How to Deal with the Stress of Living in the Digital Age

While high-powered digital devices like laptops, tablet computers and smart phones make our lives easier and more efficient, they can also serve as a source of profound frustration. As this recent Hometown Focus article notes, the frequent updates our Internet-based electronics need to function properly can sometimes come at inopportune times, such as when you’re in the middle of working on an important project. When combined with the stress we experience every day as a result of our jobs, a misbehaving digital device can cause us to feel an overwhelming amount of anxiety.

That’s why it’s important to regularly engage in relaxing activities that allow us to disconnect from the digital world. One way to do this is get to get some aerobic exercise by jogging or joining a local rec league.

Another way is to lose yourself in a good book for a few hours. And massage is also a proven stress busting activity. In addition to loosening up tense muscles, a good massage can induce the body’s relaxation response wherein the brain pours calming hormones into the bloodstream.
