Mail Bag – Best Spa Chair; Calf Rollers; OS-3000 vs. HT-7120

emailEMAIL QUESTION #1
I would like to know what brand and model you would recommend for a commercial use at our wellness spa!? Kind regards Karl

MY RESPONSE #1
Hi, Karl
Thank you for your email. Great question. We sell quite a few massage chairs to spas and from my experience, there a few things to consider:

1. Quality of chair – the Chinese-made chairs have a higher failure rate and shorter warranty, but they are cheaper to buy. The Japanese chairs have a longer warranty and last a lot longer, but there are less choices to pick from.

2. Massage roller intensity – in some situations it is good to have a chair that has a roller intensity adjustment so that you can adjust the chair’s roller intensity up or down for those who want a vigorous massage and for those who want a gentle massage, respectively.

3. Body and height considerations – some chairs cater to folks who are up to 6’5″ in length, others only for folks 6′ or shorter. Most chairs are not designed to regularly handle folks who weigh over 285 – 300 lbs.

4. Foot massage mechanism – some spas don’t want a foot massage mechanism so that their customers can leave their shoes on during their massage session.

Here are some models that have been used in the past for settings similar to yours:

Panasonic MA73

Panasonic MA73

a.) Panasonic MA70/MA73 – Japanese made, 3 years parts and labor warranty, roller intensity adjustment, foot massage but a rotating ottoman to hide the foot and calf massaging mechanism, can handle up to 6’2″ and 265 lbs.

b.) Osaki OS-4000T – Chinese made, 1 year parts and labor warranty, foot massage, can handle up to 6’4″ and 265 lbs. No roller intensity adjustment.

c.) Osaki OS-3D Pro Dreamer – Chinese made, 2 years parts and labor warranty, roller intensity adjustment, foot massage, can handle up to 6’5″ and 265 lbs.

d.) Infinity IT-8500 – Chinese made, 1 year parts and labor warranty, foot massage can handle up to 6’5″ and 300 lbs. No roller intensity adjustment.

e.) Human Touch HT-7120 – Chinese made, 1 year parts and labor warranty, roller intensity adjustment, no foot massage PLUS a rotating ottoman, can handle up to 6’4″ and 285 lbs.

EMAIL QUESTION #2

I’m in the market for a zero gravity massage chair. I’ve had my fair share of trying many of them across Asia whether Panasonic, OSIM, etc. I’m looking for one with a calf massager using rollers and also an IT band massage with Rollers (if it exists). I do like the feature of the iyashi long track down to the buttocks. any suggestions?

MY RESPONSE #2
Hi, Spencer
Thank you so much for your email. I am only aware of the Human Touch WholeBody 5.1 and 7.1 as models that have mechanical rollers for the calves in the USA (the Inada Duet has some but that chair will not be coming to the USA, according to Inada USA President, Cliff Levin). The only chairs that have any form of IT band massage are the Inada Sogno and the Panasonic MA70/MA73, but they are airbag only. I do not know of a chair in the USA that has rollers for the IT band.

The extended roller track of the Iyashi is fabulous…I personally love it. The chair has a great back and foot massage, but the neck massage is a little weak. Overall a great chair. I suppose you have to prioritize the features you are looking for as there is not one chair that has everything you want. Hopefully the input I just gave will help you figure out which chair might best meet your needs.

EMAIL QUESTION #3
Dr. Weidner, I am currently researching massage chairs in hopes of making a purchase in the near future. I have narrowed my choices to the HT-7120 or the Osaki OS-3000 Chiro. I have low back pain which radiates into my right thigh due to degeneration of the lumbar region. I have used a 7120 at the chiros office and found it to be a good chair with the exception of wishing the rollers would go lower. The Osaki seems like it would fit the bill perfectly. I was hoping for your input regarding these two chairs to guide my final decision before placing an order. Thank you so much for your time in this matter. Greg

MY RESPONSE #3
Hi, Greg
Thanks for your email. I think the Osaki OS-3000 Chiro would be better for your low back. I’ve had the HT-7120 in my showroom for years and though it is a great chair, I agree that the rollers don’t go down low enough…they usually go to about belt-level. The Osaki OS-3000 Chiro has the extended roller track which does a great job on the low back. That would be my choice of the two, if the low back is your primary concern.
