Inada Flex 3sAlan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com’ and today we’re going to demonstrate the seat and waist airbags of the new Inada Flex 3s massage chair. Now, the reason I say seat and waist is because the airbags work in conjunction with one another, and they do a couple of things. One is that they, they compress the buttock, and the mid-back region, they’re also used to lift the body in the stretch position, but another thing that they do is they inflate one side, then the other, to induce rotation in to the low back. You’ll notice here, if we get down right on our – down low right away on the low back, or on the seat – you can see that this, the airbags are inflating from side to side, or one, both sides at the same time, that will induce a compression in to the glute muscles. So, it may not look like much, but when you’re sitting in the chair, you can really feel those airbags inflate against it, against your glutes. Now, you’ll also see the waist airbags are inflating, and these tubular airbags will push up against your lower lumbar, and they actually come up, all the way up to the thoracic region.

Alan: These airbags will serve to induce a compression to the lateral muscles of the mid, of the low back, on the outside of the low back, but they will also put – when the chair is putting you in to a stretch position – it will inflate to elevate you a little bit, and accentuate the arch of your back. Another thing that these chairs will do – and you’ll see also now, the seat’s inflating again, they’re inflating simultaneously, but you’ll notice now that the left side is inflated, and this one’s not inflated, so now this one will deflate, and now you’ll see the right one inflating – what it’s doing is it’s inducing rotation in the hip. So, it’s moving the hips to one side, moving the hips to the other, and that allows for rotation in the lower lumbar spine. The waist airbags will do the same thing, but it’s a little bit more visible, and evident on the seat. Again, you see the left side inflating now, the right side is now inflating, and the left side is decreasing, the airbags in the waist will do the same thing. So, that, those are the airbags in the seat and the waist of the Inada Flex 3s massage chair.

Alan: It’s a very clever use of airbags, it’s not just for compression, like in the arms, where it compresses and releases. This actually helps induce motion in to the spine that the spine ordinarily wouldn’t have. Rotation of the spine is not – of the low back particularly – is not something that you do a lot of throughout the day, when you’re sitting in a chair, or you know, doing computer work. This is a nice way to get some motion in to that low back. I hope you found this video helpful.
