OS-4000TAlan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today we’re going to talk about the shoulder airbags of the Osaki OS-4000T. Now, shoulder airbags, there’s different types of shoulder airbags, and I’ve discussed this in other videos, but there’s shoulder airbags that squeeze from the side, to kind of pin your body in, while the rollers go up and down your back. There’s shoulder airbags that inflate – they come out quite a bit from the side, and inflate inward toward the forward portion of your arms – the anterior aspect of your shoulders, to pull your shoulders back, when you’re getting massaged. And then there’s shoulder airbags that are behind the shoulders, that lift one side and then the other, to induce rotation of the shoulder, or the torso. Well, the Osaki 4000T has airbags on the side, and I’m going to turn them on now, so you can see these in action. But they’re going to inflate, and you’ll notice how they’re inflating now. I hope you can see that, with the limited amount of motion that’s in there, but you can see the airbags – see how they’re kind of pumping in and out – and it’s inflating on both sides of my shoulders.

Alan: Now, we’ll wait for it to come up again, and I’m also feeling airbags right behind my shoulders as well. So, this chair has airbags on the side of the shoulders, and a little bit in the back of the shoulders. Now you can see it inflating again, see how it kind of pumps in and out? It’s pumping to squeeze my shoulders, and hold them in place. Now, one of the drawbacks of a chair that has shoulder airbags is – well, in some chairs, the drawback is – it has a hard metal or plastic stop on the shoulder-airbag housing, as this chair does. So, the problem with that, on this chair, is that when I get my arms inside the armrests, and I have the shoulder airbags inflating, the bottom of the housing kind of digs in to the middle of my upper arm, and that’s a little bit uncomfortable. And this is a problem on the OS-4000T, as well as on the Osaki OS-3D Pro Dreamer, but the shoulder housing is restrictive, because it’s pulling – the shoulder housing doesn’t allow my arms to fully extend out this way, to put my arms in to the armrests – in to the arm airbag, the armrests, and the airbags there.

Alan: So, that is one of the drawbacks of having shoulder airbags with a hard-stop housing on the outside of each shoulder, but on this one, the squeezing is good. It holds you in place, and when you’ve got the whole system going, the rollers will come up and down while my shoulders are being compressed, to hold them in place. And I might also just show, if you can see it, I don’t know if you can see it with this, but there’s also airbags right here. Yeah, you can kind of see it inflated, there’s shoulder airbags right here. They’re inflating and deflating in harmony with the shoulder airbags on the side. See, now they’re inflating again, you see that, and now they’re both inflating. This one’s inflated, and the one behind my shoulder was inflated, but this one is not a significant inflation. It doesn’t really – it’s not like other shoulder airbags on those systems where the chair actually has airbags that move you forward from one side to the other, this is more of just a little – maybe a little shiatsu dig in to subscapularis and infraspinatus muscles back there. But that is a nice little additional feature, but the main gist of this shoulder airbag is right here on the lateral aspect of the deltoids. So, that is the shoulder airbags for the Osaki OS-4000T.
