Stress at work can actually be hazardous to your health, and can lead to hypertension, obesity, and depression. That’s why it’s important to realize what is stressing you out, and learn about what you can do about it. Workers commonly feel stress when they are overwhelmed at work or adversely, feel unchallenged by their job.
Everyone experiences stress from work, especially if your financial security is tied to your paycheck. But that stress can give you more than just headaches and sleepless nights, it can actually decrease your life span. Jobs are the second most common source of stress among U.S. adults, just behind money, according to the 2014 Stress in America survey from the American Psychological Association.
“We have more control over family stress than workplace stress,” says psychotherapist Bryan Robinson, author of the book “Chained to the Desk: A Guidebook for Workaholics, Their Partners and Children, and Clinicians Who Treat Them. “It’s easier to say no to a spouse or a child than it is to your boss, but you can still set boundaries at work.”
