How to Avoid Stress in the Summer

Summer is supposed to be fun and a time to relax and enjoy time with the family. But of course, it can cause unnecessary stress, especially with the kids out of school, and new routines coming into play. Routines change frequently, and downtime can lead to complaining and arguments. Summer events like graduation, vacations, reunions, etc. can also come with their own waves of stress, so it’s important to know how to contain it.

Dixie Jackson, a behavioral health specialist at Mayo Clinic Health System, offers a few time management tips and stress relievers to help you and your family enjoy the summer. Fist is involving the kids in setting up routines for the summer, since cooperation is a lot greater when they are involved in the activity-planning process.
