Massage Chair Industry Update – April 5, 2016 (Video)

Transcript of Video Titled “Massage Chair Industry Update – April 5, 2016”

microphoneAlan: Hi, this is Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com’ and today is our biweekly massage chair industry update for Tuesday, April 5th, 2016. Let’s get right in to stock status.

[SCREEN TEXT: Stock Status]

Alan: As far as I know, pretty much everything is in pretty good stock right now. The black on black Iyashi, Infinity Iyashi, is back-ordered until later this week, so that’s as good as done. The Titan Executive, that’s the chair that’s going to be back-ordered for a while. It was supposed to be here this month, April, but it’s been postponed until May, middle of May. And we have one particular customer that’s already been waiting for the April back-order shipment to arrive, and now he’s got to wait another month. So, we’re kind of disappointed in that, but anyway, the long and short of it is, if you want a ‘Black’ or ‘Brown’ Titan Executive, you’ll have to wait until May, but order now, just to make sure one of the chairs that come in on the shipment. They do have some ‘Beige’ available, but last I heard yesterday was that they only had four available, so it’s not like they’ve got a ton.

Alan: Anyway, so back-order, I think the DreamWave, and the Inada chairs are good, Human Touch is good – oh, speaking of Human Touch, they have decided not to have the Human Touch Bali, or the HT-7120, on the website anymore, so – or on their online distributors anymore. So, we had to take that down off of our website.

[SCREEN TEXT: HT-Bali Floor Model for Sale $3200]

Alan: Well, unfortunately, or fortunately, it depends on how you look at it, I’ve got an HT-Bali, a ‘Black’ one, here in my showroom. Not much used at all, in very, very good shape, looks like new, and it’s the Bali, ‘Black’ HT-Bali, and I’m selling that for $3200. So, they’re regularly $4999, I’ve got to sell this, because I can’t – it does me no good to have it in the showroom if I’ve got to sell – if I can’t even sell the darn things. So, if you’re interested in an HT-Bali, give me a call at – call me on my toll-free number, 888-2 – well, you know what? Call me at the showroom, because the guys in the California showroom aren’t aware that I have this chair for sale at this juncture. So, give me a call at the Utah showroom, 801-417-8240, 417-8240, and I will get that chair shipped out to you if you’d like it, good chair. The Bali, HT-Bali, that’s kind of their top of the line Human Touch chair, it’s a very, very nice chair.

[SCREEN TEXT: Infinity IT-8500X3]

Alan: Anyway, so those are no more in stock, but Infinity now has their IT-8500X3 in stock, and we just added that, last week, to the website. We sold four last week; it’s a popular chair. It’s like the IT-8500, which is our top selling Chinese chair anyway, but it also has now the 3D rollers, and it has a neck extension roller feature, and it has a more streamlined remote. It looks a lot like the Iyashi remote, and it also has Bluetooth technology, so you can play your music right off of your phone, just by hooking, you know, syncing with your Bluetooth. So, that’s the IT-8500, or IT-8500X3, which is selling for $5495. Let’s see what else we got cooking.

[SCREEN TEXT: Ogawa Smart 3D Massage Chair]

Alan: Oh, speaking of new models, Ogawa has their new model, called the Ogawa Smart 3D, and this chair, I read through the features, it looks pretty doggone cool, I like it, on paper. It’s expensive, it’s $6999 pricing, and so it’s not a cheap thing, but I’m very interested in – I wrote about this on my blog, earlier this, or last week, I wrote about these new models, you know, the Infinity Escape – or sorry, the infinity IT-8500X3, the Infinity Evoke, and the Ogawa Smart 3D, well, I’ve got some features here I’ll share with you. It sounds pretty cool, and I wrote about this on my blog post, because the features are interesting, and I don’t know, you know, you never know if it justifies the price until you sit in the darn thing, and I don’t have one here to sit on. We’ll probably get one in our California showroom, but anyway, here’s the thing. Here’s the feature list, based on what they’ve told me, full control through the Ogawa app, so it comes preinstalled on a Samsung Android tablet. So, it looks like they include a tablet with it, and it has the app to operate the chair from the tablet. It has 3D massage, with five strength settings, it has a 3D body scan – and they make it sound very sophisticated – but it maps the user’s biometric profile, and uses micro adjustments throughout the massage. Now, that sounds fancy, I don’t know what that means, but it ‘measures my biometric profile,’ so that’s got to be good, whatever that is, it’s got to be good; a patented Smart Sense technology that controls the PSI, the pounds per square inch, in the ottoman airbags, and the length adjustments. I think that’s pretty smart, because some people sit in a massage chair, and the airbags are just too intense, like that Apex Ultra, or the Titan 8400. Man, those, you know, the feet airbags, on some people, it just squishes too much, and it’s painful. Well, it’d be kind of cool if it has like this little PSI sensor to tell you – you know, maybe adjust the sensor – adjust the PSI, in each airbag, if it’s going a little too heavy. Updatable massage programming, I suspect that means custom, you know, manual programs; self-diagnosis, sorry, self-diagnostics, for a rapid repair process, don’t know what that means, but that sounds cool. Quick-touch user controls on the armrest; unlimited user profiles, and memory settings, that’s cool, because a lot of the chairs don’t have memory settings, so you cannot memorize a program that you really like. On this one you can, which is a good thing; interactive try-me video, to take a user through a visual, and sensual – sensual, hmm, well, it says sensual, that should be a good one – demonstration of the chair. Anyway, maybe sensual has a double meaning that I’m completely missing, because my mind’s in the gutter, I don’t know, but anyway, an interactive try-me video, so it’s probably on the remote control, I would suspect. It has 17 automatic programs, which is significant, that’s quite a few. As a matter of fact, that’s more than most other chairs, except for maybe the Human Touch Navitas Sleep, which has 36, no less. Custom massage programs designed for each individual user profile, OK; Samsung tablet, Samsung tablet is Wi-Fi enabled, and can be used as a personal computer, and a patented air suspension insulated frame makes the Ogawa Smart 3D one of the world’s quietest massage chairs. Now, that’s kind of cool too, I’d like to see how that feels. Right now, the quietest chair that I’m aware of is the Luraco iRobotics 7. So, if this one’s quieter than that, right on, you should be able to fall asleep in no time, and be sawing logs in your living room, or bedroom, on the chair.

[SCREEN TEXT: No More Instant Savings on Ogawa Chairs]

Alan: You know what? I think that is actually it for this week. Yeah, I think that’s about it for this week. Oh, oh no, it’s not. Speaking of Ogawa, they asked us to remove the instant savings on the Refresh, and the Ogawa Active. So, whereas the Ogawa Refresh had a $400 off instant savings before, and the chair was $2399 now, and then you could get it for $1999, now there’s no instant savings, so it’s $2399. And the Ogawa Active was $4999 with a $500 instant savings, to bring it down to $4499, they’ve gotten rid of that, and now the Active is $4999. So, that’s good to know if you’re interested in those chairs. Well, that about does it this week for our massage chair industry update. If any of you have any questions, of course, you can always feel free to give me a call at the toll-free number. Oh, and well, there is the toll-free number, I do that every week, but there’s your toll-free number, 888-259-5380.
