Range of Motion

Back pain is mainly caused by the misuse, overuse or strain of muscles during physical activity.  At some point in our lives, we will all experience back pain.  It is a common affliction, and as such, it has been studied extensively, and many treatments have been proven beneficial.  One of these treatments is massage.  Massage therapy can help improve many areas that contribute to overall health.

When muscles relax, it increases the range of motion our bodies have.  An increased range of motion will help you to be more comfortable during physical activity, and increased flexibility means less chance of injury and strain to muscles.  This will make exercise easier, which will further strengthen muscles and prevent injury further.  When our core muscles are weak, it can cause us to use other muscles incorrectly, which causes us to move and hold our bodies differently than they should be.  This causes stiffness and soreness at the end of the day.

Many times, back pain has to be treated by a combination of massage and chiropractic care, along with an exercise program to strengthen the muscles of the core area of the body.  Massage increases blood flow to all areas of the body, and this will help to heal them, and to relieve and prevent soreness after physical activity. A massage chair can take care of part of this treatment regimen.  It can be done in the privacy of your own home, on your schedule.  And in the end, it is more cost effective then a trip to a massage professional several times a week.
