Cool Car Safety Tips

April 17th, 2012

While summer’s warmer weather is inviting and fun it doesn’t put an end to our busy life. We still have to take our car to run errands. Although we don’t want to we often have to drag our children to go on the errand with us. While it is understandable to try to reduce your children’s boredom by leaving them in the car it’s not practical when temperatures can reach the high 90’s. In that kind of heat your children could suffer from hyperthermia. Even though the windows are wide open the car can still over heat that’s why it’s better you take your children with you. After all don’t you feel a lot better having your children under your watchful eyes? I know when most parents have a good knowledge of their children’s whereabouts they sleep better at night. Take care of your little ones.

It is wonderful to see the increase in the number of people getting fit. Whether you have decided to get into aerobic excercise for your health or so you look good come swimsuit season, you are to be congratulated on your athletic performance. While many people don’t want to add extra minutes to their routine, it is important that you consider adding a brief warm-up and cool-down session each day. These brief periods of reduced intensity activity are important for preparing the body, such as increase blood flow and body temperature, but it also helps stretch muscles thus reducing muscle strain or injury.

Ready to Shake-Out?

April 17th, 2012

The state of Utah is conducting a state-wide earthquake drill today. This follows on the example of other western states, such as California and Washington. The emergency drill provides an opportunity to remind everyone about the importance of being prepared for an emergency. Conducting drills is important to get procedures imbedded in your though processes. In an actual emergency many people simply panic, however, if you have a plan in place, often times your body will essentially fall back on learned behavior, thus you will follow the pre-established conduct. Take the time to prepare you family, not only for earthquakes, but for other emergency situations (i.e. tornados, fires, hurricanes, etc.).

Make Yourself A Frozen Fruity Pop!

April 17th, 2012

Fresh fruit is undeniably delicious, but if you are consuming it day-after-day for the nutritional value, you will likely want to mix up the delivery. One of the great ways to get your fruit and cool you down in the warmer months is to make youself some frozen fruity pops. Using a combination of fruits, juice and yogurt, you can easily create a delicious concoction. Then simply pour the fruit smoothie into paper fups with sticks in the center, or you can use pre-formed molds. After freezing for about 3 hours you can enjoy your frozen, fruity pop.

It’s Exercise Time!

April 16th, 2012

With summer quickly approaching many of us are turning to exercise as a way to keep our bodies in shape. Jumping jacks, sit ups, and walking are all important steps to keeping our self-healthy and in shape. But does it matter what time we get our exercise in? Yes it does matter what time you exercise. Many doctors recommend you get in your physical exercise early in the morning.  While getting our exercise in the morning time is ideal it is not practical. As many of us have different life responsibilities and different work schedules getting in our exercise in the morning time is not possible. Additionally some of us are not morning people and rather get up in the afternoon time. Whatever time you deemed as your exercise time is fine “just don’t exercise 3 hours before your bedtime as you won’t be able to fall asleep easily.” Good night now rest assure you have made a good decision to stay healthy.

Hey Don’t Stress It

April 16th, 2012

Unfortunately no matter how much time we try to avoid a stressful life situation we sometimes fail and are overcome by stress. One thing we may notice is that some months are more stressful then other months. For instance January the first month of a new beginning seems to be a very stressful month for a lot of people. It’s a stressful month because a lot of people make promises they know they can’t keep. Although January is very capable of being a stressful month it is however very preventable. One way to try to prevent a stressful month is not making too big goals you know you can’t keep. For example, many people make big elaborate New Year’s resolutions when they know they can’t keep them. When they fail at their goals they became depress failure is nothing to be depressed about. I believe “failure is the key to success” success usually comes after you fail a couple of times. No worries if you fall of you bike get back on and try again.

Protect Yourself From Corns

April 16th, 2012

If you have ever had a corn, you know that they can be quite painful. If you’ve never experience one, you should be aware that corns are essentially a thick callus that forms on the foot and, as mentioned, can be painful. As such, you will want to take steps to avoid developing corns. One of the most basic preventions is that of wearing shoes that fit. If they are too loose and your foot slids around in the shoe you can develop a callus, at the same time, if your shoes are too tight and squeeze the feet a corn may develop.
