How Sleep Impairment can Increase Pain

If you’re having trouble getting a good night of sleep, that may be what is contributing to an increase in your back pain. Sleep is a complex process and impairments can occur at different stages of the sleep cycle. Some types of impairment include decreased duration of sleep, sleep onset latency, or an increase in sleep fragmentation, and all of which can be directly linked to increased pain.
