Back Pain can be a Trouble

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

Back pain has become a major problem faced today. No age seems to be immune from the affects of back pain, it interrupts the lives of youngsters, to the aged.

Back pain can be caused by many different things. Injury, diet, obesity, and genetics are just a few of the causes. Treatments options all depend on the type of pain and the source of the pain.

Many forms of pain relief are available in pill form, both pharmaceutical and herbal. Chronic and sever back pain will almost always require some form of medication.

Sciatica is a type of back pain characterized by the feeling of pain in the lower back and gluteal region. Sometimes this pain also travels down into one or both legs, even to the calf and foot. The treatment of sciatica typically involves the prescription of medications, and the directing of certain exercises designed to stretch out the muscles in the lower back.

Losing weigh and eating healthy are two ways to naturally help provide back pain relief. Less weight straining the spinal column and its surrounding muscles will help to avoid pain, while the incorporation of vitamins and minerals from healthy foods will help to provide healing nutrients to damaged tissues.

Massage therapy is another natural form of pain relief. A chair massage will help to relax the muscles and stimulate the delivery of nutrient-filled fluids to the muscles.

Back Pain Begins with Poor Posture

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Posture, good or bad, is a result of your lifestyle, essentially your habits, patterns, positions and the things you do every day will culminate in the formation of your posture.

The human body is very good at adapting ot the environment we place it in. In today’s society most people will spend most of their lives sitting, through school and jobs and even free time. The continual sitting position will cause the body to adapt physical changes that in turn will result in dysfunction of the posture. If ignored, these problems can eventually lead to further structural damage which can cause pain.

Generally, the adage “the bones go where the muscles take them” is a good principle to remember.

Analyzing your posture can help you to determine where the problems in your posture are being caused; which muscles are too tight, which are too strained, etc. After analyzing the weaknesses, you can develop a plan to help correct the issues. By incorporation of stretching, exercising and physical therapy you can have a well-balanced program to correct posture deficiencies.

Massage chairs can help in a posture readjustment by helping to loosen muscles and help to strengthen weakened ones, thus helping to rebalance the overall integrity of the back, neck and shoulder muscles.

Neck Disc

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

Problems with the discs in the neck can be particularly frustrating, not only because of the pain, but also the general disability.

Spinal discs are composed of a special ligament and one of their main purposes is to support the junction of spinal bones. The center of these hard discs is composed of a softer, jelly-like substance which helps act as a shock absorber in the body.

One of the problems with the spinal discs is that they don’t receive an adequate blood supply, so when an injury occurs the healing time is increased due to the slow process of delivering nutrients necessary for recovery.

When the disc becomes injured, sometimes the outer coating weakens and the jelly substance inside pushes against the weaker areas, causing what is referred to as a bulging disc. Oddly enough, the discs have no nerve sensors in them, so you’re pain is not from the bulging disc. Rather the pain felt is from impingement of the surrounding nerves. The discs surround the spinal cord, a long series of nerves, so when they are pressured, the pain can be felt in a variety of locations.

Many massage chairs offer features of massage directed in the neck area. This can help to stimulate the blood flow in the area, increasing the amount of nutrients that make their way through, which in turns helps the overall recovery process of the hurt disc.

Freedom from Fibromyalgia

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Approximately 70% of the population is affected by fibromyalgia. Sufferers range from mild pain to chronic persistent pain.

Fibromyalgia is a condition in which the nerves in the muscles are pinched and tightened. The muscle fibers retain a tight cellular memory, leading the muscle tissues to seize up. The continual seizing of the muscles leads to the pain. This seizing can be minor, or can be as severe as causing the whole back to tighten and seize in pain.

The most common from of treatment is through pain medications. Typically a combination of drugs for pain relief and muscle relaxation.

One of the ways to help treat and reduce the pain caused by fibromyalgia is massage. A chair massage will help to loosen the muscles. At the same time it will stimulate an increase in blood flow to help with the cramping caused by the seized tissues. Chair massage is a more economical source of massage, due to the need for repeated and frequent treatments. A massage chair provides convenient and economical support for sufferers of fibromyalgia.

Suffering with Herniated Disc Problems? 5 Ways to Relieve Your Back Pain Now

Friday, May 7th, 2010

A herniated disk is a common ailment in today’s world. It is estimated that 85% of people who have NO back pain will still show a herniated disc when an MRI is performed. While 80% of the US population will suffer from a back injury at some point in their lives, only 10% of them will ever require surgery.

There are 5 things to keep in mind when regarding lower back pain and the possibility of a herniated disc.

First, low back pain, and pain that radiates down the leg do not necessarily mean a herniated disc is the source of the back pain, despite the presence of a positive MRI.

Second, you should try and be aware of all your symptoms as it may be an implication of a more serious back problem. Some of these include: Fever, inability to manage daily activities, severe pain that worsens over time and the pain returning often.

Third, Herniated discs don’t just happen because you leaned over to pick up a small object. Spinal discs are actually quite tough, but they can deteriorate over time because of aging of the tissues and genetic factors.

Fourth, it is important to ‘exercise’ the back muscles and tissues. One of the ways to help stretch and strengthen back muscles is by getting a chair massage. This type of treatment doesn’t put any additional stress on the muscles, while at the same time working to strengthen the muscles and muscle balance in the back.

Finally, you shouldn’t pursue treatments that have no effect on a herniated disc problem.

Are you Experiencing Back Pain? 3 Secret Weapons

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

The various massage techniques offered in a massage chair are beneficial for relaxation and therapeutic relief. The three primary techniques are Swedish massage, trigger point and deep tissue massage.

Back massage techniques are a natural, or holistic, approach to relieve pain. In addition to treating back pain, they help to relieve stress and improve your overall well being.

Swedish massage is probably the most commonly known form of back massage. This type is both a stimulating and relaxing form of massage. The effleurage is used to warm the back muscles, as well as increase the circulation of blood to the back in preparation for the second stage. Petrissage is a form of massage that delves into the deeper tissue and muscle fibers. This technique is particularly beneficial for tight muscles and stress relief.

Trigger point massage helps to relief the pain of chronic tight muscles. A combination of direct and deep pressure applied to certain points of the back help to relieve accumulated body toxins that store in particular regions of the back. These are referred to as ‘Trigger Points’. Pressure remains on a trigger point until relief is felt.

Deep tissue massage is beneficial to sufferers of chronic back pain. It targets postural problems and areas of repetitive strain. Deep tissue massage also helps to break up deep layers of scar tissue by stimulating healing of the area through increased blood flow.

Neck Pain from Sleeping?

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

There are many ways to help cure neck pain developed while sleeping. Some solutions include medical injections in to the joints, chiropractic adjustments, or other medications. Unfortunately, any of these treatments can get expensive, and don’t provide long term relief, but rather short term. Rather, there are two methods of treatment which are both affordable and natural.

First would be the investment in a natural millet hull pillow. These are pillows composed of all natural fibers, typically strong linen and covered with natural cotton.

Second, regular stretching of the neck muscles will help to keep the tissues loose and pliable. Many yoga poses can help with the stretching and relaxation of the body, including the neck.

The next way would be to regularly get a massage for the muscles in the neck. One of the easiest and most convenient ways would be through a massage chair. Not only will this allow the muscles to become relaxed, but also will stimulate blood flow providing nutrients to the tissues. Investment in a massage chair not only can provide you with easy access to a neck massage, but to back and shoulder massages as well.
