No-Name Brand Chairs – My Thoughts

I get a call, probably once a week, from a massage chair shopper or owner asking about some no-name brand massage chair. Either they want to know if I’ve heard about them, or if I know how they can get some customer support for a broken down chair from a company whose phone number is no longer in service.

Well, here is a question like that from a massage chair shopper. I thought I should post this one because the situation is so very common and scary!!

Question:

I have been looking for a chair for 6 months, of course the inada may be the best but is too high for my budget. The infinity it8200 would be good for me at 3,195.00 with a free it2020 neck massager. However I found a look alike Beauty health chair for 1,999.00, with a 10 year warranty, but this scares me, I have learned that what seems to be too good to be true, usually is. Who can I trust on the internet to stand behind my $2,000.00 to $3,500.00 purchase. I can get a 6 month old floor model inada for around $5,500 including tax, but that is a little more than my budget. I do like the hand control of the inada. The infinity control looks a little complicated to me. I saw you talking about the chairs on the internet and I think that you would stand behind what you sell. Do you know anything about the Beautyhealth chairs?

My Answer:

Hi, Len

Thank you so much for your email and trusting me enough to ask my opinion.

My first suggestion would be to run away from any chair that offers a 10 year warranty! No reputable company offers that and I just might add that I have had calls from BeautyHealth customers very upset that they cannot get satisfactory customer support. What good is a warranty if you can’t get a hold of any customer support folks when a problem arises with your chair? Your comment that it is probably too good to be true is no truer than when it applies to massage chairs. My strong recommendation would be to stick with a name brand.

Infinite Therapeutics, though a smaller player in the massage chair market, is a very good company with great customer support. You will be fine going with them for your massage chair. The IT-8200 is a very nice chair. We recently got it in our showroom and from early responses, our clients seem to really like it. It is an Inada Sogno look-a-like. Looking like the Sogno is where the comparison ends. The Inada chairs are phenomenal and that is reflected in the price.

IT-8200

The foot rollers in the IT-8200 are fantastic. I really enjoy that feature. I think you would too. The remote control on the IT-8200 is a pedestal remote, as you can tell from the pictures, but it is remarkably easy to use. It is a touch screen and I did not find the controls intimidating at all. I have felt intimidated by massage chair remote controls in the past, like with the Sanyo 7700 and the Panasonic 30007, but this one was very easy to get comfortable with.

Yes, I do certainly stand behind what I sell. I might also mention that I don’t sell chairs that don’t have a good customer support record. If you ever have a problem with your chair I want you to be able to feel secure in knowing that you have full support behind you. And, should you ever have a problem with a chair and are having trouble with getting a hold of the company, give me a call and I will get involved to make sure that you are taken care of. Lousy customer service by a massage chair company reflects on me and my retail business…and, personally, I can’t stand that.

In that same price range of $2000 – $3500 you might also check out some Osaki chairs. They are also chinese chairs, like the IT-8200, and have become very popular. They have a good customer support department and, like the IT-8200, you get a pretty good bang for your buck.

I hope this assists you in some way with your massage chair due diligence. Please feel free to contact me by email or phone (801-651-2026) if you have any other questions or if you need help with your order. I am always available 7 days a week.
