1. Luraco has changed the brown color of it’s iRobotics 6SL chair to a lighter, more chocolate-colored brown. And, when I say chocolate, I mean chocolate. In the words of Luraco, it is the color of a Snickers bar. Brown can mean a lot of different things to different people, from light brown to dark brown, to coffee brown, to yellowish brown, to chocolate brown, etc., etc. Every massage chair company has their own version or description of brown. Earlier this year I wrote an article about fitting into massage chairs. I was responding to increasing number of folks asking about whether their larger body frames would fit into these newer chairs that have hip and shoulder airbags. I listed the measurements of the distance between the airbags to help people know if a particular chair would fit them or not.
Some people have broad shoulders or larger upper bodies that will not fit between the shoulder airbag housings of a chair. Others have larger bottoms that will not fit comfortably between the hip/thigh airbags. If this information interests you, you can read that article here. Hi there. Is there any way to get around the built-in 15 minute timer on the Inada Sogno?
My Response #1
Thanks for your email. The sessions can last from 15-20 minutes in length depending on the body scan findings, but other than that you can’t adjust the session timer. The good thing with the Sogno, though, is when the program stops the chair will not come back up to the parked position but stay where you had it reclined. You just need to push the program button again and it will start up with you in the very same position. Continue reading “Mail Bag – Inada Sogno Timer; Compact Chair; Intense Massage”
One of the most frequently asked questions I get from massage chair shoppers lately is whether the chair they are interested in will fit them. I suspect that with a larger body frame, broader shoulders, and higher weight, some folks are concerned about getting a chair that doesn’t fit them right. When you take into consideration all the chairs that have integrated thigh and shoulder airbags, this becomes a valid concern.
I find myself running down to the showroom more and more, taking measurements of distances between shoulder airbags and thigh airbags to see if a chair will fit for a particular customer. Earlier this week I was doing that very thing when the thought came to me that I should take a measurement of each chair in my showroom that has thigh and/or shoulder airbags and post those measurements here on the blog so that it becomes a resource for you, the massage chair shopper. So, without further adieu, here is the list of chairs along with their accompanying measurements. The first number is the distance between the inside of each thigh airbag; the second number is the measurement between each shoulder airbag. If the chair does not have shoulder airbags, I put “N/A”, representing “Not Applicable”: Continue reading “Will You Fit In A Massage Chair?”

CUSTOMER EMAIL #1
Hi. The Iyashi has 49″ roller track, buttocks and thighs roller massage. I thought the 8500 also had a 49″ roller all the way down to the buttocks. When I do the compare models on your website I don’t see it listed for the 8500. Yes / No ? The newer Iyashi doesn’t have Neck/Head Airbags like the 8500 ..yes /no ? I also see the 8500 doesn’t have vibration and the new Iyashi does. Where does it vibrate on the Iyashi ? They both have Zero Gravity but I notice the 8500 has 2 stages and the Iyashi has only one. What are the pro and cons having 2 stages VS one stage ? I really like the Inversion feature on the 8500 and notice the Iyashi doesn’t have it. Is this the same as the Power Recline ? My job has me on my feet all day. I work outside here in NYC and walk 5-6 miles a day and have to wlk up 5-6 flights of stairs several times a day up and don. So my calves are in knots and feet on fire at the end of day so the foot rollers for the 8500 /Iyashi is a must. I also carry a backpack that weighs at least 20-25 lbs on a normal day. None of this is helping my back or neck (herniated discs) . I like deep hard massages so the least air bag features for back and legs is best for me. Too bad they don’t have the rollers for the arms or head ..lol What are Quad Style Rollers compared to other rollers ? Alos..Do any machines actually have Grasping/Gripping..I see that lisyed as a spec but haven’t found a model with that feature yet. Also. what is Junetsu ? Thanks for your time ..appreciate it ! Tuesday morning I was off to Luraco’s headquarters in Arlington and my visit there was fantastic. I spent the day with Kevin Le, VP/Chief Technology Officer, Manthan Sheth, Electrical Design Engineer, Bryce Gaston, Electrical Engineer, and Patty Campbell, director of Marketing.
After spending some time chatting about Luraco, their company, products, and innovative technologies, we went on a tour of their facility. Now, since I have mentioned on my website that this is a primarily US-made chair, I will admit that I have received some pushback from the industry that perhaps the chair was really made in China and only assembled here. Although Luraco Technologies has been around for a long time in the defense and commercial sectors, it was only this year that they became a player in home massage chair distribution with their iRobotics 6S chair offering.
They manufacture over 50% of their chair in America, as well as assemble it here. One of the things that makes them unique, aside from their “Made in the USA” moniker, is the fact that they offer a 2 year parts and labor warranty, with an additional year for parts only and another 2 years of structural coverage (5 year limited warranty). Most chairs, outside of Inada and Panasonic, offer only a 1 year parts and labor warranty (3 year limited warranty).
I will also tell you that they have a wonderful tech support department and are very quick to respond to any issues with their chairs. I have a local customer who experienced a problem with his new iRobotics 6S chair. He called me, I called Luraco, and within an hour my customer had heard from one of Luraco’s engineers to diagnose the problem as well as make arrangements for it’s repair. I was very impressed with their attention to my customer’s needs.
One of the advantages of having a massage chair manufacturing company based in the USA is that the resources available are second to none. I’ve never had an engineer ever call any of my customers from any of the other chair importers for whom we carry chairs. You get one of the guys who actually builds this stuff call you to address your chair problem. Pretty cool.
Well, here are the details of Luraco’s warranty for your perusal (my comments included): Continue reading “Luraco Warranty Review – Fine Toothed Comb (Part 6 of 8)”

Some things have come up, since my last Massage Chair Industry Update that I shared with you on August 27th, that I thought were noteworthy.
1. The arrival of the Infinity Iyashi to the USA has been delayed another week. It was scheduled to come 2 days ago on the 29th, but it has been changed to September 6. I have no idea why it was delayed.
2. The Inada Sogno in black leather was back ordered until September 12, but that shipment has already been spoken for so the next shipment of that chair is October 6. Again, another reason why you should pre-order a chair that is out of stock rather than wait for the chair to arrive before ordering. Some of these models go very quickly, even before they arrive in the US.
3. Luraco is dropping the price of their iRobotics 6S to $5990 on September 1. It is considered a “limited time special” so I have no idea how long that price will be up for. It is regularly priced at $7990. Good idea to drop the price for the 4th quarter when all massage chair sales go up. Remember that I recently spoke of the upgrade from the iRobotics 6 to the 6S. The new model has the following changes:
- Human voice response in English, Spanish, Vietnamese & French.
- Built in Music Speakers.
- New software version with higher intelligence and advanced massage profiles, especially for foot massage.
- Bluetooth control with free smart phone and tablet applications, customer can control massage chair from their tablet or android phone. Bluetooth is an optional feature.
4. Osaki has replaced the old OS-2000 with a new model, OS-2000 Combo. Here are the main features of this new model:
- 31″ roller track
- Fits a person up to 6’4″ tall
- Zero gravity
- Airbag knee massage
- Priced at $1999 with a $200 instant discount
I hope to have this chair up on our site this week.
Well, that’s about it. Have a super Labor Day weekend!
Dr. Alan Weidner
It certainly is the season for new chair models to hit the market. It seeems that we get more new models just before the 4th quarter and all the shopping fun associated with Christmas, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Well, we have some new models to tell you about, mostly from Osaki, but a little bit from Infinity and Luraco as well: Continue reading “New Massage Chair Models Galore!”
Not all massage chairs are created equally! We carry so many different models of massage chairs, and each one has it’s own unique feature which each company has employed to try to differentiate that chair from the competition. I thought I would make a list of each of our top-selling and/or game-changing chairs and briefly list the feature(s) that differentiates them from the rest of the pack or, at the very least, makes them unique. Now some of these chairs innovated a technology that was very unique at the time, but have since been imitated by others on this list. I will mention both in that case. July 4th is tomorrow. Be safe and have a wonderful time with your friends and family!
The Infinity Iyashi has been getting lots of play since my literature review written earlier on my blog and my discussion of it on my biweekly Massage Chair Industry Update. I just got off the phone with Infinite Therapeutics and they tell me that they will send me a floor model for my showroom next week. I am quite excited about reviewing this chair in person and sharing that information with you.
I have had phone calls from as far away as the Grand Cayman Islands about this chair. The 49″ roller track down into the buttocks and thighs, along with it’s pretty cool aesthetic appearance, seems to have the attention of the massage chair shopper. The chair has a blue tooth capability and, so far, as an app approved for the Droid operating system. The app for Apple’s OS system has still not been approved but should be by the time the chair comes to market later this month.
iRobotics 6 Price Increase July 1
Luraco announced the price increase of their iRobotics 6 massage chair a few weeks ago from $4990 to $7990. That price increase happened on Monday, July 1. I am told by Luraco that their price increase was the result of too high of a demand for their chairs. Not sure if that is truly the case, but it will remain to be seen if the demand for their chairs changes with this huge price increase.
Panasonic MA70 Status
I am awaiting to find out if the Panasonic MA70 is still back ordered. It has been out of stock for about 2 months now and the interest for the chair has waned as a result of the meager supply. I hope that when the stock has been replenished, the demand will once again return.
Used Chairs Available at Fantastic Prices
I have a black IT-8200 for sale. It is a showroom floor model and is in perfect working condition. It looks like new too. It is over the first year warranty but we have a 2 year extended warranty available for it. It retails for $3195 but we are selling our floor model for $2499. This will include shipping.
I also have a black IT-7800 available. It is also a showroom model and is about 7 months old. It is also in pristine condition and retails for $1795. I have that chair for sale for $1395, which also includes shipping.
A 4 month old creme-colored Inada Sogno is also for sale. It is still under the 3 year parts and labor, in-home warranty and is in excellent condition….hardly used before it was returned by it’s original owner.
Give me a call if you are interested in any of these chairs. I am available at 888-259-5380.
Have a great July 4th!

I have been posting content about the new iRobotics 6 massage chair by Luraco Technologies of Dallas, TX. The big selling point and the thing that really makes this chair stand out, in my mind, is the fact that this is the first chair that is made in the USA.
I received an email a week ago from someone who challenged that claim, showing me images of an identical chair made by a Chinese manufacturing plant called Dotast.
I immediately emailed my contact at Luraco to ask them to explain why this chair was showing up on the website of a chinese massage chair manufacturing plant and to also confirm that this new model of theirs is truly a US made chair. Here is what I learned from this inquiry: Continue reading “iRobotics 6 by Luraco – “Made In The USA”!!”

I went to the showroom last night to meet with a client and took the time to take some pics of the new iRobotics 6. I thought I’d share them with you before I posted them to the product page. I took the pics from different angles and, unfortunately, there are some other chairs in the pictures. Hope you don’t mind!
This is a side view of the chair. You’ll notice the black upholstery contrasted to a silver base. You can also see a very nice wood accent between the plastic and the black. The remote control is a pedestal remote on the right hand side of the chair. Continue reading “More Pics of the USA-Made iRobotics 6 from Luraco!”
A massage chair industry first this last week…the first US-made massage chair is now on the market (at least it is the first US-made chair that I am aware of!). Luraco Technologies, known more prominently as a military contractor, has made a foray into the massage chair world with it’s iRobotics 6 (iR6).
They started a while back making massage chairs for spas and nail salons…chairs that massaged you but did not give you the full feature-set, i.e. calves and legs, that a typical mainstream massage chair provides. They have had great success with the nail salon industry and are now providing an upgraded model for home and office settings with the iR6.
Luraco sent me a test model of this chair a number of weeks back and have it in my showroom. I must say that it is a very, very nice chair. Here are a few things that I noticed about the chair right off the bat:
