Spine Twisting Pose: Ardha Matsyendrasana

Ardha Matsyendrasana is known as the Spine Twisting Asana. Basically it is one of the essential poses to help keep the body healthy and fine. It is believe that, if done correctly, it can help to better the wellness of a person’s day-to-day life.

The twist of the pose is supposed to help adrenal glands, kidneys, liver and spleen, as well as benefit people suffering from asthma, indigestion, constipation and obesity.

Every movement of the Ardha Matsyendrasana helps to assist in strengthening the spine and the muscles of the back. This, in turn, helps to increase the flexibility of the back and help in the overall agility of the body.

In conjunction with a chair massage, the pose can help to treat sciatica, a condition of pain in the lower back and legs. At the same time, the pose can help increase the circulation in the spinal nerves, veins and tissues of the back. As well as helping to strengthen abdominal muscles.

By loosening muscles with a chair massage the Ardha Matsyendrasana can follow up by twisting the spine to improve conditions of lumbago and rheumatism. In addition, because of the increased strength of muscles the symptoms of slip discs can be reduced or even eliminated.
