Omega Introduces a New Massage Chair!

Friday, January 14th, 2011

I just got an email this morning from Omega Massage (www.omegamassage.com) announcing a new massage chair into their line-up. This one is called the Aires massage chair. It looks kinda cool. It seems Omega is going aft

Omega Aires

er chairs that areaesthetically different to cater to the buyer who wants a chair to look like a chair and not a massage chair. I totally get that. There is something bothersome to a home decorator who is trying to match a massage chair to a well-decorated room. It is not so easy. So, these new models from Omega, like the Aires and the Serenity/Skyline massage chairs introduced last year, will really get your home decorating juices going.

The new Aires chair has the following functions/features:

  • 3 Manual Air Massage Programs
  • 3 Levels of Air Pressure Intensity
  • 19 Airbags (4 calves/feet, 1 seat, 2 back, 2 neck)
  • Heaters for the feet
  • Foot roller massage
  • Motorized leg rest

Looks like it doesn’t have back rollers, but massages primarily through airbags.

The picture looks kinda cool, doesn’t it? I like it. The ad says that the ottoman “is hidden underneath the chair when not in use”, but I can’t tell from the image how that happens. Does it fold under or “hide” in some other way? Not sure, but the look reminds me of a lounge chair. It looks like it doesn’t recline so laying back and watching the television may not be the most comfortable way to use the chair, but for reading or knitting or whatever you can do upright, it looks perfect.

I’ll share more with you once I learn more about this new massage chair from Omega, i.e. colors, price, etc. I’m sure we’ll be carrying it on our site soon enough.

Update on Omega Massage Chairs

Monday, October 25th, 2010

I spoke for quite a bit of time with Jimi Hahm, national sales manager for Omega Massage chairs (www.omegamassage.com) and thought I’d share some very interesting info regarding their line-up of massage chairs.

1. The new and popular Serenity and Skyline zero gravity massage chairs are available to compete with the Sanyo RX1, which is a Relax the Back exclusive. The Sanyo RX1 is an airbag-only zero gravity chair that retails for $2799. The Serenity and Skyline models are the same genre of massage chair, but with rollers in the lower back, in addition to the air bags. These chairs also go for $2499 and $2199, respectively. We have a white Serenity model in our showroom and it is very striking, as far as looks go. That is the other thing that these new Omega chairs have over the Sanyo chair…they are very contemporary looking and would fit in the decorum of any room of any home or office. Designed to look like a regular piece of furniture.

2. As you know from previous blog posts on my blog, the Omega 510 was discontinued quite some time ago. It was one of our favorite chairs because of the rich feature set that came for a very reasonable price. Omega is working on another mid-range priced model right now which would replace the 510. This new model will have full-body heat, which I’ve never seen before in any other chair, zero gravity function (which Omega seems to be going to in all their new models), and a 3D roller, which they will call Slimline. Inada is the only other chair that we know of that carries a 3D massage roller function. I’ll be curious to see this one when it comes to market.

3. Omega will eventually come out with another high end chair, in the Montage massage chair range, that will be an improvement on the old faithful Montage model.

That’s about it for today.

Omega M-2 Orion Massage Chair Redesign

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

I received a notice from Omega Massage Chairs, whose products we sell on our website and in our showroom, describing to us the design changes to the popular and very affordable M-2 massage chair. Here is what is up with the new design:

Omega M-2 Massage Chair

1. Flat style leg rest with 4 calf and foot rollers. No more calf wells….massage is within the ottoman, but not through the traditional calf wells.
2. Redesigned back pain for added comfort and style.
3. Arched cervical pillow for improved head support.

Great chair for the money. Omega came out with the new Skyline and Serenity zero gravity massage chairs, which also employ the same flat style calf and foot leg rest/ottoman. I don’t know how effective this massage will be compared to the calf well ottoman. I suspect that it will be much less intense, but I have heard through the grapevine that this flat style actually does a fairly vigorous job massaging the calves.

The price remains the same, by the way ($1299).
