Alan: Hi, I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘‘ and today we’re going to talk a little bit about the Inada Sogno Dreamwave massage chair, and the feature we’re going to talk about today is fitting in the chair right. Now, the chair is a very, very snug, almost an all-encompassing chair. You’ve got the arm airbags, you’ve got thigh airbags, you’ve got a headpiece that sits on the shoulders, and the upper arm airbags, and then, of course, the calves and feet. So, it feels like you’re quite encompassed with it, however, if you don’t get in to it right, you’re going to feel like you’re not sitting in it comfortably enough. So, this is, what – OK, I’m just going to go through, I’m going to show you exactly what I do when I sit in the chair or put a client in the chair for the first time – you sit in the chair, now you’ll notice when I sit in the chair, that the chair, the headpiece, is between my shoulder blades.

Alan: The tendency is for most people to, right away, get in there and try to get that headpiece above their shoulders, so it’s sitting on their shoulders, but I don’t recommend that you do that, and I’m going to show you why. I’m going to turn this on and I’m going to recline the chair using the ‘Quick’ program, which has a preset, automatic, positioning and you can see it going back, and as I go back, you’ll see that the chair elongates. As the chair reclines, it lifts, it elongates and pulls the headpiece up more – so now the headpiece is more, around the – just below my shoulders. And then once the ottoman comes up, and I’m the preset position, or any position that you recline to, now I’m there, now I snuggle in, and I let my head fall back and be cradled by the head piece. Now, you can see I’ve got the shoulders right up against the headpiece, the cervical traction device here, and there are airbags that inflate here, at some point. I don’t know if we’ll be on the chair long enough today to see that.

Alan: But airbags will inflate, and you want to be – oh they’re inflating now – you want it to be snug enough, so that those airbags can push down on your trapezious muscles, and massage them, because it feels like a massage therapist’s elbows digging in to your shoulders. It’s a magnificent program, but if you’re not positioned right, and you try to set the headpiece on your shoulders beforehand, before you recline the chair, what will happen is that. when you recline, the headpiece will be up relatively higher, and the airbags will have a harder time getting on your shoulders, and the head will not feel like it’s cradling. What will happen is this, where you’ll have, your head will be in the headpiece like this , you’ll see the shoulder is up too high, and now, you’re in a kind of an uncomfortable position, it’s not comfortable at all. And for people that are sitting on this chair for the first time, it’s important that they fit right, the first time they sit. So, what I’m going to do is I’m going to stop this, and I’m going to bring this back up to ‘Neutral’, and then what I will do is I will do it the wrong way, the way that most people do it before they, before they’ve ever sat in the chair. So, we’ll bring everything back up to ‘Neutral’, chair is back up, and then we bring the headpiece, we want the headpiece up so it’s on my shoulders.

Alan: Now, so people think ‘OK, now I’m comfortable, my head’s cradled in the headpiece’ – but watch what happens when I turn on the program, and the chair reclines – watch what happens. OK, now you see it’s going back, and so what’s going to happen is it’s going to go higher up my neck, relatively speaking, so now the headpiece – see how it’s propping my head forward now because it’s not situated well in the – and you can see the space here between the shoulders and the airbags. So, what I want is, I want, I naturally want to try to lower it to get my head cradled back in to the headpiece. And of course, you can do that, but because of the long pad that joins on to the headpiece, it’s hard to move it when you’re back – so you’ve got to lift your whole body up so this thing’s free, and then you’ve got to pull it down, and then get back – I mean, it’s just a pain in the rumpus. So, if you just do it like that, right off the bat, just like I showed you, you’re going to be good to go. I hope that made sense. I’m Dr. Alan Weidner from ‘’. I hope you enjoyed this video.
