Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Stress is your body’s natural reaction of the body. It typical prepares the body for action, kicking you into a higher state of alertness. Depending on the stimulus the symptoms of stress can vary. However, typically aches and stiffness in the back and neck are common symptoms of stress. Massage chairs provide many types of treatments to help reduce the tightness and soreness of the affected areas.

Often times our minds get carried away with the situations in front of us, causing our bodies to alter to deal with the stress. Unfortunately we have a tendency to hold on to these situations, perhaps trying to work them out in our brains while our bodies are getting tied up in knots.

During times of stress, our bodies release hormones such as adrenalin and glucocorticoids. These two hormones increase heart rate and energy, a hold-over from our fight-or-flight response. However when your body is under this kind of stress over a long period of time it causes physical changes in your body.

The typical physical changes are tightness and tension in muscles. Particularly the muscles of the neck, back and shoulders.

Massage chairs can provide daily relief and healing to the stressed muscles in our bodies. At the touch of a button a full body automatic massage can be activated, helping to relieve the stress and anxiety built up.

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

In today’s society we are always seeking new ways of pain relief. The number one method of pain relief is taking drugs, but the second most common method to eliminate pain is massage therapy.

Pain relievers remove the symptom of pain. Pharmaceutics do not get to the root of the problem, just temporarily eliminate the symptom. Methods utilized by massage therapy penetrate deep into muscle and tissue to provide long term relief by treating the cause of pain.

A variety of effective techniques have been developed over time for treating muscle aches and pains. Shiatsu, Swedish and reflexology are a few of the more popular treatments and are available in many massage chair recliners on the market.

Massage chairs have started to become more main stream as a legitimate health enhancer. The convenience of a massage chair means that you never have to wait for an appointment. The one time cost means that you won’t have to keep impacting your wallet for stress relief.

Some of the best massage chair brands offer a variety of massage therapies to choose from, including Swedish, Hawaiian, deep tissue and others. Most chairs also allow the user the freedom of designating a specific area to work on, allowing the focus to be where the pain lies.

Fitness Over 40: Massage Chairs Do Revive You

Monday, May 24th, 2010

As a person gets older their metabolism slows, beginning in the mid 30’s. In order to achieve true fitness over 40 three things must be regulated: diet, exercise and massage chair therapy.

The decrease in metabolism makes an individual feel like they have less energy. The less energy can lead to a loss of motivation; making the struggle for physical fitness a challenge.

Diet is the first pillar. If a person makes poor decisions on the food they eat—i.e. high in calories and fats—they will store that excess energy as fat. Therefore, it is important to eat a proper and balanced diet.

Exercise is the second pillar. A person doesn’t need to become a workout fanatic to maintain physical fitness, but it is important to try and do a light exercise 4 to 5 times per week.

Massage Chair therapy is the final pillar. Your body needs to go through a healing process to recuperate the muscles. A session on a massage chair will help to relax your muscles, allowing the body to heal any damage to muscle tissue. This repair is necessary to balance your body in peak performance.

Massage chairs come with a variety of massage techniques as well as heat therapy programs to help increase blood flow and reduce swelling from working the muscles.

Warning: Massage and Therapy – Find Convienent Resources

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Massage therapy dates back to the times of Egypt, Greece, China, India and Rome.

Many kinds of medical disorders were treated by massages. It can be used to treat stress, induce relaxation, and promote over-all well being. It is also used to help the muscular, nervous, circulatory and immune systems.

One of the best forms of stress relief is a full body massage. The experience helps to rejuvenate the body by relaxing muscles and stimulating particular parts of the body, such as the circulatory and immune systems. Many massage chairs provide a full body massage with the convenience of in-home treatment and more effective time management.

Massage can also be used for specific parts of the body, such as the foot. This type of massage is referred to as Reflexology. Many massage chairs offer reflexology treatments.

Massage therapy has branched into the realm of conventional medicine. In America, over 70% of hospitals now offer massage in some of their treatments. Particularly for those suffering from chronic pain, joint and muscle mobility, stress management, and even cancer. Research has also been conducted to see how massage therapy can help to boost the immune system and lower blood pressure. It has even been suggested as a way to help people who are going through drug and alcohol withdrawal treatment.

What is Reflexology?

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Many of today’s massage chairs offer a reflexology massage, but what is reflexology.

Fundamentally, reflexology is a massage that focuses primarily on the feet. The theory behind it is that parts of the feet correspond to area’s of the body. By focusing a massage on the corresponding part of the foot, you can actually help other parts of your body.

For example, the tips of the toes are a reflection of the head, while the heart and chest correspond to the ball of the foot.

By stimulating and massaging these reflex areas, health can be promoted to the corresponding organ. While practitioners believe it is an energetic pathway that allows this healing to take place, scientifically it may be that the pressure sends signals through the nervous system, perhaps releasing natural chemicals to help reduce pain and stress.

Reflexology massages have become popular in today’s massage chairs because they promote relaxation, improve circulation, reduce pain, sooth tired feet, and encourage overall healing in the body. This type of massage is a great compliment to other types of massages offered in massage chairs.

Short Term Pain

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

The diagnosis and treatment of back pain has creased a multi-billion dollar industry.  This is because back pain will affect almost everyone at some point.  Sometimes pain comes on suddenly that doesn’t last longer than a few weeks.  Back pain can also be something that is much more constant and long term.

Massage chairs are often used to treat the more short term kind of back pain, but can also be used as part of a maintainence program for chronic or long term back pain.  Back pain is often caused when muscles of the back aren’t used evenly.  When force or strain is placed in one area of the back, it causes the body to compensate by using overusing other muscles or using muscles incorrectly.  This can cause stiffness and pain.

Massage chairs can immediately treat the source of most acute back pain.  It relaxes and elongates muscles.  This allows the muscles to be used evenly again, preventing further stiffness and possible damage to muscles.  It also improves the range of motion of muscles.  For this reason, massage chairs are often used in chiropractic offices to help loosen up a patient’s muscles before they have a spinal adjustment done by the chiropractor.

Regular Deep Tissue Massage

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

A gentle massage works well for everyday muscle stiffness, but if you have a constant pain or tightness in the muscles of your back and body, a deeper massage could be necessary.  Deep tissue massage works to achieve a different goal then a massage meant to only relax and re energize.  It works to heal the muscles below the surface and to give the tendons more flexibility.

Massage, when it goes beyond the upper layers of the muscles, help to increase the flexibility of the muscles.  When muscles are tense and tight, they are more susceptible to injuries.  When muscles become damaged after an injury, scar tissue can develop which can impede the flexibility of muscles even more.  When this happens, it causes a cycle of injury and damage that can cause serious problems when not treated over a long period of time.

For massage to truly be effective, it, like most other treatments, has to be done regularly.  Stress doesn’t happen all at once.  It develops gradually, and so it has to be prevented and treated on a regular basis.  Deep tissue massage is now available in a variety of massage chairs from several manufacturers.  Massage chairs and other massage equipment can target specific areas of the body that receive the most stress such as the feet and neck, as well as offer a full body massage.

Soldiers and Back Pain

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Back pain is often experienced by soldiers, especially while on deployment, many times to foreign countries.  Studies have shown that more times than not, once a soldier leaves his/her unit due to low back pain, he/she will not return to the unit.

Back pain has been shown to be the leading cause of disability in both the civilian and military populations.  Back pain may seem like a trivial ailment when compared to the injuries more commonly associated with a deployed soldier such as traumatic brain injury.  However, back pain, when left untreated can and will send a soldier home for a sometimes lengthy recovery.

Our armed forces endure some of the most stressful conditions both on the mind and on the body.  They are also very active, at times lifting or carrying significant amounts of weight.  Massage chairs could help to serve as a preventative measure for troops both at home and while on deployment.  Because massage can relax both the body and the mind, it helps to treat mental as well as physical stress.  An increased flexibility of the muscles that is provided by massage will help to prevent future or further injury, thus, decreasing the number of soldiers that have to leave their unit due to back injury.
