Massage Chair Industry Update – December 16, 2015 (Video)

Transcript of Video Titled “Massage Chair Industry Update – December 16, 2015”

microphoneAlan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com’ and today is our biweekly massage chair industry update for Wednesday, December 16th. This is our last one until the – well, pretty much the end of the year, but the last – definitely the last one before Christmas.

[SCREEN TEXT: Christmas Delivery]

Alan: I will just mention that Christmas delivery, guaranteed, is pretty much a done deal, it’s over, I don’t, I can’t guarantee delivery on any chair. However, there are some regional deliveries, like for example, in Southern California, Human Touch, and Ogawa, and Inada, and Panasonic, even, are based in Southern California, so we can – and if you place an order, and you’re in California, or local to that – to Southern California, or maybe Arizona, or Las Vegas, there’s a good chance that you’ll get that chair before Christmas. But remember, shipping companies don’t deliver on the 24th, they deliver – the 23rd is the last day of delivery – so that’s next Wednesday. Today’s Wednesday, that’s a week, so if you’re going to order a bloody chair, do it today to get – you know, a chance of – for the chance of getting your chair before Christmas.

[SCREEN TEXT: Stock Status]

Alan: Anyway, as far as stock goes – and I’ll tell you this is an exciting time of the year for massage chair sales – I mean, it’s a wonderful gift idea, and people are buying these things like crazy, and there’s new models out. It’s really a wonderful time of the year, it’s the most wonderful time of the year, I guess, especially in the massage chair industry, but there’s something to that song, that’s for sure, even if it’s for different reasons. But anyway, as far as stock goes, the ‘Red’ DreamWave is back-ordered until January 10th, of 2016. The ‘Black’ Luraco iRobotics 7 is back-ordered until February 1st, 2016. As a matter of fact, Luraco’s not getting any more chairs until February 1st, 2016. They still have the ‘Chocolate’ and the ‘Cream’ in stock, but the ‘Black’ is out of stock, so you won’t get anything, but if the ‘Chocolate’ or the ‘Cream’ – I think it’s ‘Cream,’ I can’t remember the color, if they go out of stock, they’re not going to be – we’re not going to have anything until February 1st.

[SCREEN TEXT: Inada DreamWave Price Increase 02/01/16]

Alan: Also remember, speaking of February 1st, that Inada is raising the prices of, or the price, of their Inada DreamWave, to $8799. So, right now, it’s $8499, and it’ll be bumped up to $8799. I believe the leather is also going up to $9799. We’re getting awfully close to a $10,000 chair, in the leather Inada, so maybe another year, they’ll raise it up, and they’ll go to, you know, $9000 and $10,000. But anyway, just know that before February 1st, if you want to get an Inada DreamWave at the old price, you know, call, or order, or call before February 1st, to make sure you get your order in.

[SCREEN TEXT: Christmas Sale]

Alan: Let me see, what else have we got cooking? We have, oh, we do have some Christmas sales right now, and I can’t talk about them publicly, or on our website, but if you want to know what we’ve got for Christmas sales, give me a call. You can call us at 888-259-5380, there’s the phone number, 888-259-5380, and I can tell you what we’ve got cooking. We’ve got quite a number of sales and discounts on pretty much all of our chairs, but there are some chairs that have a deeper discount than others. Let’s see, what else have we got cooking? Oh, and Luraco extended their $700 off instant savings until the end of the year. And did anybody else extend anything? No, I think the Infinity deal is done, the Ogawa deal is done, yeah, everything else, I think, is pretty much done, but the Luraco iRobotics 7 discount of $700 instant savings, is still available.

[SCREEN TEXT: New Infinity Escape]

Alan: Also, oh, we have some new – well, a new model, that I just put up on the website – or completed putting up on the website, called the Infinity Escape. It’s a new chair from Infinity, it’s a $2995 L-track chair, and it has a 47-inch L-track, a roller track. And again L, and S, I hope you know the difference, S-track just means the shape of the curve of the rollers going down your back, but now the new chairs, the curve, or the rollers, continue on under the butt, and massage the glutes, and the piriformis muscles, and the top of the hamstrings, and that’s called the L-track. So, the L-track chairs still have the S-component, but now it goes underneath the seat, and gives you an L-shape, as well. But anyway, that Infinity Escape is a new chair, it’s a good price point, $2995, it’ll fit up to 6′ 5″, people up to 6′ 5″, and I think 5′ 1″, at the lowest. It’s has foot rollers, it’s got like six foot rollers on each foot, which is unbelievable, I can’t even imagine, and I suspect it’ll massage your toes, your heel, everything, but it also has a rubber heel rubber, that is supposed to be very good for plantar fasciitis. I don’t know exactly what that means, a heel rubber, but when we get the chair – and we should be getting it next week, and I’ve been saying this for a couple of weeks, but we should be getting that chair next week – then we can give you the full report on this Infinity Escape, which appears to be a fairly popular chair on paper. So, we’ll see how it feels, it has 48 airbags, what else can I tell you? It comes in ‘Black’ and ‘Brown,’ and that’s probably about it as far as I’m aware. It has zero gravity, of course, most of the L-track chairs are zero gravity, all of them are, it has a space-saving feature. Anyway, nice chair on paper, we’ll see how it feels when it gets to us, and we’re looking forward to try it out, especially at that price.

[SCREEN TEXT: California Store Update]

Alan: Let’s see, what else have we got cooking? The California store, well, we got the showroom ready by Black Friday, but we have not – the rest of the store has not been completed, and so we still don’t have our nice, big beautiful – well, not beautiful, but our big door at the back of the showroom. We don’t have the back office completed yet. The bathroom was nothing more than a toilet, a sink, and a roll of toilet paper, and a door, but there’s no paint, there’s no – nothing else is done in that room – so we hope to have a nice bathroom done pretty soon. But anyway, so they’re still working on the finishing touches of that store, but we did some decorating in it, and the decorating looks great. You can go on our Facebook page, and see the pictures, but there’s some nice decorating done there, with you know, some plants, and some, with a clock, and a mirror, and a little table up front, and whatever, really, really pretty, and well done. I mean, it’s not done, we’re still working on that too, but it’s quite pretty.

[SCREEN TEXT: New Models at Our Cerritos Showroom]

Alan: Let’s see, oh, and in the showroom, the California store, here are the chairs that we have there that are new, that we’ve not – we don’t have in the Utah showroom, we have the – we’ll have that Infinity Escape, we have the Ogawa Active, and the Ogawa Refresh.

[SCREEN TEXT: Ogawa Active Back-Ordered Until 12/18/15]

Alan: We also – and those are, oh, I forgot to tell you – those are back-ordered also, and they should be only back-ordered until the 18th of December. Their inventory management was not great for the holidays; I’ll be honest with you. As a matter of fact, I think every one of our chairs that were ordered from Black Friday on, not a one of them were in stock, at the time, or if they were, we didn’t get them. But those chairs are supposed to be back in stock on the 18th, that’s the Ogawa Active, and I think the Refresh. I’m not sure if the Refresh is in stock, but if it’s not, it will be in stock on the 18th, which is like the tail end of this week, I think, Friday, and we’ll know more about that this week, if it came in. Also, we have the new ZeroG 5.0, which is an upgrade from the 4.0, which we have here in the Utah showroom, but it’s a little bit better chair, for the same price. It’s a bigger chair, it has the warm air, circulating, warm air heating technology, which is pretty cool. They had that on the WholeBody 7.1, and I think it’s a cool feature, it heats the whole back, from air being dispersed in the back pad. It also has 3D rollers, and the neck 3D roller adjustment is independent of the low back 3D roller adjustment. It has the patented foot, or calf paddles, calf-and-foot paddles, with foot rollers. It has a rotating ottoman, and the ottoman doesn’t retract underneath the seat, like the 4.0 does, but it comes pretty doggone close, like you can rotate the ottoman over, so you can’t see the calf-and-foot wells, and then you can bring the ottoman back, and it almost completely tucks in under the seat, it’s pretty good. But it’s a nice chair, we have the ‘Black’ one in our California showroom. Also, we have the Navitas Sleep, which is a chair that was created between Human Touch, and Johnson Wellness, which is a company we used to carry their chairs, for which we used to carry the chairs. There was the Johnson J6800, and the J3800 – I can’t remember all the numbers, or 6800 – oh, I can’t remember the numbers anyway, but we used to carry those chairs. But it’s a Taiwanese company, and they do, they have Japanese designers, and engineers, and from what I understand, they are ex-Panasonic, ex-Inada, and ex-Fujiiryoki people. And I don’t know if you know this, but Fujiiryoki is the oldest massage chair company, they’ve been around – they were the first ones to actually mass produce chairs commercially, back – I think it was the early ’60s, ’61, something like that, after a fellow invented a chair, a prototype massage chair, in Japan, in I think, 1958, or something like that, I can’t remember the exact dates. You can go on our blog, and see a video done, a documentary on the history of massage chairs. Also, oh, anyway, it’s between them – and it’s in conjunction between Johnson Wellness, and Human Touch, who’ve contributed some of the design, and engineering, aspects of it, as well, and that chair is manufactured in China, but it’s made with Taiwanese components. So, it’s Japanese designed, and engineered, Taiwanese components, assembled in Japan, oh, in China. Anyway, I really like this chair, it’s the first chair we’ve had that has the full calf rollers, on either side of the calves, and the rollers go up and down the calves, it’s pretty cool. It’s got foot rollers, it’s got a very nice – it’s got like 36 programs, and 6 of them are designed for sleep – that’s what differentiates this chair from the Ascent 4, which is another version, another model from that partnership. But anyway, it’s a great chair, I really like it, if you get a chance to try one out, come down to the showroom, and you can try it out, it’s a great chair. OK, what else have we got new? We’ve got the, oh, we have the Osaki JP Premium, a nice chair, the JP Premium is 100% Japanese made. Now, word out there has been that the Inada chairs, and most notably, the Inada DreamWave, which is an immensely popular, and wonderful chair, is 100% Japanese made. It is not 100% Japanese made, it is assembled in Japan, and many of the components are made in Japan, but a bunch of components are made in China, and imported, or exported to Japan, where it’s assembled with the rest of the Japanese components, very similar to what Luraco’s doing with their iRobotics 7. It is an American chair, with American components, assembled in America, and quality control tested in America, but some of the components are Taiwanese, not Chinese, but Taiwanese, but it’s considered made in America. And Inada’s the same way with their chairs, they’re made in Japan, the majority of their components are Japanese, but there are some Chinese components. Well, the Osaki JP Premium is a chair that is 100% made in Japan, from what I understand, it’s a Fujiiryoki chair actually, relabeled as the Osaki 4D-Pro JP Premium, or something. The full name escapes me, and I don’t know if I’ll ever get it, but the 4D alludes to 3D rollers, and then a speed adjustment, and all 3D chairs have that. So, you can get 3D, which moves the rollers side to side, and up and down, and forward, and then you also have the speed adjustment, which makes it 4D. There is not a fourth dimension in our world, at least not that I’m aware of, so 4D is a bit of a marketing fluff thing, kind of like chromotherapy, but which is on our – I mean, chromotherapy as far as the chairs are concerned – chromotherapy is probably a very legit therapy, but on a massage chair, I don’t know if it’s completely legit, I think it’s more of a marketing thing. Anyway, yeah, I’m editorializing now, but anyway, that JP Premium is a pretty cool chair, very simple, no foot rollers, no zero gravity, but it does have – it works, the airbags and the rollers work in conjunction, very cool, and so it’s not just a bunch of airbags that are inflating on your arms and your legs, it works in the seat, it works in the waist, it has – the airbags work in concert with the rollers, and it is a very good massage, I was quite impressed with it, I liked it. And of course, I will do videos, and reviews on all these chairs, every time I go down to California, I’ll start probably after Christmas, and when I go down again, we’ll start talking about some reviews. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know, those are the chairs we have in the showroom. I’m trying to see if I missed anything – for some reason I think I – no, I think I’ve got them all.

[SCREEN TEXT: Infinity Prices Go Up 12/21/2015!!]

Alan: OK, anyway, let’s see, oh, Infinity is raising the price of their Iyashi, and their 8500, which are very, very popular sellers, you know, the Iyashi, I don’t know if you know this, but that’s kind of the granddaddy of L-track massage chairs. It came out two and a half years ago, very nice chair, kind of a funky look for some, but a very modern look, a lot of people love the look, and it comes in black and white shell colors, with different interior colors, but that chair is a very, very good L-track chair, I love that chair. I’ve got it in my showroom here, I’ve got it in my showroom in California, but they’re raising the price on that one $300. No, no, no, they’re not raising the price $300, they’re changing their instant savings from $600 to $300. So, it kind of is raising the price $300, because the discount is cut in half, from $600 to $300. And the 8500 is going to be going up to $4595 as their MAP pricing, with a $300 instant savings, so now the price goes up to $4295. So, there’s a $300 jump in both prices, final prices on both those chairs, and that happens December 21st, so that’s like next week. So, if you want an Infinity 8500, or Iyashi, before that price increase, get that order in like ASAP, and I mean, before the 21st, so until the 20th, get that order in. And of course, if you do wait until the 20th, you won’t have it by Christmas, but at least you’ll have the order in before the price increase.

[SCREEN TEXT: Best Refund Policy in The Biz!!]

Alan: Well, you know, doggone it, I think that’s about it, yeah, I that’s it. Our next stop is New Year’s, and we’re excited about a brand new year, with our California store, and with our Utah store, with our new ‘Peace of Mind Lifetime Labor’ warranty, and of course, our refund policy change, which is we will split the return shipping with you, awesome, and as soon as I have the guts to do it, we’ll pay for all the return shipping. I don’t have the guts to do that yet, but and really, it’s all about, you know, guts, and doing what I can stomach, and handle, and I’m not quite ready, I’m not quite there yet. But the 50% split on the return shipping – plus we do it through our shipper, so we – that cuts the shipping cost down, like for example, if you were going to ship a chair, we had a guy that just returned a Panasonic chair, an MA73, from Florida, to our showroom here. It was like $900, unbelievable, I think that that’s like through UPS, or one of the big companies. Well, we got a price of $356, or something like that, so like it saved $600, plus he only pays for half, so he’s $158, and that’s all he’s out for return shipping. So, we’ve got the best return policy in the business, duh. 90 days, nobody else does 90 days. We do no restocking, or handling fees, everybody else charges restocking fees. We pay for half the return shipping, everybody else has you pay for full shipping, and the only thing that we take off the refund is the credit card processing fees, because I got to pay that, whether you keep the chair, or return the chair, I got to pay those 3%, to 3.5%, to whatever %, and that’s the only thing. So, doggone it, we got the best return policy in the business. I mean, and between that and the Lifetime Labor, plus you know, knowing that we’ve been around for 10.5 years, and you know who we are. Duh, it’s a no brainer to buy – and plus we’ll price match, hello, you know – it’s kind of a no brainer to buy from us. So, anyway, if you have any questions about any of this stuff, give us a call, and again, there’s the number, 888-259-5380. Well, that about does it for this week. I hope you have a fantastic Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year, holidays, everything, I just hope it’s a wonderful time of the year for you, and I hope that there’s no – I hope there’s a minimum of tragedy, and sadness, and heartbreak, and warfare, and violence – I just hope that it can truly be peace on earth for at least a brief period of time, so that you know, we can just enjoy the spirit of this season, and it is a wonderful time of the year, and it’s just fabulous. We just got dumped on, in snow, here in Utah, we got like 6 inches overnight, and you know, that night, we were up until midnight, making a snow ramp, out back, in the backyard, off of the deck, a snow ramp, for the kids. We were up until midnight, making this, and then, we just kind of sat out there, with the snow falling down. It was no wind, it was still as can be, it was beautiful, it was – there was something, I don’t know, surreal about it, and almost cathartic – it felt so good being out there, and you could just feel something just beautiful being out there. And it may be the weather, it may be the spirit of the season, it may be the – I don’t know what it is – well, maybe I do know what it is, but anyway, whatever it is for you, I hope that this season is spectacular, and peaceful, and joyful. And if you’re going through heartache, and trial, and tragedy, and difficult times, I just would hope that you could just have some peace, and some comfort, in some measure, during this time of the year. Anyway, if you found this video helpful, please feel free to thumbs up ‘Like’ us on YouTube, share us on your social media platforms to help us spread the word about massage chairs. But I will see you again in two weeks, but until then, have a fantastic holiday season, and I look forward to seeing you in two weeks from now. I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com,’ take care. Bye bye.
