Transcript of Video Titled ” Massage Chair Industry Update – September 25, 2013″
Alan: Good morning, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘Massage-Chair-Relief.com‘ and today we are doing our biweekly massage chair industry update for today, September 25th. You’ll have to excuse me, I’ve got allergies this morning so my nose sounds a little plugged and kind of a little congested. Let’s get on with the update.
[SCREEN TEXT: Stock Status]
Alan: As far as stock status goes, first of all, the Osaki 7075R is back-ordered for two weeks in the ‘Brown,’ the ‘Taupe,’ and the ‘Ivory.’ The ‘Brown’ and ‘Taupe’ IT-8200 from Infinite Therapeutics is also back-ordered two weeks, and the ‘Black’ leather Sogno is back-ordered until October 6th, but everything else seems to be in stock, which is a good thing. I know that the companies are stocking up for the new, for this fourth quarter and the holiday season. So, we suspect that there will be plenty of chairs available.
[SCREEN TEXT: Order Early for Christmas!!]
Alan: I will warn you, when it comes to Christmas and that time of the year, the stock goes fast so every massage chair company stocks up, but invariably, they run out of one color or one model or another, so heads for you on that. Make sure that you order early. That’s the best remedy to any kind of stock, order, or status issue is to order ahead of time, and make sure that you get your chair ahead of time. OK, we’ve got some good stuff to go over, this week, with you. First of all, and I may have talked about this in the last one, but I want to go in to it in a little bit more detail.
[SCREEN TEXT: Lots of New Osaki Massage Chair Models]
Alan: You know, Osaki’s been going crazy with new models. They came out with the 7200CR, the OS-3D Pro Dreamer, which I’ve talked about in previous videos, and in articles on my website. They also have come out with the 2000 Combo, which is a low-price chair, I think I mentioned that also in another video.
[SCREEN TEXT: Osaki OS-2000 Combo]
Alan: The Osaki OS-2000 Combo is a very simple chair, nothing fancy, foot and calf massage, seat rollers, or seat massage rollers, in the back, and priced at under $2000. It has a 31-inch roller track, which is a good length, a good length roller track.
[SCREEN TEXT: Osaki OS-Pro Marquis]
Alan: Now, they’ve also come out with the Inada or the, sorry, the Osaki OS-Pro Dreamer, or sorry, Pro Marquis, which is a chair that looks a lot like the 7075. It comes from the same factory, the body design looks very similar, and the thing of note about that is that it has a portable heating pad that’ll go around – and you can put it anywhere on the body, on the front of the body – and it’ll give you heat. If you want to put it on your forehead, if you want to put it on your chest, or on your stomach, or on your thighs, the heating pad is portable, and so you can put it anywhere you need it.
[SCREEN TEXT: Osaki OS-3D Pro Intelligent]
Alan: Also, the Osaki company has come out with the OS-3D Pro Intelligent, which is a chair that when it’s – when everything is retracted and parked in the chair – it looks like a regular recliner. It has a retractable ottoman that has, when it unfolds, partially unfolds, it’s got a soft – OK, what you can do is you can open up the ottoman, and before folding it out so the foot and calf massage wells are showing up, when the calf wells are still showing down – there is a soft linen material facing up at the bottom of the ottoman, and you can put your calves on there and have the rollers work on your calves there. Then, when you unfold the ottoman altogether and put your feet in there, those same rollers that massaged your calves when it wasn’t fully deployed, now massage your feet. So, that’s kind of cool, I’ve never seen that before, and also with this chair, which is kind of neat, it has armrests that hide the arm airbag massagers. So, you push the button, and up pops these armrests, and you can put your arms in there and the airbags will massage your arms, and when you’re done, you push the button, and then they’ll retract and hide in to the armrests of the chair, very cool, they’re nice chairs.
[SCREEN TEXT: Osaki OS-3D Pro Dreamer Coming to our Showroom This Week]
Alan: We are getting the OS-3D Pro Dreamer, this week, in our showroom. I’ve had a number of people already ask me for reviews on it. I will give you my reviews on it with my own little kind of bent and twist on it, on these videos, and I’ll also be writing about it in my blog, so stay tuned for that. That should here this week, and hopefully we have it assembled, and we’ll start recording next week. Also, I have room for another chair, we may be bringing in the Osaki, the Intelligent chair, I’m not sure, we’ll see where that goes.
[SCREEN TEXT: New Infinity Iyashi Videos]
Alan: OK also, oh speaking of videos, I have put more videos up on YouTube regarding the Iyashi. The Iyashi is this new chair from Infinite Therapeutics that has the 49-inch roller track. I’m just crazy about it, I love that feature about that chair. We’ve been making videos on that and we’re posting them on YouTube about once a week. You can check out those videos to learn more about the Iyashi, great chair, I really like it.
[SCREEN TEXT: $2000 Off on iRobotics 6S!]
Alan: Let’s see, the Luraco company, with regard to their iRobotics chair, they have come out with a price drop of a couple thousand dollars. The price is down to $5990 until Cyber Monday, which is the, of course, the online shopping date after Thanksgiving – Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it’s a huge shopping weekend, as everybody knows, but what a lot of people don’t know is that – Black Friday is the Friday when most people go to the stores, you know, your local stores, people wait, go there at four in the morning, three in the morning, waiting for specials. Well, Cyber Monday is the following Monday, and that is the day that is allegedly the top online retailing day of the year, and of course, we like that time, we usually have a bit of a sale at that time of the year. I will mention that, again, Luraco has that price drop until, to $5990 from $7990, until the end of Cyber Monday.
[SCREEN TEXT: UL Certification for Luraco Chairs]
Alan: Also, I received notification from Luraco this week that they received UL certification, which is a certification by a U.S. company, and you see it on all kinds of electronics, this is not something that – it would not be unfamiliar to you if you looked at the back of electronics, gadgets, and whatnot – but a UL certification is a certification and an affirmation that a company has created a product that is in line with standards and regulations of a particular industry, or a particular protocol, and Luraco has done that with their iRobotics chair. I don’t think I’ve ever seen another chair that, a massage chair that’s done that for the U.S, so that’s an interesting certification, it helps lend some credibility to the chair and to the company.
[SCREEN TEXT: www.massage-chair-relief.com/blog/]
Alan: I might also mention that I’ve written a couple of blog posts recently. I’ve reviewed the Luraco warranty, I did my, it’s part six of my ‘Fine Toothed Comb Warranty Review’ series.
[SCREEN TEXT: Top 5 Massage Chair Industry Surprises for 2013 (so far!)]
Alan: Also, I wrote an article last week, I’ve been thinking about all the neat things that have happening in the massage chair industry, this has been a busy year for the massage chair – new companies, new massage chairs, lots of things that kind of took me by surprise – anyway, I wrote down my top 5 surprises in the massage chair industry this year, so far, who knows what’ll happen before the end of the year, maybe I’ll have to do another ‘Top 5.’ Anyway, check out the blog and you can read the latest and greatest surprises that I have found in the massage chair industry over the last, since the first of the year. Then, another thing of note, I was very curious to hear this, you know, reviews are a huge part of my website – I’ve got a lot of people that write reviews about me, about my business, about the chairs they buy, about the industry, about the company that imported the chairs that people have purchased – and these reviews are priceless, because it helps you, the consumer know, you know, maybe from an objective third-party vantage point, you know, if a chair is right for you, or if a company is right for you, and so they’re very, very valuable. I mean, I look at reviews all the time on Amazon and on other websites, I’m always looking for reviews to hear what people’s opinions are.
[SCREEN TEXT: Fake Reviews Crackdown!!]
Alan: Well, New York State came down with a ruling just this last week, where if you have fake reviews on your website – and this is online, not offline, these are online reviews – if you have fake online reviews, you will get fined to as much as $300,000. Of course, a lot of industry watchers are hoping that this will go, this type of ruling and regulation, will occur in other states as well, but I understand that. I understand what they’re trying to do because I have read reviews, and you just sense that they’re not genuine. I mean, they even gave an example of one company, which was a big company, a well-known company across the country, who was getting bashed on reviews online, and so the president asked everybody in the company to go online, and put out a review, a raving review, about their company and they did. Well, they got busted and they’ve been fined quite a bit of money for this, I guess you could call it just cheating. So, you know, make sure that you’re reading a website, reading on a website that has – if you’re reading reviews, make sure that they’re legitimate reviews, there are some ways that you can tell if they’re legitimate or not, if they’re – we try to have the person’s full name, we ask our people that make a review to pull their full name on there, and even their state and city, if they’re open to doing that. If, you know, sometimes you’ll see websites that’ll say ‘Bob S.’ or ‘Mary L,’ sometimes those are questionable, so you don’t know for sure if they’re legit, but hopefully the website that you’re shopping has got a way to legitimize those, and make sure that they’re genuine. We do that, our website has a software that requests – that people can put their comments on, and their reviews – and I can’t edit them at all, so when they come up, I have approve them or disapprove them. The only ones that I’ve ever disapproved, I think it’s been two, it’s been someone that’s either, you know, one was a spam where it was just a, you know, a bunch of links for nothing and then the other one was just someone dropping a whole bunch of swear words on my review site, and it had nothing to do with massage chairs, so we deleted those. All the rest are, as you see them, is exactly how they were written, and you can tell, some of them are written in poor English, some of them are very elaborate, and very in-depth, and comprehensive. Anyway, that is the deal with reviews, so I thought that was kind of interesting, so you know, it kind of makes you think. Well, it’s important to know that not everything you read online is genuine, and some of it’s propped up and a little fake.
[SCREEN TEXT: Used Panasonic 30007 – $3599]
Alan: I’ve got a couple of massage chairs for sale that are used – I’ve got a used Panasonic MA, or sorry, EP 30007, regularly $3999, I’ve got it on sale for $3599 – it’s only a month old, it’s a ‘Black’ one, they’re all ‘Black.’
[SCREEN TEXT: Infinity IT-8500 (Brown) – $3295]
Alan: I’ve got an IT-8500 that was returned by a fellow that didn’t want to pay for return shipping. So, he drove his SUV with a U-Haul trailer attached to the back 16 hours from Brownsville, Texas to my showroom in Salt Lake City, and I went Monday morning to work at 9 o’clock, and there he was waiting for me with the chair to return it. Anyway, that chair has been returned, both of them are in perfect, pristine condition.
[SCREEN TEXT: 888-259-5380]
