7700 models, where the foot and calf components are combined into one unit. The 8″ extension allows for taller users to feel more comfortable in this chair.

The Sanyo 8700 massage chair has 3 specialty programs in zero-gravity reclined position.  This is a very unique aspect of this chair.  The zero-gravity positioning is very comfortable and relieves the gravitational strain that our backs feel every day.  For anyone with chronic back problems sitting in this position for a few minutes every day can make a significance difference in your pain levels. The 3rd zero gravity position is added to accommodate a stretch program in the zero gravity position. This chair also has a very special stress sensor, in addition to the temperature, pulse, and perspiration sensors, that will determine where you are holding your stress and can detect the mental fatigue from stress.  This assists you in retraining your body in dealing with stress in your daily life and can assist you in finding better coping strategies to release and let go of the stress and tension.

The Inada Sogno massage chair has several proprietary features and programs including its Signature Dreamwave program.  This is where the seat moves in a slow figure eight pattern and the air cells inflate to massage and work the lower back, outer thighs, and buttocks from side to side and up and down.  This facilitates passive motion and  flexibility in the hip and lower back. No other chair, including the Sanyo, has this low back technology which, therapeutically, is a phenomenal feature.  It also creates passive movement so that the muscles and joints in that area don’t freeze up, get stiff, or calcify.  For anyone who suffers from low back pain this program truly makes a world of difference because you are not having to actively create the movement.  With the passive movement you can experience the motion without the pain!   It also has a unique stretch program that induces flexion, extension, AND rotational stretch.  It is the only chair on the market that does that!   Its Youth program is a favorite for those active families that have children over 10 years old that may play sports or dance, or may just have tight muscles.  This program takes into account the child’s body size so it doesn’t recline back as far and it keeps the intensity low.  Children can feel great relief from the use of a massage chair as well!

Tomorrow I will post Part III of this series.

Inada Sogno Massage Chair vs. New Sanyo 8700 Massage Chair PART I

Sanyo 8700 zero gravity massage chair
Sanyo 8700 zero gravity massage chair

I just had an inquiry about the difference between the new zero gravity Sanyo 8700 massage chair, which was released last month in the USA market, and the popular Inada Sogno massage chair. It seems everyone wants to compare chairs to

the Inada Sogno. No problem. Here is Part I of a three part series on the comparison between the two chair models (written by our showroom manager, Steffanie Wistos, LMT):

Comparison between Sanyo 8700 and the Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus Massage Chairs (Part I)

Let’s start from the top and work our way down!

The Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair has an amazing head cradling unit, called a cervical traction unit, that not only kneads and massages the neck muscles but also provides gentle neck traction.  It also has the capability of working the muscles on the top of the shoulders (traps); this is a great way to release tension in these easily abused muscles.  This traction unit is also able to be moved and easily secured at the top of the chair and out of the way, to allow for 2 different ways to use this chair allowing for stronger intensity if so desired.   The Sanyo 8700 incorporates neck massage into the back massage created by the rollers that run the length of the track.   In other words, it does not have a separate unit to specialize in working the neck muscles, like the Sogno.  It does, however, have a neck pillow that allows for some extra support in that area if needed or you can move this pillow out of the way and that will allow for stronger intensity to be felt as well.

The back massage on the Inada Sogno massage chair is going to feel very different than the massage you get while sitting on the Sanyo 8700 massage chair.  The Inada Sogno has 3-D Roller technology.  This is a sophisticated mechanism that works the body from all different planes and not just the X-Y axis.  It feels a lot more realistic…more akin to a massage done by human hands.  The Sanyo has exclusive GK rollers that are wider and have been redesigned and reshaped from the rollers in older Sanyo models. Like most other massage chair models, it only works the X-Y axis of the body.  The track on the Inada Sogno goes very low into the mid-buttocks area and up all the way into the neck. The Sanyo track is also very long and runs from head to hip, but does not go down as low into the buttocks as does the Inada Sogno.

Tomorrow I will post Part II for your enjoyment.

New Massage Chair Relief Showroom Hours

I hope you all had a happy and safe new year. 2010 looks to be a great year for all of us! First of all, I just want to express my deepest, most heart-felt appreciation to all of our website visitors and customers for making Massage Chair Relief the premier massage chair online store. We just love our customers and have had such wonderful experiences with you all.

We are making a small change to our showroom hours beginning this month. Instead of closing at 6:00 p.m., our showroom hours on Monday – Friday will be 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We have also changed our Saturday hours t0 noon to 4:00 p.m.

The Human Touch massage chair warranty special has ended, so the full 5 year comprehensive warranty on the 1650 and 7450 is now off the table. Also, the extended 2 year warranty for the rest of the Human Touch massage chairs is also not available anymore.

However, we are still offering the extended comprehensive 5 year on-site warranty on the Inada Sogno and i2A massage chairs.

I have 3 black Inada Cube massage chairs in stock at my showroom and I would like to clear them out of my back office. Dang cute chair…great gift idea. And, to be quite honest with you, a great air bag massage not just in the legs, but in the buttock and low back too. Check it out here…

New Year = New Year’s resolutions and new beginnings. Get a massage chair this year to assist you with your health goals.

Price Increase Coming For Popular Inada Massage Chairs!

We just learned today from Inada USA that they will be increasing their prices on their famous Sogno Inada massage chair to $6799 from the current price of $6499 on February 15, 2010. The i2A massage chair price will increase from $3299 to $3799 on that same date. This is a big deal to us. We are very eager to see how this affects the amazing response we have seen on the very popular Sogno massage chair since it was introduced to the U.S. market in February 2008. The Inada Sogno has been, by far, our most popular seller and price has been an issue with many of our customers. I am interested to see if the popularity of the chair outweighs price sensitivity in this economy.

I have been so pleasantly surprised to see how massage chair sales have remained strong for us during this economic downturn. Well, this price increase will be an interesting “test” for you, our visitor. You never know how folks will respond until you test a variable. Price is a very important variable to test…something that most people are sensitive to, in one way or the other. Some people will think the price too high and will bow out of the market for this model. Others will see the price increase as a contributing factor to enhanced exclusivity that this product already enjoys. I will be so interested to see the consumer’s response to this. I will report on  it later next year once I have a good feeling for how it is going.

Inada Sogno vs. Inada Doctor’s Choice 3A Massage Chairs!

Inada DreamWave massage chair
Inada DreamWave massage chair
Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair

I received an email from a visitor to our site asking about the differences between the Inada Sogno Dreamwave massage chair and the new Doctor’s Choice 3A massage chair by Inada. I assume we will be getting a lot of questions about these two chairs in the future, since the Doctor’s Choice 3A chair was just released this month (December 2009) and will surely raise the eyebrows of many a massage chair shopper.

Below is the question from and answer to this gentleman’s inquiry:

Hi Alan,
Could you please email the brochure on the 3A.
Could you please advise briefly of the pros and cons of each model?  (Sogno vs. 3A)
Yours truly,

Hi, James
Thanks for your inquiry.
There are no brochures for this chair yet.

Here are the differences and similarities between the Sogno and the
Doctor’s Choice 3A massage chairs:

1. Sogno has the full arm massage; 3A has only hand massage.
2. Sogno has cervical traction unit with air bag massage on neck and
air bag massage on shoulders (trapezia).
3. Sogno has dreamwave technology in the seat, where the seat moves

Doctor's Choice 3A massage chair

from side to side in a figure 8 and up and down, through the use of
airbags; the Doctor’s Choice 3A has airbags in the seat that inflate
under the buttock and along the bottom/side of the thighs.
4. Sogno has thigh airbags that massage the Iliotibial bands; the
Doctors Choice 3A has the same airbag system described in #3 above.
5. Sogno is a larger, more contemporary looking chair; 3A is smaller
in size and looks more like a traditional massage chair.
6. Doctor’s choice 3A chair has the shoulder airbags that are designed
to hold the shoulders back when the rollers go up the thoracic spine;
Sogno does not have this feature.
7. Roller mechanism is similar in both chairs.

8. Both have a full, comprehensive, on-site 3 year manufacturer warranty.
9. Doctor’s Choice 3A comes in black color; Sogno comes in slate, chocolate, and creme colors.

You can check out the Doctor’s Choice 3A massage chair at

I hope this helps. Feel free to call me at 801-651-2026 or email me
back with further questions.

New Sanyo 8700 Massage Chair!!

I just found out from a client (it seems I always get the news 2nd hand) that Sanyo has a new model called the 8700 massage chair. I didn’t believe him, so I called my Sanyo rep and, sure enough, 3 weeks ago Sanyo launched this new model. It is in the same family as the 6700 and 7700 massage chairs, but has some upgrades. Here is what I got:

  1. The ottoman extends 8″ instead of 6″ – to make it comfortable for folks up to 6’4″ tall.
  2. The GK roller “balls” are larger on the 8700 than on the 6700/7700 models. This lends to a more gentle roller feel….less of a “shiatsu” feel. This client told me that it is a more comfortable massage than the 6700/7700 roller “balls”.
  3. The foot and calf mechanism is two pieces as opposed to the one piece on the 7700.
  4. 3 zero gravity positions vs 1 or 2 zero gravity positions.
  5. On top of the regular pulse, perspiration, and temperature sensor that the 7700 has, the 8700 massage chair now has a “stress” sensor to measure “mental fatigue” (I have no idea how they measure that, but I am very curious to find out).

The price point is $5999.

We will have this chair on the website by next week, but you can call us anytime for more information or place the order.

Omega Skyline and Serenity Massage Chairs Now On Massage Chair Relief

Regarding my blog post at the tail end of last week, the 5 year head to toe, comprehensive, in-home warranty that we are offering with the purchase of a Human Touch HT-1650 and HT-7450 massage chairs has been quite a hit! If you are considering one of these best sellers for Christmas, this $369 value is a nice perk to get the order done.

Now, we just recently put up the new Omega Zero Gravity massage chairs, the Serenity and Skyline massage chairs. Very contemporary chairs and priced very reasonably. I think that these chairs will be aSerenity Zero Gravity Massage Chair by Omega Massage home run for Omega. Take a look on my site at them and leave feedback as to what you think about what you read and see. The zero gravity massage chairs have been a hit since Human Touch came out with the HT-7450 and Sanyo followed suit with their 7700 massage chair. These new, lower priced models from Omega, competing with the Sanyo 3700 massage lounger, will be available this month, with the Skyline coming first within the next week. Apparently, they are in the port right now awaiting release to go Omega’s warehouse. The Serenity is on it’s way in just a bit.

The Omega 510 massage chair has now been officially discontinued. There are only 4 black ones left, 1 brown and 1 ivory one left.

Human Touch Massage Chair Extended Warranty Special

HT 1650 Massage Chair
HT 1650 Massage Chair

Hey, I just found out that Human Touch is offering a full 2 year on-site, comprehensive warranty for their massage chairs until early next year. What they have right now is a 5 year limited warranty, which is basically 1 year on-site parts and labor and 5 year structure/chasis. They are extending the 1 year on-site parts and labor to 2 years. A great offer for the holiday shoppers.

Massage Chair Relief is also offering a comprehensive 5 year warranty on the HT-7450 and HT-1650 massage chairs for the holidays! Aren’t we nice? Well, we know how much an extended warranty means to many of you, so we figured we’d offer that on the Human Touch chairs for this time of the year.

Some other massage chair notes:

1. Inada is offering a standard, factory 3-year warranty on their Sogno, i2A, and Doctor’s Choice massage chairs.
2. We have the Inada Cube massage chair in our showroom now and I sat on it for 1/2 hour last night and I must admit, for such a small and cute chair, it has a great low back and leg air bag massage. I was quite impressed. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much because of it’s deceptively small size, but the quality of the massage truly impressed me. And only $799!!
3. Your company’s FLEX plan pays for massage chairs. Take advantage of that before year’s end.
4. We have the new zero gravity massage chairs from Omega on our site…the Serenity and Skyline models. Pretty cool, eh?
5. Omega is discontinuing the Prestigio 510 model. Manufacturing costs have gotten too high so they are selling existing stock and then it will be no more! So, the bottom line is…if you want an Omega 510 massage chair, you better order now before existing stock is gone.

Have a super day!

Massage Chair Relief Showroom Thanksgiving Hours AND the Inada Cube Chair!

Massage Chair Inada Cube
Massage Chair Inada Cube

The holiday season is upon us at Massage Chair Relief, with Thanksgiving coming around this week. We will be offering a Black Friday/Cyber Monday special to our email list. You can call us toll-free at 888-259-5380 if you don’t get the emails. Our showroom hours will be as follows:

Thursday November 26 – Closed
Friday November 27 – Closed
Saturday November 28 – Open

Last week we added the new and very interesting Inada Cube Massage Chair to our website:

It is the dangdest little chair. It folds up into a cube which can be lifted and hauled around almost anywhere. It unfolds out into a full-fledged massage chair, of course not the same caliber of massage chair as the “big boys”, but a massage chair, nonetheless. It is the cutest thing I’ve seen in this industry in a long time. It retails for $799. It only comes in black and white, right now, but may come out in the advertised red color in the next shipment.

Incredible New Standard Warranty From Inada Massage Chairs!

News is out from Inada that their standard massage chair factory warranty has been changed from the typical 1/3/5 year warranty (1 year comprehensive, 3 years parts, 5 years chasis/structure) to a 3 year comprehensive, head-to-toe, in home warranty on all their current models.

No other massage chair company has ever offered something this comprehensive for their models. You can still get the extended 5 year warranty if you still feel insecure with 3 years comprehensive warranty. I figure you probably don’t need the 5 year warranty with this kind of factory coverage. Most problems, if there are any at all, are usually evident early on.

Now, the comprehensive warranty includes full parts and labor in your home or business. You won’t really have to lift a finger. Many issues can actually be figured out or explained over the phone, but, in the rare case that you need additional help with any problem, you will have a technician come to your home to fix it. And, in the extreme case where the chair needs to be replaced, you don’t have to pack anything or send anything anywhere. Inada will ship a new chair for you, set it up, and then pack up your original chair and ship it back to the warehouse for you. You just watch and then sit.

This is really quite a remarkable offer now from Inada massage chairs. I am very impressed with it. I suspect that this will affect how the other manufacturers will deal with the warranty offers. This is the new gold standard.

What’s The Good News About Massage Chairs?

There have been many discussions about the economy over the last year.  We have heard of many people losing their jobs, businesses closing their doors, and Corporations getting bailed out.  But there have been very few stories of anything positive, about businesses thriving, new businesses opening their doors, or companies creating a profit this last year.  Massage Chair Relief is proud to say that we are one of those stores! Our sales have increased each month this year compared to a year ago and in some months almost tripled!  We feel very blessed and are very grateful for all of our wonderful clients!

I attribute this in part to our low overhead but I feel it speaks volumes to our excellence in customer service and in the high standard of quality of our products.  I feel that another key point to this is that although people are cutting expenses in other areas, people are finding that the investment made in a high quality massage chair is a worthwhile one!  Massage chairs truly do bring a higher quality of life and an increased freedom to many that use them regularly.  To some, owning and using their massage chairs can be ranked as high a priority as having food to eat, water to drink, and air to breathe because of the relief that they experience from chronic medical problems.  Some of you may think that I am being a bit dramatic but then there are those of you who know exactly what I am talking about!

To go back to my earlier sentiments, we know that it is an investment  so we are here to ensure that you are well-informed, matched with the right chair that fits you personally, and are here as a reference even long after you have made your purchase!

I just want to take this time to say THANK YOU to all of you who have trusted us with your business!  We look forward to many, many more years of serving you with our massage chair expertise!
On a side note…If any of you DO have positive stories from this last year, please send them to us, or reply to this blog!  We would love to hear them and spread the joy!!

New Massage Chair From Inada

Inada has created a new massage chair that will be sold principally through the clinics/offices of health care providers, i.e. chiropractors, physical therapists, etc. Inada, of course, is the maker of the Inada Doctor’s Choice 3A massage chairrevolutionary Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair and the near-zero failure i2A massage chair. They are a very innovative company and have come out with very technologically progressive massage chair models.

The new model is called the Doctor’s Choice 3A massage chair. I can tell you that it is a chair that is designed to work on posture correction, as well as pain relief and muscle tightness relief. It will not be sold en masse on line but, as I said, it will be available only through health care providers. We will NOT be carrying it on However, there is a new blog that has been set up that will provide info about this chair as it comes available.  You can go to now and enroll on the pre-notification list to get updates about the chair as that info becomes available. I have sat on the chair and it is a pretty cool chair, to be honest. As a chiropractor, I must say that the posture correction features are great and very clever.

This chair is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2010. It will only be coming in black until demand determines additional colors.  The price point has not been determined yet, as far as I understand.

Check it out…pretty cool chair.

Inada Sogno Massage Chair Guest Stars on “30 Rock”!

Inada Sogno Massage Chair featured on 30 Rock
Inada Sogno Massage Chair featured on 30 Rock

The wonderful Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair will be debuting this fall in it’s new role as the massage chair of choice for Tracy Morgan on  the popular TV comedy “30 Rock.” The picture shows a red model, which I have never heard of or seen before. I am afraid that everyone will now be calling our showroom wanting the red Inada Sogno chair! I think it is a pretty cool color. What do you think? You can read the story where I learned about it here:

The article also talks about a Cube from Inada. Never heard of it. I will find out what that is all about and get back to you on this blog with more information.

By the way, if you want a new Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair for yourself, you have to call our showroom to place the order. Our number is 801-417-8240. You can also call our toll-free number at 888-259-5380. Inada does not allow online sales of their chair, although online display of the massage chair is ok.

Have a super day!

Christmas Massage Chair Shopping in October?

You may think me nuts, but I think you should start planning on getting your massage chair for Christmas now. Here are my reasons:

1. The closer you get to the holidays, the less of a selection you have. Chairs that have multiple colors tend to run out of certain, less-popular colors as the season progresses.

2. Shipping takes more time the closer you get to December 25th. Trust me when I say that it is a madhouse around Christmas-time. Most folks wait until the last minute (myself included!!) and then get into trouble wanting the massage chair chair by Dec. 25th because the shipping lines are filled up.

3. I heard on CNBC the other day that intial sales estimates for retailers were very low because of the lethargic economy. Well, last week retail sales figures were surprisingly higher than expected. So, the thinking is that manufacturers have put in lower than expected production for this 4th quarter, expecting the demand to be down. But, as it is turning out, retail sales are doing better than expected. Bottom line is that their may not be much inventory by December if sales continue to thrive. Massage chairs have already been ordered for 4th quarter and there may not have been enough ordered.

So, that is the rationale behind getting your orders sooner than later. Hope it made sense. I sure hope you are sitting on a magnificent massage chair come December 25th!

Massage Chairs Fix The Darndest Things!

Our showroom had a fascinating opportunity experience with the Panasonic 30007 massage chair in our showroom a few weeks back. A man walked in, or should I say limped in, our office with his wife looking for a massage chair to sit in.  Apparently, he suffered from an Autonomic Nervous System disorder (I can’t remember the name of the disorder right now). His symptoms included, among other things,  a very pale face, inability to walk normally because of a gimped left leg,  and a drooping left side of his face. To be honest, he looked quite sick and appeared unable to function normally. His wife actually had to help him get through the door and into a chair. He appeared totally disabled. So, why a massage chair, you ask? Apparently, he had traveled to Japan for his work and had sat on a massage chair in an airport over there. He said that he thought there was a slight improvement in the way he felt when he got off the massage chair. He basically was coming by the showroom to see if that first ime in the chair was a fluke or a real therapeutic benefit.

Well, get  a load of this…after only sitting on the Panasonic 30007 for only 15 minutes, he got up and seemed like a totally different man. After only 15 minutes we were all amazed at the change in this man’s demeanor.  His normal face color was back, his limp was gone, the droop in his face was gone, and his general appearance and health was vastly improved…and I mean it was vastly improved. Once he got out of the chair he had a great urge to go to the washroom to void. Who knows, maybe the massage got his bowels going too! The man that came out of the washroom was a totally different man that came into our showroom that day. He then knew that it was not a fluke, but that a massage chair could actually make a dramatic contribution to his good health. He is on disability and applied for coverage of a massage chair so that he can have daily, regular therapy. For those of you who think that a massage chair is purely indulgent and just an interesting piece of furniture that happens to have a little massage feature as an aside, think again. A massage chair is truly a bonafide medical device that legitmately provides a notable therapeutic benefit. Try it…you’ll like it. And it just may surprise you how good you feel when you are done!

Sanyo 7700 Massage Chair…Some Thoughts

As most of you know, we just got in the Sanyo 7700 massage chair into our showroom. I have been sitting on it throughout the week and have some initial feedback on it. Sanyo 7700 zero gravity massage chair

1. I loved the vertical track down the low back on the Sanyo 5000, which is the recently discontinued sister model to the Sanyo 6700/7700 massage chair series. This Sanyo 7700 is just as good if not better. The track goes all the way down to the sacrum (the top of the butt muscles!) and does a wonderful job on the low back. It is far more smooth than that of the Sanyo 5000. After 20 or so years I am back to playing competitive hockey and my sacrum is the area that this 50 year old body laments after a game. The Sanyo hits that spot perfectly. I love it. As a matter of fact, I am playing tonight and will more than likely hit the chair on my way home from the rink!

2. I had to move the rollers up manually to hit my neck. Previous to manually adjusting the roller position, the neck massage consisted mostly of a shoulder massage….a good one, but not all the way up the neck. Once I adjusted the rollers, the neck massage was great.

3. I like the massage roller intensity adjustment for the upper back and lower back. I felt a greater change of intensity when I adjusted the upper back intensity and not as much in the lumbar region.

4. I love the “Home Position” button which, when pressed, will automatically bring the chair back up to the neutral “home” position. This saves having to hold down the incline button whilst waiting for the chair to restore to it’s original position. It doesn’t sound like that big of a deal, but when you have to do it everytime you get a massage, it gets to be an annoyance.

5.  The upper back massage is very intense…and I like that.

6. I may not have figured it out completely yet, but it looks like the 2nd zero gravity position will preclude the chair from using the rollers….it is strictly an air massage when the chair is in that position. I don’t like that. I would prefer to have a full body massage when I am in a full zero gravity position.

I hope this helps you in your massage chair shopping process. Feel free to call us at 801-417-8240 or toll-free at 888-259-5380.

Massage Chairs and Neck/Shoulder Massage

I received a good question from a client today and I thought it was good enough to put his question and my answer on this blog for your information:

I’m currently considering buying a massage chair. I have chronic muscle pain in my lower neck and shoulders. This is the ONLY reason I am thinking about buying one so this is the most important feature. What would you recommend for this?

Thanks for your email. You will love having a massage chair! As far as the neck and shoulders go, I wonder if, when you say shoulders, you mean the top of the shoulders, i.e. the trapezius muscles, or the back of the shoulders where the shoulder blades are.

Regarding the top of the shoulders, 2 chairs come to mind: the Panasonic 30007 massage chair and the Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair. The panasonic has a roller system that rolls somewhat forward over the top of the shoulders (trapezius muscles) before rolling up the neck. This little forward roll is appealing to folks looking for a good upper shoulder massage. The Sogno, on the other hand, has a separate cervical traction unit that uses air bags to knead the neck and 2 other airbags to compress onto the shoulders. As a chiropractor, I must say that the Sogno has the best therapeutic neck and shoulder massage. It is quite unique, not using rollers on the neck and shoulders, but airbags.

For the upper back and shoulder blades, the Human Touch chairs, i.e. the HT-1650 and HT-7120, have a very good roller mechanism that can get the neck massaged quite vigorously, but they do not roll over the shoulders at all. These chairs are great for upper back and shoulder blade areas. You can adjust the intensity of the roller massage so that you can get vigorous massage to the neck and shoulders if that is what you are looking for.

As you have chronic muscle pain, I would recommend using the chair more than once a day, once you are accustomed to the massage and over the initial soreness that often comes with massage therapy. It may take some time, but you will begin to notice a decline in muscle pain the more you use the chair. It is a wonderful therapy for musculo-skeletal problems. As a practicing chiropractor, I saw many of my patients who purchased massage chairs not return for therapy from me because their pain had lessened considerably.

I hope this helps in your decision making process. Feel free to call me on my personal number at 801-651-2026 if you have any further questions.

Massage Chairs and Great BBQue in Malad, Idaho!

I get lots and lots of folks visiting our Massage Chair Relief showroom here in Salt Lake City from many of our neighboring states. As a matter of fact, we’ve had visitors from as far away as Georgia and Illinois. Well, we had a lovely 86 year old lady from Malad, Idaho come to our showroom yesterday to purchase an Inada i2A massage chair. I personally drove the 2 hours to her home this morning to drop off the chair. What a lovely town. I had driven past it many, many times en route to visit our folks in Canada but had never stopped there. I just loved it.

As we drove through the town to drop off the chair, we noticed a little B-B-Que place on the town’s main street called “Speros House of B.B. Que”. Of course, on the way out of town, I just had to stop there Massage chair owner at Spero BBQue in Malad, Idahofor lunch (can’t pass up a b.b.que place!). It is a little tiny building with the grills and smokers outside. There was cedar wood all over the ground and wooden park benches for sitting all over the place. The food was fantastic…I’m still full from the meal. Anyways, if you are driving down the I-15 between Pocatello and Salt Lake City, drop by for a visit and enjoy. I included a little pic of it.

We are going to have the Sanyo 7700 massage chair in our showroom, finally, next week. We are excited about that. We are also bringing back the Omega Montage massage chair to our showroom. We had some trouble in the past with the chair back not working right, but Omega has put in a new motor that makes everything just right. It was a fairly popular chair before so we are glad to get it back in the showroom. I hope to have a Serenity zero gravity massage chair in the showroom in October when they are first introduced to the US market.

Massage Chair Relief at the Eastern Idaho State Fair

Massage Chairs in Idaho State Fair
Massage Chairs in Idaho State Fair

Our massage chairs are up in Blackfoot, Idaho this week for the Eastern Idaho State Fair. I know we have a lot of viewers from Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming. If you are in the area, we’d love to have you come visit and enjoy and massage on one of our great chairs. We have the HT-1650 and Inada Sogno massage chairs up there. Apparently, this is a big event for Eastern Idaho and folks come from all around to do their shopping. Steffanie worked there with the chairs over the Labor Day weekend and said it was swamped with folks wanting to sit on the chairs.

Other news in the massage chair industry:

1. Omega massage chairs figures that the new Serenity zero gravity massage chair will sell for $2499 and the Skyline version will sell for $1999. They tell me though that the Serenity is a better featured and looking chair.

2. Inada is coming out with another massage chair to replace the D-5 and D-6 models which were discontinued a couple of months ago. When I hear more about it, I will let you know.

3. Although the Sanyo 5000 massage chair has been discontinued, I still have access to the tan colored version. You can’t order them on my website, but you can call the showroom and place the order while supplies last. Our showroom number is 801-417-8240.

HT-7450 Becomes Exclusive to Human Touch September 1st

I was quite surprised to hear this morning in a bulletin from Human Touch that the HT-7450 massage chair and HT-125 massage chair will not be allowed to be sold through distributors such as They will be keeping the chairs in-house and sell them solely through their website,

What does this mean? After September 1, 2009 you can only get the HT-7450 and HT-125 massage chairs through Human Touch, directly. You will not be able to get these models through our site or any other distributor. Of course, I am stuck with a floor model of the HT-7450 but that is good for my visitors because you can get this great 1 1/2 year old chair at a very discounted price ($1999). The downside is that we like that dang HT-7450 massage chair and have enjoyed having it in my showroom.  The zero gravity feature is a great feature. Of course, I have discussed the zero gravity issue, particularly with the new chairs coming our from Omega Massage and the new Sanyo zero gravity chair.

So, the bottom line is there are options if you want a zero gravity massage chair. The best option would be the Sanyo 7700 which is a very popular model. You can check it out here:

Call the showroom if you have any questions about the HT-7450 that we have.

International Massage Chair Orders

Massage Chairs International Shipping
Massage Chairs International Shipping

We have been selling a lot of massage chairs internationally lately. Just in the past 3 weeks, we have sold massage chairs to Costa Rica, India, Bermuda, and Chile. I suppose the dollar exchange rates are affecting this recent jump in international sales. I also find on my website statistics that we get quite a few visitors to our site from around the world. There are a couple of things to know about international orders:

1. some countries do not have the same electrical output as North America. For example, here in the USA we have 110 V outlets…in Europe it typically is 220 V. A transformer is necessary to make the transition. With a good transformer, it should not miss a beat when you plug your new massage chair in. Make sure that when you shop for a transformer, you get one that can handle the wattage of the chair model you want. We can provide you with the wattage of any particular model. We can provide a transformer for you too. Just let us know and we can get you hooked up with one to coincide with your chair shipment.

2. Warranties on some of the chairs do not apply overseas. For example, Human Touch massage chair warranties are void once their chairs leave US soil. Panasonic and Sanyo massage chairs have the largest worldwide distribution networks, so their warranties are typically supported in other countries. We have shipped all manufacturer models all over the world. But, the Panasonic and Sanyo models are probably the safest best for warranty support.

3. We, at Massage Chair Relief, will not ship the bonus gifts overseas.

4. Shipping costs for international orders are to be paid for by the buyer. We offer free shipping on all our domestic shipments, but not on our international orders. However, we won’t leave you high and dry. On some models, we can give you domestic shipping credit for your overseas shipping costs. For example, if our shipping cost would have been $150 to ship to continental USA, we could give you a $150 credit on  your shipping cost overseas.

5. We can get you ocean and air shipping quotes. Ocean freight is always cheaper, but it is not door-to-door. It will ship to the closest port and then you will be responsible for getting the massage chair to the final destination. Ocean freight will also take quite a while longer, sometimes up to 45 days (boats just travel slower than airplanes!). Air freight is more expensive, but goes door-to-door and only takes a matter of a few days to get to it’s destination.

6. Payment for international orders can be done by wire transfer, paypal, check or credit card. Of course, some overseas credit card transactions are considered a higher risk and would require some verification. Checks would have to clear before shipment is made.

7. Some countries have customs, duty, and/or import taxes/fees that they place products when they arrive to the destination country. You will be responsible for those fees so make sure you are aware of how much those taxes/fees are before you purchase your new chair.

8. We offer an industry-best 90 day money back guarantee on all our massage chairs, including international orders. However, you will be responsible for return shipping if you decide to return your new chair within the 90 day period. For transactions that required payment of fees, eg. credit card fees, wire transfer fees, etc., you will also be responsible for the fees. But, other than that, you will be refunded the total balance of your purchase, minus the initial shipping costs to your country.

Hope this information helps!

Massage Chair Relief Introduces It’s Corporate Wellness Program

After months of thinking and figuring, we, at Massage Chair Relief, have finally come up with a Corporate Wellness Program for businesses that want to have massage chairs for their clients and employees. We get a lot of inquiries about the benefits of using massage chairs in the corporate environment. We’ve sold chairs to tire stores, doctors offices, pet stores, hospitals, spas, mortgage companies, etc. So, Steffanie and I put our heads together and consulted with some businesses to come up with a corporate massage chair program. Check it out here:

If you are interested in our Corporate Wellness Program, let us know. It is not just for local businesses here in Salt Lake City, but works anywhere in the country. Give Steff a call at 801-417-8240. She can go over details with you. There is a video that we made that explains a lot of the features of the program, but she can go over it in greater detail. Some of the features include, among other things, volume pricing, fantastic warranty, and on-site training.

On another note, Omega massage tells me that the Presidio 510 massage chair is going to be discontinued because of a 25% increase in costs. I’m not sure if they will replace it with another model, other than their zero gravity models which I spoke about a couple of weeks ago.

A housekeeping note: we changed our tabs on the products pages to look like a more traditional tab set. We used to have long blue tabs with the different headings, like specifications, overview, product video, etc. Well, I spoke to enough clients to find out that not many folks knew to click on the tabs to learn the information contained therein. So, we changed the tabs to a more traditional look. I think it looks great and it is intuitively better for our clients. Take a look and see what you think.

Be A Fan Of Our Massage Chair Relief Facebook Page!

Steffanie just set up our official Massage Chair Relief Facebook page. We’d love to have you visit us at

and become a fan of ours. I don’t know if you know,  but we are also on Twitter. You can get “tweeted” whenever we make some exciting announcement or when I put out a new blog post. You know me…I’ve always got something to say!

I’ve still got a 1 month old Panasonic 30007 massage chair and a 2 month old Inada i2A massage chair in my showroom that are looking for new homes. The prices are, respectively, $3499 (regularly $4999) and $2699 (regularly $3299). It does me absolutely no good to have extra inventory in my showroom. It is expensive and I’d rather sell them and get new models than have 2 of each model in the showroom. Give us a call at 801-417-8240 and we can give you more details and take your order. Either Steff or myself are here and can handle your calls. Once we sell these two chairs, we will bring the Sanyo 7700 zero gravity massage chair into the showroom. I am excited about making room for that model. It is a very popular selling chair and I’m looking forward to having it here for our clients.

New Sanyo 3700 Massage Chair + We Now Carry the Sanyo 7700

I mentioned in my last blog post that I would go into some detail about the new Sanyo 3700 zero gravity (or “best position”) massage chair. It follows the new genre of lower-priced zero gravity massage chairs and is one of Sanyo’s entries into that market. Of course, Sanyo already has the very popular 7700 zero gravity massage chair and it’s sister chair, the 6700 massage chair.

But, these new “best position” massage chairs are a lesser priced model in this market (By the way, we just became approved retailers of the popular Sanyo 7700 zero gravity massage chair. We just put the chair on our website this last weekend and will have one in our showroom in another week or two. We are VERY excited to carry this chair. Because of our great reputation as an online and offline massage chair retailer, we were given permission by Sanyo to carry this model on our website and in our Salt Lake City showroom

Here are some features of the new Sanyo 3700 massage chair:

1. One-button recline to zero gravity position.

2. Firm kneading provided by 4 rollers to lower back, upper back, and shoulders.

3. Tapping/Percussion action.

4. Undulating shiatsu action on the soles of the feet.

5. Airbags for feet and calves massage.

6. Rotating armrests for easier entry and exit into and out of chair.

7. Backrest, footrest, armrests, and seat adjust automatically from upright to fully flat position.

8. Auto-alignment: body-shape sensor automatically adjusts to user’s shoulder height.

9. 6 automatic programs.

10. Synthetic leather upholstery.

11. 23 5/8 inch vertical track.

There is another Sanyo chair in the market, called the Relaxation Chair, that is only carried through Relax the Back. I have been asked what the difference is between these chairs, besides the obvious exterior look. The difference, in a nutshell, is that the Relaxation Chair has massage but it is minimal and only in the form of airbags…no rollers. It is zero gravity, but other than that, not much more in common with the Sanyo 3700 model. It really isn’t a “true” massage chair, as it does not feature the typical rollers that a traditional massage chair would feature. It is also only $200 less than the Sanyo 3700…the Sanyo 3700 going for $2999, the Relaxation Chair going for $2799.

I hope this helps you in your shopping experience.

New Massage Chair From Sanyo!

I told you about the new Omega line of zero gravity massage chairs a couple of weeks ago. Well, I just learned that Sanyo has a new line of chairs which also combine the zero gravity (or “best” position as it is beingNew Sanyo 3700 massage chair called by Sanyo) and massage chair features. I will tell you a little about the new Sanyo 3700 relaxation massage chair lounger in a moment, but first I want to talk a little about the evolution of these zero/anti gravity massage chairs.

I think this is how it all began:

Human Touch came out with a beautiful, non-massage chair known as the Perfect Chair. It reclined the user, while also tilting the seat up at a 30-40 degree angle so that your body would be positioned without strain or compression on the low back. It was a spin on the old inversion machines and, more recently, the spinal decompression phenomenon that we see advertised everywhere nowadays. Well, Human Touch saw how popular the Perfect Chair was and took that technology and integrated it with the massage chair features in the HT-7450.  Human Touch touted it as the “First Anti-Gravity Massage Chair”. The chair even won an award for the concept.

Sanyo then came out, around the same time, with their own version of an anti-gravity massage chair, but called it “zero-gravity” (they all have to sound so different don’t they?). The Sanyo 7700 massage chair became, and still is, a very popular massage chair (by the way, we will have the Sanyo 7700 up on our website in the next few days and we will have one in our showroom in another week or so). The even created a slightly less-expensive version of the 7700 called the 6700 which is also a zero gravity chair but with only one zero gravity position, as opposed to two positions that the 7700 has.

Well, to tell you the truth, I think that the popularity of the zero/anti-gravity feature has motivated Omega to come out with their Serenity and Skyline zero gravity massage chairs, as I explained on this blog previously

I also think that Sanyo decided to expand their zero gravity line with the new Sanyo 3700, which we will be carrying within a few weeks, and the Relaxation Chair that is exclusively at Relax the Back stores.  I suspect that other manufacturers will come out with their versions of this phenomenon in the next year or so. Is it a fad or is it really a therapeutic wonder? I figure it will have some staying power as the zero/anti gravity feature does seem to help low back pain sufferers to some degree (though I do not believe it is “the” answer for low back pain massage chair shoppers).

On my next blog post, I will go into details about the new Sanyo HEC-A3700 “best position” massage chair lounger and the difference between this model and the Sanyo Relaxation Chair (Relax the Back exclusive).

Free 5 Year Warranty For Inada Sogno and i2A Massage Chairs

Massage Chair Relief just added a little something special for our readers interested in the Inada Sogno Dreamwave Plus massage chair and the Inada i2A massage chair…a free 5 year extended warranty. So, now for every purchase of the crazy-popular Sogno Plus massage chair and the near-zero failure rate i2A massage chair, you will get the extra peace of mind that comes with a full head-to-toe warranty.

Currently, both chairs have a standard 1/3/5 year warranty for comprehensive, parts, and structure, respectively. But, the new 5 year extended warranty covers everything from top to bottom should ANYTHING go wrong with this chair for a full 5 years. Not bad, eh.  The price of the chairs remains the same, but Massage Chair Relief will foot the bill for the extended warranty. Remember you also get free shipping for both chairs (and free white glove delivery and setup for the Sogno chair).

Sanyo 5000 Massage Chair Discontinued!! (I’ve Got A Floor Model For You)

I spoke to the marketing rep for Sanyo massage chairs yesterday and got the scoop that the Sanyo 5000 has been discontinued. It kinda surprised me since it is a popular selling chair. Apparently, they are discontinuing it and introducing a new model later this year which, when I hear more about it, I will share with you. We also received permission yesterday to finally add the Sanyo 7700 zero gravity massage chair to our website. Sanyo does not want any price slashing on their zero gravity chairs and are working hard at maintaining online pricing integrity for their models (maybe that’s why they are discontinuing the 5000 model, eh?…hhhmmm…I wonder). Anyway, now that we are considered a trusted partner by Sanyo they gave us permission to add the 7700 to our website. I sent off the request to my web designer this morning and hope to have it up ASAP.

I am very excited about this as we have sold many of this massage chair model even though it has not been on our website. We have also sold many of it’s sister chair, the 6700 massage chair, which is also zero-gravity, but about $500 less. I have discussed the differences between the two models in a previous blog post:

Both are fantastic chairs that boast the zero gravity feature…which is fantastic for you low-back pain sufferers out there.

Well, since the Sanyo 5000 massage chair has been discontinued, I have a floor model for sale. It is about 1 1/2 years old and is in good condition. It has had some wear and tear but works great. I am selling this chair for only…are you ready for this…$1499. It’s regular retail is $3999. You can call us at our showroom at 801-417-8240 or visit our website to order it ( But, since there is just the one 5000 massage chair, once it is gone…it is gone.

Have a super weekend and thanks for visiting us today.

More Pics & Info of New Omega Chairs…and Our First Client in Bermuda!!

Yesterday I told you a little bit about the new zero gravity massage chairs from Omega Massage. I put up pictures of the Skyline on that post, but have since received more images of the Serenity model. Pretty cool look. Below are those pics of that zero gravity massage chair. Here are some features of both the Skyline and Serenity models, as told to me by Jimi at Omega Massage:

“Zero gravity, Air Massage w/ 7 airbags, Lumbar roller, Vibration massage, total body heat, Auotmatic recline, 360 matching wood Swivel base or chrome legs, Contoured wood back, Mp3 player w/ headphones/memory stick and built in contoller. Keep in mind that the images I am sending are of the first prototypes and things like the black switch on the inside armrest will not be there. Also the Controller top will be color matched to the chair material. We will be offering the chairs in the tradtinal colors and are considering offering exclusive colors to dealers that want to particiapt. I will let you know more as we move forward to the launch of our new line.”

How do you like them? I think I like this model moreso than the Skyline model. I like the different base and the round sides. What do you think?

Hey, we sold our first massage chair to Bermuda yesterday!! A delightful client named Leah purchased the Sanyo 6700 massage chair from our website and this is our first Bermuda sale. I sure wish I was delivering it myself! Way to go, Leah. You’re going to love your new massage chair.

Make sure you check out the chairs in our Discontinued, Closeouts, and Floor Models page: are some great deals there on pristine, like-new massage chairs.

New Massage Chairs Coming From Omega Massage

I just got off the phone today with Jimi and Peter at Omega Massage. We called to find out if the chair back problem that we had experienced with the Omega Montage Elite massage chair is still a problem or if it had been remedied. We had had a few models in our showroom but had decided to not carry them in our showroom because they had recurrent chair back problems, where the chair back wouldn’t come back up once it was fully reclined. Well, they told me that it has been rectified and a new motor has been put in these chairs to make sure that didn’t happen anymore. So, I am glad to hear that.

While on the phone, Jimi told me about the new Skyline and Serenity zero gravity massage chairs that they are coming out with later this year (probably September or later). These are very contemporary-looking massage chairs that go into a zero gravity position, much like the Perfect Chair by Human Touch. But, these ones have massage mechanisms in them, unlike the Perfect Chair. Jimi told me that it has a roller mechanism in the lumbar region but uses more air bags for the other parts for the massage effect. He sent me over a few pics of the new Skyline model and he gave me permission to share them with you. So, here they are:

What do you think? Kinda modern looking, but kinda cool looking too. I love the wood accents and the silver legs. We will give you the feature-set for these chairs when I get them from Omega Massage.

Have a super day!

New Discounted Massage Chair Section At Massage Chair Relief!

As we grow as a company, and as we sell more and more massage chairs, we introduce more and more models into our showroom and we get a few more returns and exchanges.  We have also found that with all the massage chair manufacturer’s that we represent, we see many different models become discontinued. The bottom line is that we have used, discontinued, floor, returned, and exchanged massage chair models for sale from time to time. I usually will notify my clients through an email or on this blog, but now we have added a page to our website that will display exactly what models we have available at very deeply discounted prices.

Here is the link:

My web guy just set up the page and he hasn’t yet taught me how to add products, but we do have some wonderful floor models for sale and very, very good prices. Once he teaches me, I’ll get them up over the next couple of days. Stay tuned and check back periodically if there isn’t something that suits your fancy just yet…things change all the time in this biz and chairs come available all the time.

P.S. Rumor has it that Inada may come out with a new massage chair later this year or next year. Don’t know much yet, but will keep you posted as I learn about it.

Massage Chairs Help Your Golf Swing!!

I knew that would get your attention. Well, a couple of weeks ago we were preparing to do a segment on KSL’s Studio 5 television program. The plan was to measure the rotation of a client from left to right to see if there was any decreased range of motion. We noticed that our client did not turn to the right as easily or as far as he did to the left. Then we put him in a massage chair (the Sogno Plus) for 15 minutes. After the session was over, I had our client stand up and turn from right to left again. This time his rotation was equal to both sides.

Now, this client is a big golfer. So, I got to tell him that this increase in the range of motion to his right would help his golf swing. How, you may ask? Well, this is how it works…The power that goes into your golf swing is determined not so much by the strength of your muscles as it is by the heigth of your backswing. The higher your backswing, the greater power transfers to your swing and follow through. If you have ever looked at Sergio Garcia’s or Tiger Wood’s swing in slow motion you will see that the club, on the backswing, pretty much goes to 12 o’clock which is directly over the head. For the rest of us, it is not nearly as high as that. That is why they hit the dang ball so far! You can’t get a high backswing if you are inflexible or if you have lousy range of motion. This is where a massage chair comes in.

What I am telling you is that if you sit in your massage chair regularly, particularly before a round of golf, you will find greater flexibility in your muscles and joints which will help you increase the power of your golf swing, which will give you a longer shot. Of course, you still have to be able to hit straight and have a good short game (massage chairs can’t do everything!!) so don’t blame the massge chair if that doesn’t improve.

Happy Golfing

Cliff Levin from Inada USA visits Massage Chair Relief!

We had the distinct pleasure of having Cliff Levin, President of the Family Inada USA, spend the day with us at Massage Chair Relief. The day started with 18 holes at Mountain View Golf Course, with Cliff beating me by 4 strokes (I could have sworn that I was ahead!! – I will keep score next time). The clouds were out, but we only got drizzled upon once. Otherwise a beautiful day for golfing. If you would like to know what kind of golfer I am, two words – Happy Gillmore!

Then it was off to lunch at Cafe Rio, a wonderful local chain of mexican restaurants. My wife, Mona, met us there and we got to talk even more about massage chairs and Massage Chair Relief with Cliff. The Cliff Levin of Inada and Dr. Weidner of Massage Chair Relieffood was spectacular. Cliff gave us some advice for our business plan and then we discussed the Sogno, the i2A, the recently discontinued D-5 and D-6, and the soon-to-be-discontinued Sogno Standard model. We also touched on future projects at Inada that may come to the USA.

Then Cliff came to our Massage Chair Relief showroom where we got to sit with Steffanie, my office manager and corporate sales manager, and chat for the next 3.5 hours. Cliff went over the Inada Sogno with her in detail while I fell asleep on an Inada prototype chair. We learned that the stretch program is best used with the cervical traction unit lifted up and out of the way, leaving just the rollers of the chair to work the head and neck. Steffanie said it was the best suboccipital lift that she had ever experienced on a massage chair (suboccipital means under the head). You see, there is something to be learned every day.

Cliff left us at 5:30 to head to the airport, but not without a photo as you can see to your right (he’s the tall one). It was wonderful to have Cliff here. He is a very good man with integrity. We have known that from the get-go of our relationship with Inada over a year ago.  But, getting to know him better has been a great experience. We look forward to a strong relationship with Inada Massage Chairs for years to come. Thanks for the visit Cliff. We thoroughly enjoyed (except for that golf score thing!).

Speaking of golf, Massage Chair Relief has been invited back to the Longest Day Golf Tournament in Midway, Utah this weekend (golfers love massage chairs…they help their game). Hope to see you up there.

By the way, one last reminder…this weekend is Father’s Day. If you haven’t got anything yet, get a doggone massage chair today or tomorrow. You won’t have the chair for Sunday but at least you can tell your father, husband, grandfather, son, self that you have one on the way. Now, get on the phone and call me right now to get the order in before the big day. Dads, TVs, and massage chairs just seem to go together really well!

Happy Father’s Day!

Massage Chair Relief on FOX in SLC

Massage Chair Relief TV spot by Fox 13 News
Massage Chair Relief TV spot by Fox 13 News

We had a blast yesterday morning as the local FOX affiliate on channel 13 filmed their remote bits from our Massage Chair Relief showroom. Big Buddah is the host and came here to broadcast at 1/2 hour intervals on the TV channel. We had reps from Rockwell Watches, Uinta Golf, and Orson Gygi also here pitching their wares for up-and-coming Father’s Day. I have included a few pics for your enjoyment.

The highlight of the broadcast was Big Buddah trying to pretend that he was using an egg beater as a massager. Well, it caught his shirt and twisted up in his shirt material. He couldn’t get it untangled and he had to finish the broadcast with it on his shirt. Hilarious!!

By the way, I had a question this morning about whether the warranty for an Inada chair is valid if the chair is shipped to Canada. YES, the warranty is good if you, as a Canadian, by a chair from a US company, like Massage Chair Relief, and have it shipped to Canada from the US. Good news, eh? (I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and know how to use “eh” if I have to!!)

Sogno Standard Massage Chair To Be Discontinued July 1, 2009 + Better Warranty + A Personal Note!

We just received notification from Inada on Friday that they will be discontinuing the Standard version of the Sogno massage chair. The success of the Sogno PLUS and lack of sales of the Standard version facilitated this action. To be honest, I have never sold a Standard model in the year or so since the chairs were released. And, I must say that we sell many, many of the Inada Sogno PLUS models. To quote their newsletter, here is what Inada had to say about the massage chair change:

“We have learned that having two similar models of Sogno has caused some confusion for dealers and consumers alike. We expect this confusion to abate rapidly with the discontinuation of the standard model.”

So, the bottom  line is that in the last month, Inada USA has discontinued 3 chair models: the D-5 Robo Massage Chair, the D-6 Robostic, and the Sogno Standard model. Let’s see what chair they come out with next. I know, for a fact, that they have been working on some different models, one of which I have seen…and I’ve got to tell you, it is cool! Can’t wait!! I’ll keep you posted the moment I can tell you anything without getting in trouble.

Another important thing that Inada alluded to in the newsletter was that their warranty has changed…FOR THE BETTER!! Here are the changes:

1. On-site service has been increased from 3 months to one year.
2. Factory service has been eliminated and replaced with upgraded on-site service.
3. Customers receive full coverage when they purchase a floor model that has been on our store floor for 6 months or less.
4. On-site service has been added for floor models that have been on display for more than 6 months.

Not bad, eh? Good company…good warranty. Makes sense!Dr. Weidner on Sogno massage chair with fruit bouquet

ON A PERSONAL NOTE: I hope you don’t mind this personal tidbit, but at the showroom yesterday I received a special delivery from my wife for our 27th anniversary (June 12, 1982). So, I sat down on my favorite Sogno PLUS massage chair, holding the fruit bouquet from my favorite person, Mona, and had Steffanie, our corporate sales manager take a pic of me with both in tow.  I thought I’d share it with you.

Have a great weekend!

Electric Massage Chair…For The Pool?!?!

Massage Chair Pool Lounger
Massage Chair Pool Lounger

Man, when I first read this I almost burst out laughing imagining using an electric device the size of a massage chair in the water. I can hear my mother’s voice in the caverns of my brain telling me to not have the radio too close to the tub when I was a kid for fear of electrocuting myself (even though, deep down, I think she was hoping it would happen…I think I was a tough kid to raise!).

Well, I thought I’d share this product with you for your day’s enjoyment. I think the funniest part is the comment section and all the funny, clever responses the readers are making:

Apparently, this is a device that massages your spine while you float in your pool. Hhhmmm…I wonder if I could bring it to the public swimming pool if I don’t have a pool of my own! It looks like it is only a vibrating massage chair …no rollers or air bags. It might look good in your living room.

Difference Between HT-135 and Panasonic 1285 Massage Chairs

Panasonic 1285 Massage Chair
Panasonic 1285 Massage Chair

Some of the best material for my blog comes from questions that shoppers, like you, ask about different massage chairs. It actually challenges me to make sure I know the models well enough to offer constructive input on a chair, alone or in comparison to another. I had another email request for information about the differences between the HT-135 massage chair by Human Touch (same family as the HT-125 and HT-136 massage chairs….exact same chairs except for the looks!) and the Panasonic 1285 massage chair. Below is the question, as asked by the shopper, and my response to him. I hope this assists you good folks in your massage chair buying decision:

Hi I have spent much time on your website looking at massage chair info. I am considering the Panasonic ep1285 and the Human Touch HT135 and wondered if you had a preference of one or the other and if so why?
Thanks for any info you may be able to offer.
Also your web site is very informative.

Hi, Gary
Thank you so much for your email. Two great chairs you are looking at. Here are the differences and similarities as I see them (we have both chairs in our showroom):

1. both chairs have leather upholstery
2. the HT-135 has a swivel base, where the chair can be swivelled 60 degrees, whereas the Panasonic 1285 is fixed on the ground.
3. the Panasonic 1285 has a calf AND foot massager ottoman with a 6 inch extender for taller folks, whereas the HT-135 has just a calf massager (which can be rotated so that the calf wells do not show when not in use).
4. the HT-135 has 3 main auto programs: full back, low back, and upper back. The Panasonic 1285 has 4, more sophisticated, auto programs: Shiatsu, Swedish, Chiro, and Quick.
5. neither chair has an intensity adjustment for the rollers.
6. both chairs have vertical roller height adjustment for taller and shorter folks.
7. the Panasonic 1285 has the following manual functions: kneading, compression, swedish, hawaiian, soft shiatsu, tapping
8. the HT-135 has the following manual functions: kneading, compression, percussion, roller width adjustment.
9. the HT-135 has a stretch function, whereas the Panasonic 1285 has a leg stretch feature.
10. neither chair has thigh/buttock massage.
11. neither chair has heat function.
12. generally speaking, the HT-135 has a more vigorous roller massage on the back than does the Panasonic 1285.

Except for the less vigorous massage, I would prefer the Panasonic 1285 massage chair over the HT-135. The HT-135 model has been discontinued so will only be available until stock runs out.

Well, that about does it. I hope this helps in some way. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. You can always reach me on my personal cell phone, 801-651-2026.

How About A Massage Chair For Father’s Day? Hhhmmm…

Yes, it is Father’s Day this month and, yes, you probably think that your Dad already has everything and that you could never think of something else to give him. You could get him a chainsaw or a new tool set. Or you could get your Dad a massage chair. Think of the benefits:

1. Pain relief – aches and pains can be washed away with a few short sessions on a massage chair.

2. Reduce muscle tension – those dang muscles spasms, not to mention scar tissue from years of body abuse by the old man, need a good massage chair to work out the fibrosis.

3. Increase flexibility – ’tis the golfing season. Improve your Dad’s swing.

4. Improved circulation – his feet will tingle like never before.

5. Can watch TV and be massaged at the same time – with basketball and hockey playoffs, what a better way to spend time in front of the TV than by sitting in a massage chair?

6. Another reason for your Dad to love his son or daughter even more!!

SO, there you go…a great Father’s Day gift idea. A massage chair…from Massage Chair Relief (of course).

A Bunch of Massage Chair Bull!!

I had a phone call from Clearwater, Florida yesterday morning, from a massage chair shopper. We had a wonderful conversation, but he said one thing about his massage chair shopping experience that stuck in my head all day and night and has been progressively driving me nuts (and I am a little nuts to begin with!). He was told by an employee/owner at a brick-and-mortar store in Clearwater that they didn’t have any massage chairs to try out because since the recession began no one is buying massage chairs. So, because of that they do not carry any massage chairs in their store now.

That bugged me so dang bad that I just had to write about it. Our experience has been completely and totally opposite of that.  Since the recession began last summer, our sales have been better than they have ever been in the 5+ years I have been in the massage chair business! Granted, we have less people visiting the website, but the true buyers are still out there and massage chair sales are flourishing during this recession. It has totally surprised me, to be honest with you, but I am so excited to say that sales have never been better and we continue to grow. But, having said that, I believe that I am a street-smart and fiscally conservative business owner…and that is something we must all be to thrive in this challenging economy.

So, the “bull” to me is someone saying that no one is buying massage chairs when, in fact, sales are exceptional. I think comments like those speak to marketing effectiveness and responsiveness to the market. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and taking care of our clients LONG AFTER the sale is completed. I don’t buy into the doom and gloom. I just buy into giving the customer exactly what they want….and that is to be taken care of! Call me old-fashioned, but that is exactly how I like to be treated. You know the old “Do unto others…” addage. Or “The Golden Rule”. Old fashioned? I don’t think so. I just think people nowadays expect everything without giving an effort. The concept of reciprocity is lost on a lot of our up-and-coming generation. I know my kids have, at times, bought into the entitlement mentality, where they feel things are owed to them. That really bugs me. “You reap what you sow”; “What goes around comes around”. It’s all the same thing.

Oh well, enough of that soap box. We are old fashioned, we are thriving, we love what we do, we enjoy every assocation with every person who calls or emails us, we are exceedingly optimistic about the future. Massage chairs are awesome!!

Have a wonderful (and prosperous) day!

Massage Chair Relief Showroom 1 Year Anniversary!

Massage Chair Relief Showroom
Massage Chair Relief Showroom

It just dawned on us, here at the Massage Chair Relief showroom, that our store in Utah has been open for 1 year! Although we have been online for 4 years now, the brick and mortar store that many of you have visited, is now a year old. It has been a great year. We have put out some wonderful television commercials, we have been in all kinds of trade shows and golf tournaments, and we have made many, many friends in the community and around the country.

The massage chair business has been more than I could ever have imagined. We have met so many wonderful people and helped so many folks, like you, to feel better. This has been a business that many members of my family have become involved with, including my sweet wife, Mona.  We absolutely love doing what we are doing….and we absolutely love that we have met so many great clients who came into our our store.

What can we expect for the next year? Well, I’m not sure, but I have a couple of ideas I plan on looking into. For example, we are seriously looking into opening another store. One thing I have learned over this last year is that there are not enough massage chairs on display around the country for people to try out. We get so many calls from shoppers just wanting to experience a massage chair before committing to buying it. A showroom is the way to do that.

I am also considering moving to a location where we have more walk-by traffic. We are in a good location, but our walk by traffic is virtually non-existent. Everyone comes in from finding us on the web or by seeing our commercial or through a friend’s referral. We just need to get more butts into our massage chair, and a busier store front would help. But, I sure don’t want to overextend us with an expensive space. Leasing can be very, very expensive. But, we’ll keep you posted!

Thank you for your fantastic patronage and support over the last 4 years. We love what we do and we truly appreciate our clients and visitors.

Hey, I just had a brilliant idea!! I should have some sort of an anniversary special. Since I can’t advertise any price discounts (the manufacturers don’t like that too much!), why don’t you send me an email to my personal email address,, and put the words “anniversary special” in the subject line and I will send you special offer on massage chairs. How does that sound? You can even leave your phone number in the email and I will call you and give you the info over the phone if that is what you want. But, send the email and I will have something special for my blog readers.

Thanks, again.

A Raving Review About The Sogno PLUS Massage Chair

Inada Sogno Plus Version Massage Chair
Inada Sogno Plus Version Massage Chair

I was thrilled to get this email from Jun Roxas, a new client who purchased a brand new Sogno PLUS massage chair by Inada. I thought I would share it with you before I put it on the website, in our testimonial department…

Dr. Weidner,

Received my chair on Friday. It’s AWESOME!!!! It did take some adjusting to get it just right but the more I used it and explored, the more comfortable I got with it.
A few observations:

1) Holding the control is a bit awkward, I might install it on a gooseneck (like the Panasonic chair) so I can see it while reclined and have easy access to it.

2) The chair does so much more than the instructions, the combinations are endless.

3) It can be reclined to the Zero Gravity position yet they don’t advertise this.

Over the weekend, I had to walk away from it or I would have had too many massages!

Thanks again for the great service. You have a customer and reference for life.

Best of regards,

Jun Roxas

Check Out The New Generation of Massage Chair!!

DIY Massage Chair
DIY Massage Chair

I found this story on the web while doing a little massage chair homework. Take a look at this picture. It is of a 78 year old Chinese man, Lin Shuseng, and his home-made massage chair. It is made from accumulated scrap and created as a labor of love for his ailing wife. He says it is a work in progress, future additions to include a heating pot to go under the seat to warm the buttock and thighs. It has taken him 8 years to create this masterpiece.

The things that I’d like to try out include the massaging mechanism over the stomach. When I was in clinical practice I met folks all the time who had had massage to the viscera with great results. I suppose it is just a matter of time before massage chairs come out with a frontal massage mechanism.

I also am very interested in what the eye massage mechanism does. I imagine that it doesn’t really “massage” the eyes. The thought of someone massaging my eyes makes me feel almost nauseous! But, perhaps a vibration with heat/cold accessory would work. I have seen those ice packs designed for the eyes for relieving headaches. Maybe that is what he has got going on with that set up.

It looks like he has a scalp massage behind the head. What a great idea! People love scalp massages. As a matter of fact, one of my favorite things about getting my haircut is getting the shampoo job cause it feels so dang good to have someone massage my scalp.

I sure wish I could see this chair up close. I’ll bet that he will get enough press over this massage chair that some manufacturer in China (since that is where most of the chairs are made!) will buy his idea, modify it, and sell it around the world.

Have a great weekend!

Panasonic 30006 vs. Panasonic 30007 Massage Chairs

We get calls all the time asking about the difference between the Panasonic 30006 and 30007 massage chair models. They both come from the same 30000 series that Panasonic began a year or so ago withPanasonic 30007 massage chair the 30003. The design is the same, but there are a few subtle differences amongst all the 30000 series chairs…mostly with the number or airbags. Now, the differences between the 30006 and 30007 are as follows:

1.  same number of airbags; same appearance.

2. price difference. We sell the 30007 at $4499 and the 30006 at $3400. We do not have the 30006 on our website, but we do sell it.

3. the 30007 massage chair has wooden armrests; the 30006 has the faux leather material armrests.

4. the 30006 is manufactured in China; the 30007 is manufactured in Japan.

So, basically, what I am telling you is that the two models are pretty much exactly the same except for the material on the armrests and the fact that one is manufactured in China and one in Japan. Of course, there is a price difference. Some folks really appreciate the Japanese quality and will pay extra for it.

I hope this helps!

Massage Chairs On Fire…Literally!

And now for something completely different…

No one was hurt from this experience, so I feel OK talking and laughing about it here. But, I found this story from 2007 about 68,000 massage chairs being recalled because two of them caught on fire! Bummer for a manufacturer. I have not heard of this happening before, but I guess there is always a first.  I remember driving down the street when I was an 18 year old in my 1967 Mustang, when suddenly flames started roaring up from under the dashboard. It scared the beejeebies out of me and I pulled over to the side of the street and frantically worked to put out the flames. Well, I couldn’t help but imagine sitting comfortably in a massage chair watching my Edmonton Oilers go down in flames playing against the Calgary Flames, when suddenly I see flames coming up on either side of the armrests in the middle of my family room. Nightmarish, really.  Well, here is the story synopsis…

Massage chairs in the hot seat

January 31, 2007 03:33pm

JAPANESE electronics giant Matsushita is recalling more than 68,000 massage chairs after two reports that they caught fire.

Matsushita, best known for the Panasonic brand, will recall 68,762 massage chairs produced in Japan and sold under the National brand since June 2005, a company spokesman said.

The company heard of two cases in which the chairs caught on fire after the power wire for the internal motor burnt out, he said.

The chairs, produced by Matsushita Electric Works Ltd, were partly damaged but there were no injuries, he said.

There will be a hot time in the old town tonight! Have a great weekend.

Lots of Massage Chair News!

A lot is going on right now with the massage chair biz! I told you last week that Inada is discontinuing their D-5 Robo Chair and D-6 Robostic massage chair models because of the popularity of their new Sogno massage chairs.

Well, I learned last week that Human Touch has dropped their Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) on the HT-1650 massage chair to $3999 (from $4795) and on the HT-7450 zero gravity massage chair to $3299 (from $3999). They have also dropped their MAP pricing on the HT-125 to $1999 (from $2299). I wondered if perhaps they were planning on discontinuing these models, too, especially the HT-1650 since they dropped the price on that chair to such a low MAP. I was frankly stunned by the low price on the HT-1650. But, it is great for you, the consumer.

The Panasonic 1285 “Urban” massage chair is now in stock. It has been a popular seller and was out of stock for quite some time. It is now in stock…but for how long, I have no idea.

We sold our Inada Sogno PLUS floor model last weekend because we wanted to bring in the chocolate Inada Sogno PLUS Chocolate with Black Interiormodel with the new black interior material. It had previously had gray interior, but I think with the ease with which that color dirtied, they decided on a black interior. Good move, if you ask me. It stays cleaner and it actually looks pretty sharp…don’t you agree? Well, we got our new Sogno PLUS on Wednesday and Steffanie and I put it together right away. It looks very handsome.

Well, that’s about it for today. Spring is finally in the air here in Utah. It has been a long and cool winter and spring so far. I am so looking forward to a warm summer (I love summer!!). I hope you all have a wonderful and rejuvenating spring.

Inada D-5 and D-6 Massage Chairs To Be Discontinued…Great Pricing Now!

First of all, I must say that Inada NEVER offers price discounts on any of their chairs. Well, that has changed for a very limited time.

Since you have been shopping for a massage chair, you haveprobably heard all about the new Sogno PLUS massage chair by Inada. It has become the biggest selling massage chair because of it’s unique cervical neck traction, Dreamwave seat massage, and contemporary look (among many other things).

Well, this chair has become so popular that Inada has decided to discontinue it’s previously popular D-5 Robo Chair and
D-6 Robostic models. Their prices have always been $5799 and $6799, respectively. This is where you come in…

Until existing stock is gone and the chairs are completely discontinued, you can get the D-5 Robo Chair for $4299 or the D-6 Robostic massage chair for $4799.

These are absolutely unheard of prices. I’ll do the math for you…that’s $1500 off the price of the D-5 Robo Chair and $2000 off the price of the D-6 Robostic chair. In my opinion, these prices are unbelievable.

But, once the existing stock is gone, so are the prices…these chairs will no longer be available for purchase AT ALL.

Here are links for you to take a look at these models:
(notice the voice response microphone…amazing feature)
(notice the joy stick remote…another amazing feature)

By the way, here are a couple of other things you need to know about:

1. These chairs are manufactured and assembled in Japan (virtually all other massage chairs are made in China).
2. Inada has a reputation of making some of the finest massage chairs in the world.
3. Both these chairs have 5 year warranties.
4. Our Visa Gift Card offer does NOT apply to these sale prices.
5. Both chairs include free shipping, bonus gifts, and free white glove delivery.
6. Your new massage chair will arrive in about 7 days.

Well, I thought you’d appreciate knowing about this deeply discounted pricing since I know you have been shopping for a massage chair. Please take advantage of this while these chairs are in stock.
