With the holiday season upon us, many people experience stress with the pressures of family, friends, work and other activities. Chair massage is a fast and affordable way to help reduce stress and keep you in the holiday mood. The anxiety associated with finding the perfect gift, planning the right party or dinner, and traveling to or from family get-togethers can create tension in your muscles, making the holidays less enjoyable. Taking time for a chair massage can release tension, improve mood, reduce aches and help improve your stamina for the holiday season.

Trying to schedule an appointment with a massage therapist during the holiday season can be near impossible between errands, baking, presents to buy and limited time to accomplish it all. However, 15 minutes with a massage chair can provide the physical and emotional boost your body needs while fitting into you budget and time constraints.

Massage chairs focus on the back to help remove muscle kinks and improve the body’s circulation. Also, chair massage has been shown to help the immune system, providing a boost to help fight off winter cold and flu season.

Relief for Cancer

Monday, April 19th, 2010

It has been shown in studies that massage can help to relieve the pain experienced by patients that have been affected with cancer.  It can also help to alleviate depression associated with a life changing diagnosis, enduring painful treatments, and the long recovery process.  When any area of our bodies are afflicted with disease and pain, it can affect the whole body.

Those suffering from disease can benefit from massage, but many times it requires frequent massage and a massage that is gentle but effective.  Many times, people affected with illnesses such as cancer are extremely weak, and may not feel like getting up and out of the house to go to a spa or other place several times a week to have a massage done by a massage professional.

A massage chair works well for this kind of maintainence and healing regimen.  It allows for an easy and convenient way to receive the healing massage that is vital to maintaining proper blood flow, and relaxation.  A massage chair can be used any time of the day or night, without the user having to move from the comfort of their own home.  It also helps to mitigate the expenses that are often incurred during the treatment of such a disease.  Instead of spending money several times a week for a professional massage, a one time investment in the chair is made, and it can be used for several years.  This way, it can be enjoyed even after the user wins their battle with cancer.

Massage vs Pharmaceuticals

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Massage is one of the oldest forms of healing known to mankind.  It has benefits that cannot be provided by any other form of treatment such as pharmaceuticals and other, more mainstream treatments.  Anyone can benefit from regular massage from athletes, dancers, and anyone that has muscles!

There are many reasons that you should have massages.  Many of have a variety of outside stressors that we experience daily.  Work, school, and family life, while enjoyable, can also be a source of stress and anxiety that can cause our muscles to become tense and sore.  It’s not only a means of relaxation.  Massage can actually improve your circulation, which gives the body an overall feeling of wellness and energy.  It can also relieve pain due to overuse or strain of muscles.  Massage has been shown to improve memory and concentration and to improve the mood of the recipient.

Whether you utilize massage to relieve ongoing pain, or to spot treat muscle strain, a massage chair is a great tool to assist you.  It allows you to receive regular, therapeutic, and relaxing massages without having to make several trips to a massage professional’s office.  It also requires only one initial investment at the time of purchase, and after that, you won’t have the expense of regular visits to a massage professional.

The Gift of Massage

Monday, April 12th, 2010

Relaxation isn’t what many of us think of when we think of a gift that we could give to someone.  It is not tangible, but is one of the most important things that we can do for ourselves and for each other.

Gift certificates for spa massages may be the first thing you think of when you think of giving the gift of massage.  However, a massage chair would be a much better option.  By giving a massage chair, you allow the recipient to enjoy a massage whenever they would like rather than once.  It also allows them to have a massage in the comfort of their own home, on their own schedule.

There are also a variety of other massage items that can  given as a gift, and will  fit any budget.  Different products are available that can target specific areas of the body such as the feet and lower back.  Massage pads allow the user to attach it to their chair at work or the seat of their car so they can have a massage while working or driving.  Also, hand held massagers are easily portable and can tallow the recipient to focus the massage on any area of the body.

General Information on Massage

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Massage involves the rubbing and  manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, especially muscles.  Massage can improve relaxation, and aid in pain relief.  It can also help to relieve muscle strain and tension as well as increase blood flow, and improve the range of motion in joints.

There are more than 80 types of massages.  Massage is most often performed by a massage professional using his/her hands.  However, other parts of the body, including the feet and elbows may be used depending on the type of massage being performed.

Swedish massage is a gentle style of massage that is recommended for the relief of muscle tension, to increase blood flow and to promote relaxation.  The masseuse/masseur uses longer strokes and also kneading motions on the top layer of muscles only.

Deep tissue massage is a more intense type of massage that is recommended for long lasting muscle pain and tension.  In this type of massage, the professional will use slower motions with a more intense and heavy pressure than that of other, gentler massage techniques such as Swedish massage.  This pressure reaches the deeper layers of the muscles.

Self massage, or home massage is a great way to relax after a stressful day of work or school, after a workout, or just to energize yourself in the morning to get ready for the day ahead.  You can use your hands and fingers to massage your own hands, feet, and neck.  Use a massage chair to relax and relieve stress and tension in areas of the body that are harder to reach, such as the mid and lower back.

Taking a Break With Massage

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

These days almost everyone works, and works too hard.  Breaks in a busy work schedule are important to help clear the head, and allow for relaxation of the body.  Taking time to relax on your break can help you to return to work refreshed and this can help you think more clearly, and focus more intently on your work.

A short massage is a great way to relax during a break.  However, most of us don’t have time to leave the office to get a massage.  The best solution to this is to have a massage chair in your office or workplace, so that you are able to utilize it any time, and immediately.  All you have to do is sit down, and select the massage type you’d like, then close your eyes and let the massage chair work.

Breaks are normally about ten to thirty minutes, and that is a perfect amount of time for a quick massage to relax the body, and re-energize yourself so that you can take on the rest of your day.  The massage chair is much more efficient than a massage professional when time is limited.  The professional can only massage one area of the body, while a chair can massage the entire body all at once.

Massage and Aging

Friday, March 19th, 2010

The quest for the fountain of youth is a long sought after principal that has spawned myriad methods of self-treatment as well as an entire industry of therapeutic creams used to tighten skin and mask the appearance cellulite. The confidence that comes with a youthful appearance cannot be understated because wrinkles and other signs of aging tend to make people more self-conscious than they would normally be.

Popular methods to prevent signs of aging are topical firming creams containing caffeine or theophylline. The way that these creams promote a youthful appearance is not the healthiest of manners. Simply put, caffeine and theophylline are diuretics and do nothing more for a youthful appearance than dehydrate fat cells for a short period of time, usually less than a full day.

A more healthy and lasting alternative is the use of therapeutic massage. Massage, besides having numerous other health benefits, stimulates the lymphatic system in turn draining lymph fluid from your cells, which does more in the way of attaining a more youthful appearance than do any topical product ever could. Time spent getting a massage from a licensed practitioner or a massage chair not only does good things for tight muscles, but also helps maintain a youthful appearance.

Modern Day Conditions

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

These days many people spend long hours at work sitting behind a desk, or some in some similar environment where they are not adequately active throughout the day.  Typically, these jobs also involve a high level of stress.  While you can’t change the fact that our jobs require us to work with these conditions, you can do several things to help mitigate the negative impact that stress and a sedentary work environment can have on your body and overall health.

Back pain can be caused by several things including improper posture and various types of injuries.  The good news is that massage works well to relieve almost all types of back pain.  It is a non invasive way to manage and prevent pain that has no side effects.  Massage impacts the muscles directly, but can have residual positive effects in many other areas.  Massage has been shown to improve the symptoms of insomnia and other nervous conditions.  It has also been proven to improve circulation which helps distribute blood and oxygen to the entire body, and also rids the body of toxins. Massage is more and more often becoming a part of regular treatments in hospitals and other types of care facilities.

Headache Treatments

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Headaches are a common ailment with a variety of treatments. Common medications include but are not limited to, acetaminophen, ibuprofen and naproxen all of which are marketed under a lot of different names. Additionally, there are many natural treatments targeted toward people seeking a more holistic approach to headache pain management.

A non-medicinal approach, or one without ingesting medication rather, is fingertip therapy. Gently massaging certain muscles, nerve areas, joints and acupressure points can relieve headache pain and also be quicker than popping a couple of pills with none of the side effects that can occur over time with the use of medication.

The first area to massage for tension or any other kind of headache is your temporalis muscle. When your teeth are clenched, it is the tender area where you feel a muscle move. Using two fingers to gently massage this area and apply pressure can help relieve pain.

Other areas include behind the large bones behind your ears, which should be done with the thumbs, between the eyes using an upward pinching motion as to feel the pressure in your eyebrows and the web of your hands in almost the same manner. The neck is another area of interest and can be massaged by alone, or with the use of a massage chair.

More Than Skin Deep

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Massage provides a form of therapy and relaxation that is not paralleled by any other form of treatment.  Massage is much more than just a way to relax the muscles.  While muscle relaxation is a key to proper functioning of our bodies, massage also contributes to our overall wellness in a variety of ways.

Massage helps to improve blood flow to the body.  Improving circulation can help to lower blood pressure.  Poor circulation often times makes a person’s hands or feet cold because not enough warm, oxygenated blood is reaching them.  When blood is circulating properly, it can also help to aid in the removal of toxins from the body.  Massage does this by clearing away waste products made by the lymphatic system.

Massage can also help the body to look and feel better by increasing muscle tone.  Massage accomplishes this by stimulating the muscles to have a type of reflex that stimulates the muscles to contract and relax as they would during light toning exercises.

This is especially beneficial to those people who for whatever reasons cannot participate in a regular exercise program or have an occupation that requires them to be sedentary much of the time.  Massage chairs are a great tool to help maintain a regular massage schedule both at work and at home.
