Alan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today we’re going to demonstrate how the shoulder airbags work on the Osaki OS-3D Pro Cyber. Now, shoulder airbags have become a fairly common feature that you see on most massage chairs nowadays, and there’s two types of shoulder airbags, for the most part. One type is the type like on the OS-3D Pro Dreamer, where they inflate from the outside, against your deltoids on the outside of your shoulders, to pin your shoulders in. OK, so when the rollers go up and down your back, the airbags on the shoulders are pinning your upper back in, so you’re not moving forward like this, and losing the depth and the intensity of the rollers, so the airbags on chairs like that will just hold your upper body in.

Alan: Now, chairs like the Osaki Cyber, Pro Cyber, what they do is, they do that, but they also inflate to the front of the shoulder, to pin your shoulders back, and I think Osaki calls it ‘Spinal Correction.’ Of course, from a chiropractic perspective, I think it’s pretty cool that you can pull the shoulders back, and work on reversing that slumped posture that most of us have, but that’s the essence of these airbags, they’re pulling your shoulders back, as well as pinning you in. Now, the Cyber is a little unique, the airbags are a little narrower, from top to bottom, a little narrower, and so they will inflate on the front of your shoulders, also on the side of your shoulders, but what I’ve found, was that my height – and a shorter body might notice this, someone that’s maybe over six feet might not notice this as well – but what I noticed was the airbags tended to, also with the rollers going, traction my shoulders down a bit, so I actually got a traction effect from these shoulder airbags.

Alan: So, you see now that they’re inflating, and you can adjust the intensity of any airbag on this massage chair, and on any, pretty much any massage chair, you can adjust the intensity of the airbags, low, medium, high, is essentially how it works. You’ll see here how the airbags are – see, I can’t get out – the airbags are pinning my shoulders back, and then when you have rollers working on you at the same time, the rollers move your chest forward, but it maintains the traction on the shoulders, pulling them back. Also, when the rollers are coming up your back, and it’s kind of lifting your body, the rollers will lift your body as it comes up, well, the airbags on the shoulders, they’re inflating on the front of my shoulders, and on the side of my shoulders, but also a little bit on the top of my shoulders, and it’s preventing the body to rise with the rollers. So, it actually tractions my neck a little bit, and that is a good feeling. There’s only one other chair that I’m aware of that does any kind of neck traction, and that’s the Inada Sogno, and it does it by having airbags coming out of the headpiece that push down on your shoulders. Well, this thing does push down on your shoulders, but from the side, at a little bit of an angle, but that’s the essence of the shoulder airbags of the Pro Cyber from Osaki, a nice feature.

Alan: If you’re really broad chested, I’ve got a pretty broad chest, but there’s other guys that’re really broad chested, you might feel a little restricted by the airbags, but then you can just lower the intensity, drop it down to the lowest intensity, and you’ll find that you’ll fit in it a little bit better. So, those are the airbags, and I will shut that off, but those are the airbags, the shoulder airbags, of the Osaki OS-3D Pro Cyber, a great chair, great feature, great for posture. I guarantee you, when you’re done sitting on the Pro Cyber, or any chair that has shoulder airbags, you will stand up, and you’ll feel like you’re standing straighter and taller.
