Iyashi

Hi Doc, thanks for all your videos and a great website. In your opinion, can the Iyashi do as good a job for the neck and shoulders compared to the 8500 even without the Accuroll Function? One review says the Refresh Auto function on the Iyashi does a very strong neck and shoulder massage. Does it mean it is as capable in the neck area as the 8500, just have to learn how to turn it on??? Thanks. IT-9800: The Forgotten Infinity Chair!

IT-9800

When I first started selling massage chairs, my staff would haul a bunch of our massage chairs to local trade shows, like the home show, boat show, RV show, etc. Without fail, every time we went to a show, there was also a booth of Neox massage chairs there competing with us. The Neox chairs, as far as I know, are no longer available but when I began carrying the Infinity line of chairs, I noticed that the IT-9800 looked a lot like the Neox chairs.

When we received our IT-9800 in the showroom, the sales rep from Infinite Therapeutics told me that it was in fact pretty much the same massage chair as the Neox. I remember liking the Neox chair when I first sat on it but now I had one first hand to experience in my own showroom.

I recently sold my floor model and have waxed a bit nostalgic for it, realizing that I never really did a review of the chair. So, I figured that I’d record some videos of the chair and write a little review covering it’s primary features. The videos are being edited and will be posted on YouTube shortly. In this blog post, I’d like to point out those primary features that I think will interest you the most. Continue reading “IT-9800: The Forgotten Infinity Chair!”

Over 6′ Tall & 300 lbs – Which Massage Chair Is Right?

Things just come in waves. In the course of 2-3 days I had 3 inquiries from customers that had to do with size and weight and which chair would work. I had two folks that were over 6 feet and weighed between 300 – 350 lbs. On one of the days when I received an inquiry, I had a salesman at the showroom who overheard  me  talking on the phone with this customer about his size concerns. The salesman just happened to be 6’5″ tall and weigh 350 lbs and he just happened to offer to sit in all of my massage chairs in the showroom and give his honest opinion of which chairs fit OK and which did not.  Continue reading “Over 6′ Tall & 300 lbs – Which Massage Chair Is Right?”

My Interview With Jim Coppins, VP of Infinite Therapeutics (Part 1)

I sat down, via Skype Video, with Jim Coppins, Vice-President of Infinite Therapeutics, in a 1/2 hour, 2-part interview to discuss the company, it’s product line, and the very popular IT-8200 and IT-8500 massage chair models. Here is Part 1 of that interview, along with the transcripts.

My Trip to the Furniture Market in Las Vegas!

I made a quick trip down to Las Vegas Wednesday night to visit with some of my massage chair suppliers on Thursday (yesterday). I have heard a lot about the Furniture Market but this was my first time going. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I’ll tell you what…that is the biggest building I’ve ever seen. Not the tallest but definitely the biggest. The only word that came to mind when I first saw it was “mammoth.”

Inada staff

It was a behemoth of a complex, filled to the brim with storefronts of wholesalers with products from around the world. I spent most of the day at the Inada store with InadaUSA President, Cliff Levin. I had dinner with the staff of Inada USA and Bodo.ca, the Canadian distributor of Inada products. It was a wonderful time to connect with like-minded massage chair nuts and the ribs at this hole-in-the-wall restaurant were fabulous (even though I was dreaming about buffets before I arrived!).

On Thursday I had the chance to go into the behemoth complex known as the World Market Center, which is the actual name of the complex wherein the Furniture Market is housed. I went to the Inada store and sat on a prototype, concept chair from Inada called the L1. It is the first chair I’ve ever sat on that had rollers going down into the buttocks and thigh. The roller track was one continuous track from the head down to the thighs. Pretty cool. Don’t get too excited though…it will not be introduced into the US market. It was just a fun novelty for folks to sit in. They were also selling some great pieces by Wellington’s Leather Furniture.

I also went to another building in the complex and visited with Kirk Jennings, National Sales Manager for Infinite Therapeutics. He was demo’ing the IT-8200 and IT-9800 to prospective retailers. It was good to see Kirk again…remember that he just dropped off those two chairs to my showroom last week.

I’ve included photos of my day in Vegas for your enjoyment. If you ever get a chance to go to that complex, do it! It is extraordinary. By the way, here is a little video I took with my cell phone of the protoype Inada L1 chair. Enjoy.

IT-9800 From Infinite Therapeutics – A Brief Introduction

Kirk Jennings from Infinite Therapeutics was nice enough to bring the IT-9800 and the IT-8200 of their Infinity 5-Star Comfort line of massage chairs to my showroom for me to try out. The IT-9800 I had sat on before, but it was great to experience it again. This model is their flagship model and has some nice features, which I will get into in more detail when we have their models in our showroom. Zero Gravity vs. Inversion

In the past I have written about zero-gravity to dispel misconceptions about what it really is.

http://www.massage-chair-relief.com/blog/chair-models/zero-gravity-massage-chairs/

Every massage chair seems to be using the zero-gravity feature and it has become very popular. But, the inversion feature is fairly new to the industry and most folks think that it is the same thing as the zero-gravity. It is actually quite different. Continue reading “Zero Gravity vs. Inversion”

Infinite Therapeutics – Notes and Changes

IT-9800 Massage Chair
IT-9800 Massage Chair

We have recently begun carrying the Infinite Therapeutics massage chairs, their flagship chair being the IT-9800 model. A very nice chair which boasts some pretty neat features:

1. Leather upholstery – Very few of the chairs we carry have a leather upholstery or a leather option. Most chairs are covered in faux or synthetic leather. This chair looks great and could almost pass as a regular recliner. The leather upholstery contributes to that look and feel.

2. Inversion therapy – We commonly see zero gravity features nowadays, but inversion is not so common. Zero gravity is a feature highlighted by a 30 degree tilt up of the chair seat. Inversion, on the other hand, is the chair back reclining past horizontal when you put it all the way back.

You may or may not be familiar with inversion therapy where a person can clamp their feet into brackets on a frame that then swings upside down to provide a decompression of the discs and other soft tissue of the spine. The Teeter commercials on TV recently demonstrate this type of inversion therapy. The IT-9800 chair offers a past-horizontal recline which is an attempt to simulate that inversion therapy. The only other chair I’ve sat on that offers that feature is the OSIM uAstro, which is sold through Brookstone stores only. Continue reading “Infinite Therapeutics – Notes and Changes”
