Massage Chair Industry Update – 11/21/13

Transcript of Video Titled “Massage Chair Industry Update – November 21, 2013”

news micAlan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today is our biweekly massage chair industry update, and for today it’s November 21st, 2013. We are now fast approaching the holiday season, and this is the time of the year when chair stocks of available colors and models start to diminish quite quickly.

[SCREEN TEXT: Order Now to Beat the Holiday Rush!]

Alan: So, as usual, I recommend that for the Christmas rush, you go ahead and order now. Try to prevent waiting until the last minute because your selection will be very, very weak, in many of the massage chair companies’ inventories. So anyway, it’s good to see you again, we’ve got, of course once again, lots of good things to talk about.

[SCREEN TEXT: Stock Status]

Alan: Let’s talk about stock, first of all, most of the companies have really good stock right now on all their chairs. Some are a little bit low, but most of them, like Sogno, or sorry, Inada, and like, Human Touch, Panasonic, Infinite Therapeutics, Omega, Cozzia, from what I understand, all their stocks are good. Osaki is low on stock on a couple of things. The ‘Brown’ OS-4000 is back-ordered, and it was supposed to come in on the 14th, but it looks like it’s not going to be here until next Monday or Tuesday. The 7200H in ‘Brown’ is back-ordered, and there’s no estimated time of arrival for that one, and the Pro Dreamer ‘Brown’ is back-ordered for another week. The Cyber is very low, the Pro Cyber, and we’ve found this chair to be quite a successful and top-selling chair, and I can see that the inventory is reflecting that. They’re very low in ‘Brown’ and in ‘Red,’ and they expect that inventory to be replenished in late December and early January, a late December, early January time frame. All the other colors, of those models, and all the other models, there’s good stock, and you should be OK, prior to the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend. At that point, things get a little sketchy, and you never quite know what’s going to be available, and it’s kind of a crap shoot, at that point, to see if you can get what you want for Christmas. So anyway, order now if you’re able to do it, and take advantage of it.

[SCREEN TEXT: 18 Months Financing Available From GE Capital Until Dec. 3]

Alan: GE Capital is offering us the opportunity to offer 18 months financing between November 20th and December 3rd, so if you are interested – and this might motivate you to take advantage now, of getting a chair before the Christmas rush – but you can get 18 months. We usually don’t offer that because GE charges us, as do the credit cards, a processing fee, a percentage of our purchase price, that we have to pay to them for the privilege of using their service. So, for example – for Visa, MasterCard, and Discover, it’s typically around 3%, American Express around 3.5%, GE Capital is anywhere from 3 to 5% on 6 or 12-month interest free terms, respectively – but now they’re offering the 18-month plan for between 5 and 6%, and it’s usually 9%, so for us, it’s affordable to do that for you during this Christmas season while they’re offering this. So, we have 6, 12, and 18-month plans available until December 3rd, then it’s back to 6 and 12 months. Of course, you can always still pay with Paypal, their ‘Bill Me Later’ program, which is a 6-month, no interest, no payment program.

[SCREEN TEXT: Make-A-Wish and Massage-Chair-Relief!]

Alan: OK, so the first thing I want to talk about is the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Now, I talked about this on the tail end of my last update, which was a long one, and we broke it up in to two parts, I’ll try to keep it shorter this week, and I apologize for that. Anyway, as you may or not know, we are partnering up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation from here on out, not just for the holiday season, even though we launched it on November 1st, this is from here on out. We will be contributing, or donating, a portion of every massage chair sale to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We are, our objective right now is to earn $7500. Right now, I think we’re at around $500, maybe a little bit more, I’m not quite sure, but around $500, and our goal is to hit $7500 within a year. Of course, as the business grows, and as we sell more chairs, we will be able to set higher goals, maybe $10,000, maybe higher than that, but the objective is for every bit of these dollars to go toward making a wish come true for a Make-A-Wish child.

[SCREEN TEXT: www.Massage-Chair-Relief.com/Make-A-Wish.html]

Alan: Right now, at this time, our child is Samantha – and if you go on our website, and I’ll put the website address up here, of the Make-A-Wish page, on our website – you can link to our official Make-A-Wish page on the Make-A-Wish.com website, and read about Samantha, and see her story. It’s just dear, and it’s wonderful, and it’s very, very close to my heart, these children. I have six of my own, as I mentioned, and I have a growing brood of grandchildren, currently four, and you know, kids mean a lot to me, I love kids, and I’m very protective of kids. I just love being a dad, I love being a grandpa, it’s even easier, but I love children, and so the Make-A-Wish Foundation for us was a logical step. We sponsored a child when I still had my chiropractic office, maybe six, seven, eight years ago, we did the same, and that wonderful child was blessed by our contribution, and she went to Disney World, and came back a completely different person. It was miraculous, it was really miraculous, and she went to Disney World, which is one of the most common wishes of most of these children.

[SCREEN TEXT: A Portion of Every Sale Goes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation]

Alan: Anyway, what I’m basically telling you is that we will be contributing a portion of your chair purchase to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and as soon as the purchase is made, we contribute to our Make-A-Wish Foundation pool. If you want to donate some on your own, more, aside from what we’re donating in your name so to speak, you can go to our website and click on the link to the page, and donate. You can donate whatever you want, any amount, but we would appreciate if you could support us in this, and of course, again, it’s a wonderful cause. Feel free to call me, or call the Make-A-Wish Foundation if you have any questions, or you’re not sure if we’re just doing some kind of a scam, which I’m not, but I understand there’s distrust out there, but please feel free to call the Make-A-Wish Foundation or contact them, or contact us if you want more details.

[SCREEN TEXT: Osaki OS-3D Pro Cyber Review]

Alan: OK now, let’s see, I wrote a great review on the Cyber, on the new Osaki OS-3D Pro Cyber, and I really like this chair, it’s a sister chair to the Pro Dreamer, but there’s a few features I like better about it, like when you’re in the stretch program, my feet would come out of the foot massager of the Dreamer, it wouldn’t on the Cyber, and I like that. The price, of course, is a little less, but go, you can read my entire review on the Cyber. I will also be writing a review, over the next week, comparing the Cyber to the Dreamer, a more comprehensive review – even though I have a little, small review at the tail end of that Cyber review, a comparative review, at the tail end of the Cyber review – but go ahead and check out that article.

[SCREEN TEXT: Luraco Engineers Interview]

Alan: Also, I’ve posted the Luraco, my Luraco interviews, on my blog as well, it’s a three part interview with the engineers at Luraco, who bring us the iRobotics 6S chair, great interview, great guys, and we covered a lot of good stuff. We talked about stuff that we don’t talk about with other companies, because Luraco manufactures a good portion of the chair’s – well, all of electronic components there at their office in Arlington, Texas – and they assemble the whole thing there as well, and test everything right there. Most other companies do in China, or Japan, or Taiwan, and now, we have this company that does it here, so it’s a good interview, we talk about things we ordinarily wouldn’t talk about with other companies, so check it out, you can check it out on our blog or on YouTube.

[SCREEN TEXT: Infinity IT-8100 Review to Come!]

Alan: Also, as I mentioned, we received the new Osaki OS-3D Pro Dreamer, or Pro Cyber – well, and Pro Dreamer – but Pro Cyber in our showroom, and that same week, we also got the Infinity IT-8100. I’ve only sat on it a couple of times, and I have a very, very cursory feel for it, but I’m going to be sitting on it next week, and doing a thorough review of the IT-8100, which is a lower price point chair, massage chair, with mechanical foot rollers, and zero gravity, and arm airbags. It’s got a lot of nice features for the price point, but I will have something about that up and coming in the next little while.

[SCREEN TEXT: 2 Year Parts & Labor Warranty with Osaki OS-3D Pro Dreamer]

Alan: The OS-3D Pro Dreamer, Osaki is offering a two-year, parts-and-labor warranty, in home, for that chair, at the purchase price, so you don’t have to buy an extended two-year warranty. You can buy an extended one-year warranty, above and beyond that, but by default, and coming with the chair – and this is the only chair that Osaki carries where they do this – you can get the two-year, parts-and-labor warranty, in home, and that is a nice offer from Osaki.

[SCREEN TEXT: Osaki OS-4000 has 2 Year Parts & Labor Warranty Until Dec. 3]

Alan: I might also mention that Osaki has, until the end of the year – no, no, no, until the end of Cyber Monday – they’re offering an extra year of warranty on the OS-4000 as well. Now, remember the OS-4000 is back-ordered for another week in the ‘Brown’ color, but all other colors are there. They’re offering an additional one year of warranty, so it’ll have the same warranty as the OS-3D Pro Dreamer, but only until Cyber Monday, so if you want to jump on that train, get it. It will not be on the website, the additional year of warranty, but we will include that for you on every purchase, so we have, at our end, we’ve got it taken care of.

[SCREEN TEXT: Wood Grain Accents on the OS-3D Pro Dreamer]

Alan: Oh, another thing about the OS-3D Pro Dreamer, I thought you might like to know, I had some pictures sent to me by Chris over at Osaki. The original pictures of the Pro Dreamer have the outer frame looking exactly like the old 6000, 7200H, and the 7200CR, and it has that, the silver striping on the chair. On the Dreamer, it’s up on the shoulder housing, also, on the side of the chair. Well, apparently that has been changed to a wood grain finish, and so when you order the Dreamer, just know that you’re going to have the wood grain finish. I will be posting those images on our website, and on the blog, we’ll put the pictures up, but just be aware that when you order the Pro Dreamer, you’re going to get wood grain stripes, not the silver stripes, it’s a very nice look. It actually enhances the classiness of the chair, wood grain typically does that, but anyway, I want you to just be aware that when you’re ordering that, you’re getting the wood grain face, the wood grain stripes. Osaki does not have full chair images of that yet, they just have like, little pictures taken at their warehouse, in Texas.

[SCREEN TEXT: New Johnson Wellness Chairs Now on Our Website]

Alan: Alright well, you know, we’ve got this, we’re carrying this new line of chairs, the Johnson chairs, my web guy finally got the category up last night on our website, so you can go and see, at least the category, and he’s got the first chair up, the J6800, which we now have in our showroom. I just set it up last night, pretty easy, except for putting in the screws on the side panels, it’s a little bit of a frustration thing for someone like me who’s completely useless with a hammer and nail. Of course, I didn’t use a hammer and nail on that, I used a screwdriver, so I’m even more worthless with that.

[SCREEN TEXT: Taiwanese-Made Plus 3 Year Parts & Labor Warranty]

Alan: Anyway, we’re now carrying the Johnson Wellness chairs, and the thing I love about these chairs is that, number one, they’re made in Taiwan, and they are, they have a three-year, parts-and-labor, in-home warranty, so they have the same warranty as the Inada and the Panasonic chairs, so that speaks volumes to me of the kind of faith and credibility they have in their chair. So, I sat on it last night briefly – just before I came home, because I’d been out quite late working on this chair, and I got it set up – but I sat on it a little bit, and the feel of the rollers is fantastic. Now, it has a 3D roller mechanism that moves from back to front, five inches, that’s significant. When you turn it on, it defaults to the third position, and every position represents an inch, so on inch number three is where it defaults to, but you can raise it two more, or lower it two more, and the feel of that chair is wonderful. So, I called Nick Breese, who’s the guy that is their national sales guy for the chairs, and I asked, we talked a little bit about the chair, and he said that they’ve got people – there at the factory there in Taiwan – have hired people that used to work for Fujiiryoki and Inada, two of the oldest massage chair companies in the world.

[SCREEN TEXT: Review of Johnson J6800 Forthcoming!]

Alan: They have – and I’ll tell you, the back massage on that chair is very, very nice, I really like it – the price point on that chair is $4999, after $1000 instant savings, but I’m really looking forward to do a review on that, so I’ll do a review on that chair as well. Of course, with all the chairs I’ve talked about, the Cyber, the 8100, and this new Johnson 6800, we will do video reviews. I’ve already done a bunch of videos on the Cyber, those will start coming out next week, and we will do the 8100, and of course, the Johnson chair, and we’re doing more on the Panasonic EP-30007. We’ll be doing some on the Pro Dreamer, we’ve already done a couple on the Pro Dreamer, we’ll do more. So, there’s lots of new chairs, lots of new things coming out, lots of new inventory, and I will do reviews for you, don’t worry, we will keep you educated about these chairs. Anyway, I’m kind of excited about the Johnson chairs, to see how they work, and what the response is, I think it’s going to be very favorable, the price point is pretty good, the feature set may not be as crazy, or rich, as some of the Chinese-made chairs, but the quality, I feel that the quality in these chairs is fantastic, and it’ll be well worth the money spent, plus you’ve got a three-year warranty.

[SCREEN TEXT: New Human Touch Model: AcuTouch 8.0]

Alan: AcuTouch is, or sorry, Human Touch has come out with a new model – or they’re coming out with a new model – called the AcuTouch 8. Now, the AcuTouch 6 is the chair that they sell through Costco, and it’s a decent chair from what I understand, I’ve never sat on it, I’ve had feedback about it. Again, most of the Human Touch chairs are nicely built chairs, but not as feature rich as some of the other current Chinese-made chairs, but this AcuTouch 6 has been fairly popular at Costco. Well, they’re coming out with an AcuTouch 8, which is an even a more loaded chair. Now, they don’t have the price point yet, and they won’t let me put it on my website, or talk about it too much yet, because it’s still going through testing, and it’s not really here in the market yet, but it is on their website, and that’s why I inquired of them about it, if this was a chair that I could sell. It looks like an AcuTouch 6 on steroids, so I will let you know as I learn more about that, but I just thought I’d give you a heads up.

[SCREEN TEXT: Black Friday/Cyber Monday Sale Going On Now!!]

Alan: Oh, and as you know, Black Friday’s coming up next week, you can call us now, and we will be honoring Black Friday sales.

[SCREEN TEXT: 888-259-5380]

Alan: I can’t advertise what we do, because the massage chair companies don’t like it when we discount their chairs in public, but on the phone, give us a call, we will – I can tell you right now that in addition to all the sales that we have on our website, we have an additional sale on top of all those price discounts that you see on the website, for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and that whole Thanksgiving weekend – so give us a call at 888-259-5380, and we can go over the pricing with you, and give you the specials.

Again, it’s Black Friday, man, Cyber Monday, Thanksgiving, holiday season, this is the busiest time of the year for massage chair retailers, and people buy these things like crazy as gifts. Just be aware that if you order now, you’ll avoid the rush, there’s lots of stock available in all the chair models, but that will change after Black Friday, trust me, and some of the colors will not be around. Even if a chair is back-ordered, like the Iyashi – oh, I forgot to mention the Iyashi is still back-ordered on the ‘Caramel Tan’ and the ‘Black,’ the new black interior color – not the exterior, the exterior is still white. Those chairs are back-ordered until December 6th, but if you want them, order them now, because that shipment will probably be spoken for, when that order finally comes in on December 6th. So, order now, don’t wait until December 6th and say ‘Well, I’ll just wait until they’re in stock.’ Mark my words, from my experience with new models that are very, very popular, like the Sogno when it came out, even still, like this Iyashi, like the Cyber, when stock is gone, order while they’re waiting for the back-order, get your name in on that queue, so you’re in the list to get yourself one of those chairs.

Anyway, I think that’s about it for this week, we’ve kept it down, down to our regular, a more regular extended period of time, but thank you so much for visiting with us today. I appreciate everybody who takes the time to watch these videos, watch our review videos, watch our interview videos, read our blog posts, the whole objective of this site is to be the ultimate massage chair resource for people who are looking for chairs. We try to be as objective as possible, I do not sell a chair based on price or profit, I sell a chair based on what you need. So, if you have back pain, and you have neck pain, and you have headaches, or whatever, and you want a chair to fit in a particular room, and you don’t want arm airbags, or you don’t want this, I’m not going to push you in to a chair that has all those things, or has things that you don’t want, just because I make more money on it. We will give you the chair, that is the best chair for you, based on what you explain are your needs, I’m not going to push you in to a $5000 chair, if your budget’s $3000. We will make it work, there are chairs in every price point, and there’s chairs with all sorts of features that will make everybody happy at one point or another, even though I wish – and I talked about this in a blog post a few months ago – I wish we could create the perfect a la carte massage chair, where you could just say ‘I want airbags on the arms, I want foot rollers, I don’t want, you know, whatever, I want the 3D massage, I want a remote control that works like this, and I don’t want, you know, airbags that do that,’ or whatever. So well, we can’t do that yet, we’re not at that point, and I don’t know if we ever will be, but we try to cater, find you the perfect massage chair for you. So, the website is a resource for you, to help you find that perfect chair for you and your family. Anyway, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com.’ This has been our biweekly massage chair industry update, we will see you in two weeks again, with another update, and in the meantime, please feel free to share us, ‘Like’ us, tweet us, Google Plus us, ‘+1’ us, whatever, if you want to help us spread the word about massage chairs, and help massage chairs become a more deeply entrenched staple in the health psyche of the American public. It’s not there, it’s not even close, it’s just scratching the surface, compared to what is going on in Asia with massage chairs, but please feel free to help us spread the word, and subscribe to our YouTube channel. That way, you can be updated on subsequent interviews, subsequent massage reviews, massage chair reviews, subsequent industry updates, subsequent anything that I’m doing, and I’m always up to something. We’ve got a lot of things in the works to make this site better, and help grow the massage chair industry.

[SCREEN TEXT: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!]
