Your child should have a daily exercise routine regardless, but a new study shows that it can also reduce episodes of low back pain. The study was published in Physical Therapy Journal and found that a program of regular exercise and education appears to reduce low back pain in children aged 8 to 11 years old.
The study found that kids who were taught about spine help and shown how to do 4 spinal exercises for daily practice, reported fewer complaints of low back pain than those who did not. The researched believe that the spine education had the greatest impact.
“It is unlikely that the 4 exercises alone were sufficient to have a physiological effect, however it is possible that through talking about the spine, children may have a strategy to control the influence of factors that increase the risk of a low back pain event.”
