What’s The Good News About Massage Chairs?

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

There have been many discussions about the economy over the last year.  We have heard of many people losing their jobs, businesses closing their doors, and Corporations getting bailed out.  But there have been very few stories of anything positive, about businesses thriving, new businesses opening their doors, or companies creating a profit this last year.  Massage Chair Relief is proud to say that we are one of those stores! Our sales have increased each month this year compared to a year ago and in some months almost tripled!  We feel very blessed and are very grateful for all of our wonderful clients!

I attribute this in part to our low overhead but I feel it speaks volumes to our excellence in customer service and in the high standard of quality of our products.  I feel that another key point to this is that although people are cutting expenses in other areas, people are finding that the investment made in a high quality massage chair is a worthwhile one!  Massage chairs truly do bring a higher quality of life and an increased freedom to many that use them regularly.  To some, owning and using their massage chairs can be ranked as high a priority as having food to eat, water to drink, and air to breathe because of the relief that they experience from chronic medical problems.  Some of you may think that I am being a bit dramatic but then there are those of you who know exactly what I am talking about!

To go back to my earlier sentiments, we know that it is an investment  so we are here to ensure that you are well-informed, matched with the right chair that fits you personally, and are here as a reference even long after you have made your purchase!

I just want to take this time to say THANK YOU to all of you who have trusted us with your business!  We look forward to many, many more years of serving you with our massage chair expertise!
On a side note…If any of you DO have positive stories from this last year, please send them to us, or reply to this blog!  We would love to hear them and spread the joy!!

Christmas Massage Chair Shopping in October?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

You may think me nuts, but I think you should start planning on getting your massage chair for Christmas now. Here are my reasons:

1. The closer you get to the holidays, the less of a selection you have. Chairs that have multiple colors tend to run out of certain, less-popular colors as the season progresses.

2. Shipping takes more time the closer you get to December 25th. Trust me when I say that it is a madhouse around Christmas-time. Most folks wait until the last minute (myself included!!) and then get into trouble wanting the massage chair chair by Dec. 25th because the shipping lines are filled up.

3. I heard on CNBC the other day that intial sales estimates for retailers were very low because of the lethargic economy. Well, last week retail sales figures were surprisingly higher than expected. So, the thinking is that manufacturers have put in lower than expected production for this 4th quarter, expecting the demand to be down. But, as it is turning out, retail sales are doing better than expected. Bottom line is that their may not be much inventory by December if sales continue to thrive. Massage chairs have already been ordered for 4th quarter and there may not have been enough ordered.

So, that is the rationale behind getting your orders sooner than later. Hope it made sense. I sure hope you are sitting on a magnificent massage chair come December 25th!

Sanyo 5000 Massage Chair Discontinued!! (I’ve Got A Floor Model For You)

Friday, July 24th, 2009

I spoke to the marketing rep for Sanyo massage chairs yesterday and got the scoop that the Sanyo 5000 has been discontinued. It kinda surprised me since it is a popular selling chair. Apparently, they are discontinuing it and introducing a new model later this year which, when I hear more about it, I will share with you. We also received permission yesterday to finally add the Sanyo 7700 zero gravity massage chair to our website. Sanyo does not want any price slashing on their zero gravity chairs and are working hard at maintaining online pricing integrity for their models (maybe that’s why they are discontinuing the 5000 model, eh?…hhhmmm…I wonder). Anyway, now that we are considered a trusted partner by Sanyo they gave us permission to add the 7700 to our website. I sent off the request to my web designer this morning and hope to have it up ASAP.

I am very excited about this as we have sold many of this massage chair model even though it has not been on our website. We have also sold many of it’s sister chair, the 6700 massage chair, which is also zero-gravity, but about $500 less. I have discussed the differences between the two models in a previous blog post:

http://www.massage-chair-relief.com/blog/chair-models/the-sanyo-6700-replacing-the-sanyo-7700-massage-chair/

Both are fantastic chairs that boast the zero gravity feature…which is fantastic for you low-back pain sufferers out there.

Well, since the Sanyo 5000 massage chair has been discontinued, I have a floor model for sale. It is about 1 1/2 years old and is in good condition. It has had some wear and tear but works great. I am selling this chair for only…are you ready for this…$1499. It’s regular retail is $3999. You can call us at our showroom at 801-417-8240 or visit our website to order it (http://www.massage-chair-relief.com/closeout.html). But, since there is just the one 5000 massage chair, once it is gone…it is gone.

Have a super weekend and thanks for visiting us today.

How do you like them? I think I like this model moreso than the Skyline model. I like the different base and the round sides. What do you think?

Hey, we sold our first massage chair to Bermuda yesterday!! A delightful client named Leah purchased the Sanyo 6700 massage chair from our website and this is our first Bermuda sale. I sure wish I was delivering it myself! Way to go, Leah. You’re going to love your new massage chair.

Massage Chairs Help Your Golf Swing!!

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

I knew that would get your attention. Well, a couple of weeks ago we were preparing to do a segment on KSL’s Studio 5 television program. The plan was to measure the rotation of a client from left to right to see if there was any decreased range of motion. We noticed that our client did not turn to the right as easily or as far as he did to the left. Then we put him in a massage chair (the Sogno Plus) for 15 minutes. After the session was over, I had our client stand up and turn from right to left again. This time his rotation was equal to both sides.

Now, this client is a big golfer. So, I got to tell him that this increase in the range of motion to his right would help his golf swing. How, you may ask? Well, this is how it works…The power that goes into your golf swing is determined not so much by the strength of your muscles as it is by the heigth of your backswing. The higher your backswing, the greater power transfers to your swing and follow through. If you have ever looked at Sergio Garcia’s or Tiger Wood’s swing in slow motion you will see that the club, on the backswing, pretty much goes to 12 o’clock which is directly over the head. For the rest of us, it is not nearly as high as that. That is why they hit the dang ball so far! You can’t get a high backswing if you are inflexible or if you have lousy range of motion. This is where a massage chair comes in.

What I am telling you is that if you sit in your massage chair regularly, particularly before a round of golf, you will find greater flexibility in your muscles and joints which will help you increase the power of your golf swing, which will give you a longer shot. Of course, you still have to be able to hit straight and have a good short game (massage chairs can’t do everything!!) so don’t blame the massge chair if that doesn’t improve.

Happy Golfing

Massage Chair Relief Showroom 1 Year Anniversary!

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

It just dawned on us, here at the Massage Chair Relief showroom, that our store in Utah has been open for 1 year! Although we have been online for 4 years now, the brick and mortar store that many of you Massage Chair Relief showroomhave visited, is now a year old. It has been a great year. We have put out some wonderful television commercials, we have been in all kinds of trade shows and golf tournaments, and we have made many, many friends in the community and around the country.

The massage chair business has been more than I could ever have imagined. We have met so many wonderful people and helped so many folks, like you, to feel better. This has been a business that many members of my family have become involved with, including my sweet wife, Mona.  We absolutely love doing what we are doing….and we absolutely love that we have met so many great clients who came into our our store.

What can we expect for the next year? Well, I’m not sure, but I have a couple of ideas I plan on looking into. For example, we are seriously looking into opening another store. One thing I have learned over this last year is that there are not enough massage chairs on display around the country for people to try out. We get so many calls from shoppers just wanting to experience a massage chair before committing to buying it. A showroom is the way to do that.

I am also considering moving to a location where we have more walk-by traffic. We are in a good location, but our walk by traffic is virtually non-existent. Everyone comes in from finding us on the web or by seeing our commercial or through a friend’s referral. We just need to get more butts into our massage chair, and a busier store front would help. But, I sure don’t want to overextend us with an expensive space. Leasing can be very, very expensive. But, we’ll keep you posted!

Thank you for your fantastic patronage and support over the last 4 years. We love what we do and we truly appreciate our clients and visitors.

Hey, I just had a brilliant idea!! I should have some sort of an anniversary special. Since I can’t advertise any price discounts (the manufacturers don’t like that too much!), why don’t you send me an email to my personal email address, alan@massage-chair-relief.com, and put the words “anniversary special” in the subject line and I will send you special offer on massage chairs. How does that sound? You can even leave your phone number in the email and I will call you and give you the info over the phone if that is what you want. But, send the email and I will have something special for my blog readers.

Thanks, again.

HT-5270 Massage Chair Discontinued and other website stuff…

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

I was notified this week that the HT-5270 massage chair, by Human Touch, has been discontinued. We have removed it from our site. We have been selling more and more of the HT-5320 massage chairs. They seem to be quite popular.

Some recent changes to our massage-chair-relief. com website include:

1. We have added a “Product Photos” section to each product page.  We have always just had the main photo of each product on the page, but now we have a separate section for each product that is dedicated to any photo we can find of the chair.  This will assist you in assessing which chair is best for you.For example, the HT-1650 massage chair has the best foot and calf massager of any massage chair, in my humble opinion. But,  looking at the image on the HT-1650 product page you would think it had no ottoman at all, as it is retractable and we did not have a photo of it with the ottoman out! That just won’t do!

2.  Have you seen our bestseller’s list? If you scroll down the home page to below the Google map, you will see the top 4 selling massage chairs in each price category. If you are looking for a chair this might point you in the right direction right off the bat.

3. You will see the 30″ version of our new Massage Chair Relief television commercial at the top right of the home page. We used to have a short video of “yours truly” welcoming folks to our site, but my wife insisted that I put our commercial there instead. I think it was a good idea, don’t you?

4. We will be adding a Google Search field onto each page of our website later this week. That way, you can enter in any words or chair models you want and see what information, on our website, is available for you. It is pretty cool really and I think it will serve our visitors wonderfully.

What is the difference between the Panasonic 30000 Series Massage Chairs?

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

I get asked a lot about the difference between the Panasonic 30004, 30005, 30006, and 30007 massage chairs. After Panasonic 30007 massage chairtaking the time to learn of the differences, it really all boils down to 2 words…”air bags”. The main difference between all these chairs, besides the price, is the number of airbags that each model has. The  new, made-in-Japan 30007 massage chair has waist, hip, and shoulder air bags that the others don’t boast. Here is a chart from the Panasonic website, showing the differences between the 4 models:

Panasonic Massage Chair Comparison Chart

The basic massage mechanism, design, and look is essentially the same for all 4 models. You’ll notice that the 30007 has a wood accented arm rest and the little shoulder “wings” that massage the back of the shoulders (subscapularis muscle area). All models are made with synthetic leather. The 30007 is the only model made in Japan.

Well, there you go…if you are shopping for a new Panasonic 30000 series massage chair and are not sure which one to go with, I hope this helps in some way for you.

Massage Chairs in our Showroom

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

We are getting more and more visitors to our website from surrounding states. We find ourselves constantly telling folks what massage chairs they can try out in our showroom. So, I figured it would do you, our cherished visitor, some good to know what massage chairs we carry in our showroom (the biggest complaint we get from massage chair shoppers is that there is no place to go to try out all the chairs):

iJoy 250
HT-5005
HT-125
HT-7120
HT-7450
HT-1650
Panasonic 30007
Sanyo 5000
Inada i2A
Inada D5 Robochair
Inada Sogno PLUS massage chair

Once the HT-125/135/136 family is phased out later this year, we will probably replace our HT-125 with a Panasonic 1285 massage chair, which is becoming a fairly popular chair because of the price point and the features included. We may also finally carry the Perfect Chair which, though not a massage chair, is made by Human Touch and is a popular therapeutic chair for low back sufferers.

Now come down, visit us, and enjoy these awesome massage chairs.

We’re Making Massage-Chair-Relief.com Better!

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

This last month we have made some changes to the Massage-Chair-Relief.com website to make it better and more convenient for our visitors. Here are just a few of the things that we have done for you…

1. added a Google Map of our location on the home page. Now that we have a showroom, we get lots of inquiries as to where we are located. This map makes it easy to put in your origination address and then get directions to Massage Chair Relief. Easy as pie!

2. added a “Bestseller List” of our top-selling massage chairs in each price category. This should help those of you who are shopping to know what others are deciding upon when it comes to getting a massage chair. We have broken up the categories by price: under $2000, between $2001-$3000, between $3001-$4000, and over $4000. Our top 2 selling massage chairs just happen to be priced over $4000: the Sogno PLUS massage chair (#1), and the HT-1650 massage chair (#2) . This bestsellers list also has the price of the chair along with stock availability for shipping.

3. added a “Product Review” section for each massage chair model at the bottom of every product page. You can also access the review by clicking on the “Submit a Customer Review Today” link under the “Add to Cart” button of each product page.  Now, when you get a massage chair model that we carry, whether you bought it from us or not, you can go onto the product page and give your two cents worth about the chair. I really appreciate constructive praise and criticism as a shopper. It helps educate me of things I need to be aware of a product. So, your review will help others make a decision about whether to get a particular model or not. We welcome your opinion.

4. added Estimated Delivery Times for each massage chair. We have put up an estimated delivery date for “Standard Delivery”, “White Glove Service”, and “Express Delivery”.  Now, these times are just well-educated estimates, based on the shipping company’s estimate and our experience. But, I will tell you that when it comes to shipping a massage chair, nothing is certain!! Just use these dates as guidelines. Often the chair comes earlier than the estimated time, but once in a great while, takes longer. But, at least this feature will give you a good idea of what you can plan on for delivery.

5. added a “Product Photos” section on each product page. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be adding every possible photo we can find for each massage chair model. We want you to see everything you can about the chair, especially if you don’t get much of an opportunity to sit in one.

6.  we altered slightly our showroom hours. We used to be open until 8:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. This served us well before Christmas, but now we are good to close up shop at 7:00 p.m. during the week.

We have lots of other plans, but this should be enough to keep your shopping experience positive for the time being.

Have a super day!
